I've learned my lesson. I admit I came here with a 'OMG free stuff' mentality and started downloading like mad. I regretted that when I had to do a painstakingly slow clean-out of my 40.000+ downloads to eliminate the crap that was trying to kill my poor computer, looked aweful in no-photoshop conditions or just borked the game. I probably still have some pay stuff in there, but I only go to the booty anymore if I really need a very specialised item for a story. And I usually throw it out again when I'm done with it.
That's the great thing about the booty. The 'yay free stuff' people really burn their hands on it. Good way to start realising we're not just a bunch of meanies who want free swag.

What an idiot I was to read through all this at work (Yes, all 62 pages, Elphaba bored and waiting for Email) The INSTANT I get home I have to dig out this thread again and go on a downloading spree. Could be worse, at least I've already got all of Nouk, Helga and Adele in my downloads folder so that'll save a couple of hours...

This site is sooooo bad for your downloads folder - not the booty - but all the free stuff. All the nice stuffies brought right to your door with people wanting you to download it. You will require an iron clad will.

Elphaba, huh? That's really weird. I just made a Sim in bodyshop last night that bears remarkable resemblance to the Elphaba (The chin in profile could slice a salami) . I named her Fae.

Book or broadway? I'd love to see her either way. It's just that I made an Elphaba sim once and she was 'romance' sim (raging slutbag). I'm curious how other people treat their Elphaba/Fiero/Nasarose sims... God I sound like a damn fangirl

I bought Son of a Witch a couple weeks ago and read it on a slow weekend at work. I hate the Wizard of Oz movie, but liked Baum's books. I'm now planning on running to the bookstore next payday and picking up Wicked and whatever other books I can find that are in the series.
I can totally picture Elphaba as a popularity sim with lots of mean, but I've only read about her after her death, so that might change.

I adore Gregory Maguire, he's really an example for me and I respect what he does with his work. Although I did find "Wicked" a bit too filthy, too far removed from the original. It shocked the reader just for the fun of shocking them, which I think is cheap. That being said, he did what I've always wanted to do; turn fairytales upside down and make them into the naturalistic, 'condition humaine' nightmares the really are. How they managed to take so much grit and sleazy nightmare fantasies and turn it into a sacharine broadway song-and-dance festival that would make Walt Disney himself puke is beyond me

God I sound like a damn fangirl You should have called her Fabala, I think that's a gorgeous nickname, maybe I should have called myself that as well and give all the book readers a little squee when they recognise it... Have genuinely lost count of the amount of times I've seen it on the West end. And will be borrowing 'A Lion among men' as soon as possible from my friend (next in the series, out in hardback, go enjoy!) I think it would be a tad cruel to make her a popularity sim seeing as everyone's scared of her, she'd never get any friends and be in failure all the time. Or maybe that's appropriate... Pleasure might work though.

I fangurl Gregory Maguire! I love Wicked and its sequel. I've read all of his "twist on fairy tales" and think he's just so gifted. What can I say? I loved the dirtiness and grittyness of Wicked. I also loved the musical, but they're just so different from each other, I can't compare them.
ETA: A Lion Among Men? When was that one released?

Lion came out in October, by the looks. As far as the popularity goes, haven't you ever had one that rolled the "make x number of enemies" want?

make x number of enemies? I didn't know you could get that want! Why have my evil sims always feared making enemies then? *smoulders jealousy because having that want would be really cool*

You can reroll your wants as much as you like with the insimenator. If it's there and you're patient enough, it'll come up eventually. I didn't know it existed either, it sounds like a good one! Well, not really, but you know what I mean

What an idiot I was to read through all this at work (Yes, all 62 pages, Elphaba bored and waiting for Email) Same here. Except I'm stuck at home recovering from surgery - and my downoads foder has definitely become more bloated. But, I've been deleting a ton of crap I don't use anyway, so it evens out.
