So to get rid of bumpmapped clothing and the ridges, you delete the bumpy map. Hm. Interesting. I shall have to go back to my dresses and delete those and see how they look without it.

You don't delete it. Well I've never tried that anyways. You just open it in whatever graphics editing program you use, and turn it all black. With bumps, black basically give syou no bumps, whereas the closer to white you go the more profound the bumps are. So just turn them black to get rid of them entirely, or just scribble out some of the designs on the bumps so they don't have as much.

I tried to delete a bumpmap before and when I reloaded it in bodyshop, it said the files werent right, and it wouldn't work. So just fill it in black to be on the safe side, I reckon. I think that's why it said that, anyway.

Actually you should turn it all grey - if you turn it black, that's still a bumpmap - indenting the whole mesh. Now I'm derailing the thread and I'm sorry, but I've always wondered, how does someone photoskin clothing? I understand the basic principle behind it, take a picture from a magazine or other source, use the picture. But what about the sides and back?
Well a lot of stuff is taken from celebrity or fashion shots - so it's all about getting the picture of the back and front of JLo's dress etc. Of course, they do take these sorts of pictures at Oscar nights etc. There's also online fashion shopping - which often shows the front and the back of the dress for sale. And of course, I've seen plenty where they dummied up the back of the dress by cloning. I did one photoshopped clothing (just to see what it was like) and I found it awfully restrictive. The dress turned out okay, and I like the dress itself, but I didn't find it as nice as my usual texture methods that fits more with my sims style.

I discovered a method to out and out delete it in SimPE one day when I was pissed and didn't want to bother with importing/exporting a texture. I deleted the normal texture and every reference to the normal texture. Which works. If you only delete the normal texture, though, the outfit disappears and you have a naked sim.
I honestly wasn't thinking about rather it was the "preferred" or "proper" way, I was thinking "IF YOU DON'T STOP IT WITH THE FUCKING BUMPMAPS, I'LL STOP YOU."

Actually, I prefer bumpmaps - obviously a poorly done one sucks, but done properly, they keep it from looking like body paint.

I fail at bumpmapping. It's so damn hard! Ummm. I wouldn't wear this as UNDERWEAR, let alone SWIMWEAR?! And it's for teens. I wonder why they don't have a picture of the back... Ugh.

Sad thing is, there are teens who wear this stuff. Well, not THAT swimsuit, but similar levels of skank abound irl. Not that anything makes it right.

The edges don't line up - it looks like a bunch of fabric scraps held on with string. Are those lines supposed to be ruffles? Good Grief!
