Pay MESH recolors on free sites

Hm, emosims provided a direct link to the booty for a recolour of a peggy mesh, and starsims gives you a hint if you go to download her peggy recolours. Sure I've seen other people giving links, too.

I have never come across a pay mesh recolor where the booty was mentioned or a pirated mesh could be downloaded.

The only links that seem to be provided is where you can "pay" for the mesh if you want the recolor.  I've come across this on hair and now the bathtub.

It just sux.  You see the item and like it, then want to download it.  Go to reading and discover it's something that you will have to hunt down and pay for if you want the recolor.  

I think it's a cheesy way to "drum up business" for a paysite.

I disagree with the idea of "there should be no recolors of paymeshes".
In no small part due to the ubiquitous poor red recolors. I seem to remember seeing a collection of proper red recolors of pay hairstyles at InSIM... it would be a shame if it were to be deleted.
But sometimes, people's textures are actually better than the originals. Go figure, eh?

I like some of the things on Emosims, but couldn't she have just uploaded it to her own server? Or linked to PMBD, rather than the mesh itself?
I always assumed that it was common courtesy not to directly link to someone else's web site when it came to images and larger files. (To HTML or PHP pages? No big deal.)

Hotlinking is a bandwidth thing, and if we're claiming to have unlimited bandwidth...

And pay recolors are only not a problem places where it's acceptable to just distribute the mesh.  On a site where you can't (MTS2, etc), then it's just really annoying.

I don't think that recolours of pay meshes should be on free sites - customers should complain to the business and ask for better reds. Or businesses should pay free sites that fix their fuckups.

I personally don't like the hotlinking thing, I'd rather she directed people here so they knew more about what we have to offer.  But Pescado doesn't care.

I have to agree that most red colors suck bad.  I do a lot of hair recolors and they seem to go over rather well with folks.  

There are several pay hairs that I want to recolor and share but I have never put them up because it does suck to find out that you have to go pay for the mesh.   :roll:

But, Bluesoup just gave me an idea.  Perhaps I will just link to the booty where the mesh can be downloaded for free and begin to release a few recolors.

I am also guilty of just including the mesh on one recolor set I released for convenience.  What do you think about that??  

I would almost rather hotlink to just stay out of trouble.  But I don't know how.

Mh, this is a quite delicate subject.

I for one don't like free sites offering recolors of pay meshes - a free site is supposed to have only free downloads accessible by anyone, while pay meshes recolors are usable only by those who have the original pay mesh.

But, it's also true that lots of pay meshes comes with fugly textures, and recolors by other creators are very appreciated.
Last but not least, sites like this(PSMBD) helps quite a lot. If there's a way for everyone to get the original mesh, then it's great to have recolors as well..
