Well....it is said that if you think back to the point when you became pregnant....if you were ummm "satisfied", then it will be a boy. If you were "left wanting more", then it will be a girl.
Hey....at least the odds are 50-50 on this being a true indication of gender.

Muchos gracias, everyone! Especially for the rum and other vices. I almost don't need a ciggie now. I'm still convinced it's a boy - and that it will come out as a true copy of 'Papa', complete with dreadlocks and 3 days old stubble and all. Papa says if that's the case he will abandon all his vices - and he has more than I had.

I'm always the last one to post, it seems. Congrats, Moune, and I hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Hey....at least the odds are 50-50 on this being a true indication of gender. I thought it was the other way around. I remember this because it linked the gender of the baby to who had the most fun making it.

Congrats Morne!! Babies are a blessing. Until they turn 2, that is. . . Here's my theory on baby gender, for what it's worth. The mom always knows, like a six-sense thing. I have three kids and spent 7 years as a social worker working with pregnant moms and babies. The moms always knew. They'd say things like, "I know he's a boy" or "I want a boy so bad, I hope it's a boy, but I have this feeling he's a she." I knew with all three of mine. I remember with the baby (boy) I wanted a girl so that my daughter would have a sister. . .but I just kept calling the baby "him" and thinking of boy names. When we went for the ultrasound, he was stretched out proudly displaying his little boy parts. Now he's three and talking about cars and airplanes and football. All boy.

Perhaps I have.... a concordance!

Congrats on the baby! I have 2 children, both boys. My oldest is almost 3, and my youngest is almost 2. It's very busy in my house. I definitely kept referring to them as "he" and "him" when I was pregnant, even before I found out what they were, so I think there's a modicum of truth to the "knowing" even if it's on a subconscious level. (Of course, I wanted boys, so that may have had something to do with it.)

Hmmm....I may have it backwards about the gender for sure....it's like the crystal thing>swing a crystal necklace above the belly and if it swings straight it's one and if it goes in circles it's the other...but i never can recall which.

Congratulations! *gives you virtual rum* What's funny is that when my sister was pregnant with my niece (her only child so far), she was convinced she would be a boy. Maybe because it was her first time being pregnant? However, when my mum was carrying me (her third), her doctor was convinced I was a boy, but my mum kept insisting I'd be a girl. And voila, I'm female.

Boys are loads of fun anyway. And you never have to worry about papa meeting anyone at the door with a shotgun to threaten death in exchange for breach of virtue...lol. I'm a tomboy, so that may have something to do with why I think it's awesome to have my eldest bring me frogs to name. Or why I don't have a problem with having an aquarium full of huge bugs collected from the yard. *shrugs* Boys FTW!

I knew my daughter was a girl and my son was a boy, but I was big as a house with both of them so each time was convinced I was having twins. Thank God I was WRONG! One at a time is enough, thankyouverymuch! Mom wanted a boy, Dad just knew I was a girl because the three before me were all female, so he was happy with what he got: a little girl that he could teach to use tools and climb trees and spit and stand up for herself and all of that good stuff.

Paden....we were brought up alike, I think... See if this is familiar..."You need to know how to shoot a shotgun and to spit...the rest will work out"
That was Dad's idea of how to raise a girl...and I am so glad...made me one tough chick when I have to be.
