From what I've seen of competing businesses, the big normally kills off the small one every chance it gets. In my home town, Wal-Mart came in and killed off Pamida and Alco, and is making inroads on the Hy-Vee grocery store. They're out to make money, not friends. And if EA sees how much of a haul that they make at TSR, they're gonna want it in their own savings account. I hope. If something breaks your game, its much easier to go after a company because, after all, it's supposed to work when they put it on the shelves... If TSR gets absorbed, ala Borg style, that is all to the good, cause do you think EA is gonna let them put out shit that fuggers up your game?

I don't photoskin, and I have to shamefully admit I subscribed and submitted to TSR. In fact, my subscription's still active. I do have to agree with a lot of the things on this thread, especially the part about FAs photoskinning.
That pretty much is what Chazdesigns DOES. His earlier works were these latex PVC things that looked uncomfortable, but still a step up from what he's doing now.

It's a possiblity that if EA forced TSR to close it might alienate some players, after all there are some people who've never gone further than TSR and it's boards and are still blissfully unaware that TSR pays it's FAs. And if EA pulled the site from under them they would be upset.
That said if EA wants to send a clear message to paysites that they're unacceptable going after and taking down TSR is going to make sure everyone knows that. If they don't feel it's worth the cost of the lawyers for a game that is on its way out then I still think they could use the EULA and the threat that legal action could be taken to persude TSR to go back to a rotation system where all items would eventually be "free" and those not willing to wait could pay for immediate access. Which is not perfect but would be an improvement in the situation.
Hopefully for the sims 3 they'll have a clear no paysites policy which they'll defend from the outset.
