I think at this point I am not looking for perfection- the tools such as they are at this time are leaving shadows at least in some places - WesH, Delphy, and Peter Jones are working on this , and I don't really understand the technical aspects of it since I am just learning to mesh for TS2,  but it has something to do with the limitations of the tools at this time.

I like Deluxe Designs benches - shadow or no a  lot better than I do the Stylist Sims Living Room Set, and I will just use them til something better comes along. Stylist Sims dining set is also much improved in comparison to their living room set. So you can see that the tools and people's skills are improving which is good, and an indication of where CC for TS3 is going.

I am mostly in testing phase right now- I  try things and if I don't like them they are binned immediately. I think I have got much more control of the obsessive downloading of CC than I had in Sims 2, at least at this point in the game. Of course this time I am starting out with good habits- like sub-folders which now work in my game and getting rid of what I am not using.

Ditto for me. Didn't know how to organize myself at first with sims 2 until I lost my downloads folder and grabbed the opportunity to make it neat; but didn't go far enough and allowed a LOT of so-so stuff. But now for sims 3, like you I quickly ditch things out, even for the store. I prefer perfection and will quickly ditch out things now. But it's hard to do it for hairs as apparently the sims head size is important and can mislead to fake flaws. So I test them thoroughly. But since the vanilla game has such awful and dreadful hairs I tend to allow several meh hairs for now at least, but won't allow meh furnitures. I know I'm being harsh but really, the game has enough of these. Plus an EP is coming. I'm sure some stylish benches will be in it (probably for Paris stuff). And moar store stuff every month. The next castle set will be the outdoor one and surely have a nice bench.

BTW guys forget about the XMSims FloraHair003, it has a LOD problem: when you zoom out a tiny bit, ZAM a part of the hair disappears. Minor problem but it'll ruin your pics.

Yes the  sub folders are working finally. The only XM hair for 3 that I have in game is Flora001. I tried the long, one with bangs and a scarf in game as well as it's un-accessorized twin and they both have problems. The scarf doesn't show up except as part of the hair and is non-recolorable, and the other one has a blank gap in the mesh where the scarf ought to be. I deleted them as they are not faves anyways.
 I think while Aikea Guinea, Gelydh Oepu and HystericalParoxysm are making very sure to convert, edit, or age convert base game hairs or TS2 hairs in such a way that they fit the new head shape and to choose hairs from TS2 that look good on puddings, others are not so careful.
I am really loving Oepu right now. She has even more out there than she released at MTS including a receding hairline short cut for guys and edits of the 40's style so that it is a short wavy bob. Then the LOD 'hole' I saw must be the missing scarf. Too bad, it's cute. But there are 5 hairs converted every day, so whatever.
Totally agree, Oepu's stuff is neat! grabbed all the hairs edits but haven't put them in yet. I have all his clothes ingame though and it's useful and well done stuff - specially for the male sims, they lack so much clothes.

I wasn't a big fan of Oepu for Sims 2. While I like Maxis Match clothes I always went after Fanseelamb, Fakepeeps7, and dustfingers stuff more, and I just don't like Maxis Match hair. I always liked Nouks and HP's hair textures better since they were semi-matching but still had some shine and curl to them. But, Oepu's work for TS3 is really good. I mostly like it because it is neither poufy anime hair, nor runway model stuff which is what I  prefer

Stylist Sims has a new dining set out and I just tested and none of the obvious problems as with their living room set- also all mention of Donations- and Donation sets has been taken out of their TS3 FAQ. You can get it here http://www.stylistsims.net/sims3/objects_01.html

Thought I would point this out, but Stylist Sims now has pay content,a set of 9 clothing items for women. And I love what they say about them:

All outfit comes with a new mesh. You can fully adjust the weight of your Sims, but the outfits are not recolorable.

Bold added by me. Really, we have the tools to make the clothes recolorable, and we have Create-A-Style in game to recolor clothes. If you aren't making your stuff recolorable, there is a problem, especially if you expect people to pay for your content.

Yes I noticed- just took them off my finds list. Mango Sims has a new chair and cushion set for Sims 3 http://mangosims2.free.fr/ .No noticeable shadows or mesh holes. I will test in game when I get back from work tonight.

How lame Even T$R 'creators' manage to make some recolorable clothes, that says it all.

Thanks for the find dstar, I grabbed her leaf pattern weeks ago but stopped checking since there was no new updates. The archive contains 2 new meshes in package format: the chair and the cushion, but it also contains 2 sims3packs for the recolors (!) Well I guess these last 2 are useless
Gonna test it now, can't wait. Deco cushion, Yay!

For those willing to use the Launcher or the TSR TS3 Workshop(not me) it is a nice touch though- at least to see what patterns she things are pretty for recolors for the chair and cushion, but I prefer to do my own recolors . For one thing my CC doesn't get overwhelming if I don't have the creators recolors clogging up my packages and downloads folders.

More serious report:
The chair has 2 channels: you can recolor the cushions and the wood support separately. I tested with a full white recolor and there's no black spots, no greyish white, nothing wrong! The cushion pattern will be shrunked though, so don't be surprised (first pic: I used the same pattern for both the chair and the deco cushion). Seating sim has a perfect posture (second pic). It's already delivered with a lot of EA recolors - as the chair she cloned. Found with the other living chairs for 50§ (sic)


The cushion was cloned probably from the cow plant so it can be put at the same places (floor, coffee tables, eating tables, counters and wardrobes). It has a small lightning problem, so don't put it in the sun (see pic below). Found in deco/misc 10§ (sic again). One channel to recolor it wholly. The pattern will have a normal size, so it's bit hard to match the chair pattern if you want figures (see upper pic).


The only problem would be the price, given the advantages:
The chair has a ++ confort. EA's first armchair with that confort is at 375§ (or 350§? Blame my memory.)
The cushion has a 4 environment! The first EA item to have that is the cow plant which costs 475§!
So it's darn cheating, prices should be changed to chair: 300§ and cushion: err around 100§ or 150§.

Cushion and chair look good then ? Good - I just tossed out the Roman thing and am waiting for Schnuffi to release her two new object sets- they both look good in the pics in her blog on Sims3Marktplatz forum, one is an entertainment center, and the other is  a patio set.
