Absolutely agree that sharing private info as TSR did (and defended publicly) was and continues to be the poorest, most selfish and egregious decision that should have been strangled at the merest suggestion.  Instead they eagerly handed out shovels and dug their own hole.  But this explains the hold Atwa has over them.  They've long known she's got information she should have never had access to (much of which shouldn't even be collected in the first place) and has shown herself to be wildly flippant in her use of it to somehow get back in TSR's good graces.

The authors of that study thing did disclaim their results and methods, but that does not make for a nice morally panicking headline.  They used years old data from like an online survey or something.

In other news, some game companies look out for their customers and will open a can of whupass upon those that would go against their EULA/TOS and financially prey on that game's community.

Parents should be pissed - that private info thrown around in the those screenshot threads, declared genuine in TSR's myth-anthropic tirade, could belong to kids - it's not like anyone tried to find out, they were just giddy to target potential 'pirates'.  Why are they collecting such in the first place?  Why are there age and location listings in member profiles?  TSR puts out that they're family friendly and play up a relationship with EA, kids and parents might feel such info is safe when it is certainly not.

If a huge corp like Sony can get slapped with a million dollar fine for collecting underage info, well...the next legal threat received will be by TSR, and it might have the weight of a US government agency behind it.

Clean your own house, TSR - your piddly whines about sharing custom content are infinite smallcakes compared to the true shit you could find yourself in.
