Agree, BTW I was speaking in law terms, not in specific owner terms Pescado may have set.

Internetz law? Undecided

I don't think there's any legal precedent set for ages on forums, but if you can find one for me (and one that applies worldwide) I'll be happy to take it back. Wink

I actually think you're better off trying to learn Blender; for one thing, it's totally free, and imo, is a much better piece of software than Milkshape is (and one that is more comparable to higher end 3D modelling/animation applications as well). Plus, you might discover that you absolutely hate meshing/modelling and then you'll be out 30 bucks Cheesy.

However, I'm with Calalily; learning to model and mesh isn't going to be easy no matter what you decide to use, so don't be under the impression that a different programme will automatically be easier to pick up. All 3D modelling programmes, from Milkshape all the way to Maya, have steep learning curves and can be very frustrating for someone who has limited experience, so you've really got to be prepared to deal with that and knuckle down until you figure it out. As for learning Blender, the tutorials on the website aren't the greatest. I'd recommend using The Blender wiki book to get yourself started.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but that Raonjena hair is donation Sad

Astonished lemons is well aware of that, gabbi. See the following quote:

But I think its funny in a twisted sort of way when they try to copy other pay creators.

Its like theyre intentionally trying to make a fuglier hair.

64  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Your Ugliest Paysite Creation Find: Round Two. on: 2008 July 29, 00:16:44

Not to mention it's spelled Colombia.

Well, unless they mean one of the other "Columbia"s that are spelled Columbia; you know, like British Columbia, Columbia University, the Space Shuttle Columbia, etc. Grin (but your original point still stands)

Still stinks, though. And I'm somewhat horrified that that is what someone thinks BCers, fancy university go-ers or, uh, astronauts wear ("the crazy front bulge is all the rage on college campuses and NASA training facilities this year!") .

The narrator in my head reads that "Nice" title in the most sarcastic, jerkiest way possible. Whenever I look at it, I can almost hear the snort and see the eye roll that precedes the saying of the word. Maybe that's why the second woman on the right looks so embarrassed and the second one on the left looks so pissed off?

ETA: Actually, they all look kind of pissed off, so I'm going to assume my interpretation is exactly correct.

Lol, if you wanna be sexy, the shoes come off LAST!!

Unless you're wearing crocs.  Wink
67  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Official Survey: They're going to sell individual downloads!?WTF?! on: 2008 July 05, 19:02:41
There are loads of talented artists that work at EA (and on the Sims games too), but keep in mind that there is already an established style and art mandate that they have to follow for the Sims games in order to make sure the games follow a certain direction and look (whether it looks like shit or not).

The stuff they are selling is likely b-list crap that they didn't include in the stuff packs or eps because it either didn't fit, didn't have space (or as is more likely, knowing ea, time Roll Eyes), or wasn't good enough to add. I'm with Berg, though (especially knowing what I know of the way that the company treats its employees), I wouldn't exactly be busting my ass to make beautiful stuff for a company that makes me work long hours with no overtime, and with no time to adequately test or create work.
68  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Look at what I made and om nom nom it! (Post your creations pt. 2) on: 2008 July 05, 05:50:51

Thanks for the fine compliment! Grin
I don't make much (if anything) for the Sims, but I do have quite a bit of experience with photoshop, colour theory and texture painting, so I like to try and help when I can, lol. I'm glad you find it somewhat helpful!. I hate the dodge tool, too, and only try to use it sparingly. Have you tried instead to hand paint your highlights in with a light colour on a low opacity on a separate layer? It's a good way to make highlights, and (unlike the dodge tool) won't cause you to have to start over from scratch if you go too far. Smiley

I generally tend to use "hue/saturation", "colour balance", "levels", and "contrast/brightness" (I love the highly improved version of it in CS3), however I'm also a big fan of layers and generally will build up my colours and textures layer by layer at different opacities (e.g. I will copy a layer of my texture, use adjustment(s) and then lower the opacity down and/or move the layer around in my stacks of layers and folders). I am ashamed to admit that the psds of my textures generally contain hundreds of layers Cheesy; however, I'm very careful to keep each one named properly and grouped into folders when I'm done (in my early days I didn't do that, and when I would go back to work on things later it would take me at least a couple of hours to figure out what each layer was, heh. Organization was a very painful lesson to learn! Grin).

I'll also always go in later and hand paint in details and blocks, stripes and dashes of colour to add highlight, shadow, texture and depth (as usual, at different opacities and on separate layers). It can be time consuming, but makes a big difference in the end product.

I love this haircut, Berg; it's going to go on every male in my current neighbourhood, lol (almost makes me wish I was running some kind of Prince Valiant themed thing Cheesy).

