This is interesting coming on the heels of simlogical getting hacked recently.
Who's next? Hopefully.. no one. And even more hopefully at some point karma bites the perps on the butt.

Well, good news!! Just saw that our sites are back up. (I'm from eXpresSims.net - one of the sites hosted by WickedSims) I see the WickedSims Forum is still down - all their content is on the forum, but I checked out my sister-sites... They are up and running.   Thanks Jessica, don't know what you did, but I'm a happy chick.

Could it be spreading? MTS2 and SS2 both seem to be currently down. Not SC2 though, and I believe they are all on the same server?

And I guess the Pentagon went through a cyber attack too?
This is more than just a little strange. Prolly coincidental, but still weird.

Actually I had a attack on my site! A hacker actually. Got my password, and changed parts of my site! But a great friend of mine, and also another Admin cought on quickle and was able to cheange back everything that was damaged. I also found that they tried to play smart with me, thinking that I won't notice the new Admin account. :x Assholes. I deleted that shit as soon as I saw it! I changed all my passowrds, log-ins and all that.
I was so pissed when I saw this! :x :x

Yeah, you got me all excited earlier when you said it was back up, so I go to check only to find this: Update June 22 630pm PST:
Without my permission, the host undid the redirects while I was offline today, so we would go back to normal--and without fixing the CPU usage issues. Which means at any moment they could force me to upgrade or close the account. Now they are claiming (in email) that it's my problem and I need to fix it. How can I fix it when the problem was more than likely due to the attacks? Blah. Anyways I am resetting the redirects up (which is why you are now seeing this page) and I guess I will need to call tech support yet again and hopefully I will get through to a live person. Will update this page with more info when I have it. So now I am back to being bummed.

Gordon Bennet! I have often wondered whether (looks around to see who's listening) some of these hosts mess about with sites themselves just to force them to upgrade :x

To be honest I haven't a clue except it would be likely to have been through the forum rather than database or ftp, because they wouldn't have known whose attachments were whose that way and probably would have wiped the lot, and not via a top level admin account or my own forum stuff would have been wrecked too. So the entry point was probably through a global moderator level account, which did have authority to edit the attachment settings for their own level and below.

By the way, this DoD shit seems to be happening all over - livejournal had an attack earlier this month, as did a progressive site I visit. Something's in the air, I guess.

So is this the norm and acceptable to have a host where you have to go through hell and high water to speak to a live tech support person?

Livejournal got hit too? That's strange that so many sites would get hit in such a short ammount of time.
I could see the attacks on Xanga and LJ being related. Maybe even Progressive (unless it's not the car insurance site). But WickedSims? It all makes me wonder who else has been getting hit.
It might just be some kid who learned a new trick and is having fun going around and smashing random sites. An adult probably wouldn't bother. I think.
