Well, I am a newb. I do know the difference. I also think that we all start out somewhere. I don't enjoy the people who make me realize that my 2 year old is a genius...as a certain person in this post has done. Darth Cader has a sense of humor, after all.

I don't think there's anything wrong with newbies/n00bs so long as they don't do dumb things like make polls such as this one.
I am a newbie, I try to obey Board Rules and when I make a mistake, I apologize and try not to repeat it. So.. sorry for being new here?

I see the n00b/newbie phenomenon in a perhaps symplicistic point of view:
1) People who don't even try to read forum's rules, or doesn't bother to check the already settled atmosphere going on, before jumping right in it demanding something, are usually ill-mannered and arrogant.
2) People ill-mannered and arrogant are often very young because a) nowadays seems more out of fashion to teach children about mutual respect and good manners, and b) they have not yet experienced the massive bashing the life gives to such arrogants, through years, turning them in arrogants that at least had learn to hide it in some extent.
If those statements are true, then:
1) Normal, good mannered, and adult newbies quickly become welcomed part of forum community - hence, no more newbies.
2) Ill mannered and younger newbies are quickly insulted, bashed, rejected and kicked out - hence, they will be always newbies (althought for a very short time).
Does it makes sense?
