Have you tried adding a touch of green to the purple? I was messing around in Photoshop and it seems to knock the pink down a bit - although if you add too much it'll end up look a bit zombie-fied. I'm crap at explaining what I'm trying to say, so here's a picture.
Let's all say "Huzzah!" for intro colour theory
! Green is the complementary colour for red, so adding (yellow/)green to pink will tone down the colour. The problem (as you noted) is that the more of the complementary colour you add the more diminished and "deadened" the original colour will get. This may not necessarily be what is desired, especially if you want to keep a higher saturated colour (but still with less pink). The two colours on the colour wheel that are beside violet are red and blue (and are the two colours which are used to mix violet/purple), so adding either colour to violet will affect the way the end colour looks. The pinker the violet , the more red is in the colour, the bluer the violet, the more blue makes the colour up (as you showed in the image).
Essentially, if you want to tone down (deintensify) that pink you'll want to mix in more green (in this case probably a slightly yellow/green). If you want the colour to keep its original intensity (just not be so pink) you'll need to move it more towards the blue end of the scale (or, as is probably the best choice, do a mixture of both).