I really like the job you've done on the blond texture, it's not flat, with a nice hint of shine and a good mix of strands of other colours to make it actually look like hair (plus excellent job on keeping the strands so that they actually look like strands of hair on all colours!). For some reason, the other colours look a little flat to me (they are very nicely done however, I would be satisfied with them as is!), although I will admit that I'm not sure why. Maybe the shininess needs to be upped a little (and I mean a very little, please no Raon-ness  Grin), or perhaps a few more contrasting shades of the colours to add depth?

Besides, seriously, there's 10 sites like that already; it hasn't broken my heart yet...I guess my heart really is made of stone. Sad

Dude, seriously? All I know about are disjointed rants, floating about in blogs and on paysite bitches' websites. If there's a whole site about how much we bite the big one, I'd love to see it.

Heh, even though I used the word "seriously", I was actually being sarcastic (and was meant to reference some of the things you noted) Cheesy; however, there was (is?) one forum in particular that I do, erm, fondly remember that was all about "how much we bite the big one" Grin. Check Money Better Spent for a link in the "Open Letter...." page if you're really curious.

And you know what? I might just open up a site with Anita now. Yeah, it will be called "PMBD - Sucks Ass". Where all the pay creators can go and talk shit about you. Then we'll see how much YOU like it.

Will we have to pay? I mean, if it’s about us….

What do you want to bet it is really a 50 year old fat guy who does have real breasts?

That is a sucker bet, tomato! Unless, of course, someone here actually believes these profiles are written by confused young girls, at which point you can put your money down right here Grin.
73  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Aikea and Gelydh have their own site... on: 2008 May 03, 23:39:07
Just did more research and I'm thinking that maybe it's the Odds. They did quite a few collaborations with Kids In The Hall. It could also be Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odds_(band)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadowy_Men_on_a_Shadowy_Planet

It's not Shadowy Men - they did their theme song and incidental music, and you see the band members here and there. The Odds is a possiblity....

I keep hoping we'll mention a band name and mando will go "THAT'S IT!"

Sadly, it's not going to happen in this case, Hecubus Cheesy. He is not from Shadowy Men on A Shadowy Planet or from The Odds, I'm afraid. My knowledge of Canadian artists and bands from that time is fairly excellent, but in his case it's like there's just a blank spot in my memory. Gah! It makes me crazy because I know I knew who it was at the time, and the only thing I need is a hint or clue to drag me off in the right direction. I will say that for some reason I do believe, despite his wicked sideburns, that he might actually have been more likely in a dance/pop group or as a dance-y solo artist.

Sorry guys, but to go back on topic - Just a heads up that they've moved most, if not all, of the TSR sets onto their site now Tongue

Yep. I will be moving their stuff off the booty this afternoon. If there's something you can't get on their site, it means they hate the set or want to rework it. And really, if you're desparate, the stuff is free at TSR. But get it from them, please!

(This shameless plug brought to you by the Committee to Support TSR Defectors.)

Yay! I'm very pleased to see that everything's getting moved over with few problems. I didn't really download their stuff from the booty (although I don't download much from the booty at all), but when I went to the site yesterday I was very happy to find one of the very few places that had women's jeans without ridiculous stilettos attached. Let's say "Huzzah" for sneakers!
74  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Aikea and Gelydh have their own site... on: 2008 May 03, 07:37:38
Well, I know it's probably not Moxy Fruvous, then... Meh! Probably not anyone from Bare Naked Ladies, either...

Nope on both accounts, Paden, but fine guesses nonetheless.

This is just a wild guess but what about Bootsauce. They were out about that time.

Not them either, I'm afraid, but another quite excellent guess. However, I had to relook them up so I could remember who they were and now I am upset with you because it made me remember an annoying song of theirs that was popular at the time and which is now stuck in my head Angry Cheesy.

At least I'm able to remember which bands he wasn't in (sigh).
75  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Aikea and Gelydh have their own site... on: 2008 May 03, 06:15:59
hey Mando....what about that dude from Men Without Hats?  could it be that guy you're thinking of?

or the singer from Great Big Sea?
This is Tammy, pop sensation, played by Bruce McCullough in The Kids in the Hall. See more here and here.

(If anyone can tell us who the male singer with Tammy is in the second one, you'll receive undying thanks from both me and Mando.)

hey hey hey...found this on Wiki; might be a clue:

McCulloch also directed the music video for the Tragically Hip’s song “My Music at Work,” from their 2000 album Music @ Work.
McCulloch has stated on his website that he is close friends with Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie.
The video shares much in common with many Kids in the Hall sketches, including its office setting, camera angles, and some thematic elements.

could the guy in the video be Gord or one of the guys from Tragically Hip?Huh

I'm sorry, my most excellent primate friend, but I am absolutely sure that the fellow in question is not from any of those bands. I'm certain that the singer in the video was based in Toronto at that time, which cuts out both "Men Without Hats" (the members of which would honestly be a little older than our man) and "Great Big Sea". Besides, as a Canadian who was a teen in the nineties, if I didn't know what all of the members of The Tragically Hip looked like I think I might have to give up my citizenship Grin.
