The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR: IN UR COMPUTER, VIRUSIN' UR FILES!

Why would TSR want to get rid of harmful adverts? Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a subscriber account get rid of the adverts on TSR? Well there you go then, they can cry, subscribe, give us monies, and the viruses will go away. If you're only there to browse, not to pay (say if you were planning on getting it from the booty later) they don't want you there at all and want to kill your computer to stop you downloading their content from the booty. As for their visitors who go there for the free stuff - screw 'em. They're freeloading off the servers anyway. MOAR MONIES!!!
Thinking like TSR hurts my head....

Does anyone else wish Thomas would have a crack at PMBD or MATY just to see what Pescado would do? He'd probably call on his secret lazer mounted satelites to wipe out the whole of sweden. Or would you call that just a good start Pescado?

- Yes, i consider some FAs to be my friends. No matter if they offer pay content or whatever, they are just nice persons
I would like to dispute this point. First of all if people are tricking children into handing over their pocket money for something which legally should not cost them a penny - that defies my definition of being a nice person. You know how sims 3 has their evil sims stealling candy from babies? This rather sounds like that doesn't it? - I don't care about your dispute with TSR or any other paysite. It's not my game you are playing, as i never did upload pay content to Pimp my Sims.com nor do i intend to do so. So it's only between you and paysites.
If you don't care about the dispute why are you making such long posts about it? Surely a person who genuinely didn't care would simply be here for the Kool Aid. You're sounding like a person who cares passionately about this. That's fine. Passion is good and it gives people something to talk about other than Kool Aid. You can't say that you don't care when clearly you do. You are clearly on the paysite part of this debate. If you deny this then it suggests in fact you are unsure. We like people who are unsure because it suggests some actual thought it going into this. But if you don't listen to people's arguments then you're not thinking which means you've made up your mind and it's a mindset that will make you very lonely here. FAKE EDIT: I've just read that back and I think it makes sense but it's possible it doesn't - if so i have no excuses. But I thought I'd post anyway since I feel that if any points in there do make sense they're well worth making. Can I have my Kool Aid now?

Actually there are two myths about Lemmings that are completely untrue. The first, obviously, is that they jump off cliffs. The second is that the first myth was invented by disney. In fact it predates disney, as episode 5 of series 4 of the wonderful british show QI shows Alan They don't actually jump off cliffs.
Stephen They don't jump off cliffs.
Clive It was invented by Disney or somebody?
Stephen Oh, dear me.
Forfeit: Klaxons sound. Viewscreens flash the words "MYTH INVENTED BY DISNEY".
Stephen It was not invented by Disney, no. There were two myths about it, one that they commit mass suicide, the other that it was Disney who invented the myth.
Clive Ah, right.
Stephen In fact, they didn't. As early as 1908 in an . . . Arthur Mee's Children's Encyclopedia, he talks about them throwing themselves off cliffs into the water.
So there you go, another myth dispelled by Stephen Fry This has been random facts from Elphaba, tune in next time for 'The shin: a device for finding furniture in the dark' and 'Yes you CAN walk on custard!'

For all the good it does, I put out a call to FREE COCONUT on my blog. I wonder if TSR would bother going after a nobody like me. I guess we'll see soon enough. It's probably full of typos and such; 'twas written on the fly in a hissy fit. The automatically generated related posts made me smile. Chewy Coconut cookies, mmmmmm. See TSR, the cookies are on our side

The latest Coconut expose is on Google cached if someone wants to make a copy - would do it myself but am at work and shouldn't really be even typing this *sneakily looks over shoulder*
But oh good gracious! No wonder tsr threw a hissy fit. SURELY they knew that coconut would post all of that as soon as the form arrived in their inbox. They must have been counting on cocnut not signing and therefore getting shut out of their forum - or if they do sign getting hold of their contact details so if coconut is discovered they can paste them all over their private forum and make threatening phone calls and the like. Although is coconut sure everyone has recieved one of these forms, or just people suspected of being coconut?? Is coconut certain that even if everyone recieved a form the wording on each form was identical and not ever so slightly different so when it got immediatly pasted onto coconut's blog they could track down where they hid that spare comma, then check their list to see who got sent the version with that spare comma and like that find out who coconut is... Or did I just give tsr WAY too much credit?
hello tsr clones reading this - bet you wish you'd thought of that ^ now don't you?

I really should have mentioned this before but it just occured to me. What information ahve we been given? A full name and an address. There's a lot of things can be done with a full name and an address.
I used to work for medical records for the NHS (the national health system in England). Say I recognise that address to be a local one (I don't care if the actual address isn't an english one and therefore this wouldn't work for me - this is an example, Coconut was good enough to blur out the address so I don't know it, therefore for all I know I COULD have done it and so could someone else in the relevant country). As long as the full name isn't 'John Smith' it would be easy to type it into my medical records search engine and get up their record. A name may not be unique in a world sense but narrowed down by area it would be easy to find. Thanks to your good friends at TSR I now have access to Jass' medical records. I can change anything. I now have the power to declare her dead (no honestly I do, it used to be my job to declare people dead and we always had to be very careful and certain that it was the right person)
But the FAs wouldn't do that, would they? Okay that's a bit extreme, but this is just an example of the things you can do with the information given. And they just handed that information out to people who had just been given a reason to go on a self righteous revenge trip. After all what had this person just done to their 'friend' - you said it, Macaque they're all close friends.
It may have been doen all in good fun, but our point is that their conversation was DANGEROUS and should have been stopped.

Forgive me for suggesting that TSR may have two braincells to rub together but seeing as it's already been concluded that knowing we get wind of these sorts of posts they threw this out there to see what we do isn't it a bit suspicious that this TSR spy/troll has now appeared? It strikes me that they were reading this and thought 'No fair, not the reaction we wanted. Let's send someone over there to poke them with a stick'
To the troll: It is SOOOOOO obvious you're just trying to rile people. No one is as dense as you're coming across. Stop repeating yourself and go away. Or don't go away and try actually reading the responses for once. Then thinking about them. Then thinking some more. Then reading coconuts blog. Then thinking twice more. THEN try posting again once you've got some information to back up your opinion. Are you rolling your eyes thinking 'why should I do what you say I'm right' (presuming you've read this which is unlikely, admittedly) then you've just proved my point and you're a TSR sheep.
Have fun with this.
At the very least count to 30 before you hit reply, let it sink in before the moron points everyone here is assigning you go through the roof

Maybe someone should change that message at the bottom of the page if you're not signed in Want to be a member of a great community? Register Now! to Want to be a member of a dying community with far too much Walt (i.e. some)? Register Now! Is anyone else beginning to feel sorry for other people called Walt? So much hatred towards their name for none of their own fault.

8 extra pages since I last looked, serves me right for going to sleep, eh? Ah well, back at work now so have plenty of time to browse the site (I swear lately that's all I do here...)
Anyhoo to a point which I do have,, in fact two, both relating to my housemate. My housemate works for an insurance company whose bosses have decided to get out of the UK financial market while they still can and are selling. They told the employees it might be happening months ago, then told the shareholders, then told them officially it was happening a few weeks ago, and the sale won't go through for another couple of months yet. That's the process you HAVE to go through in a proper business and if K&E were professionals they should have gone through something similiar (told the mods way in advance then told the community BEFORE handing over the reigns). This cutting and running is almost childish.
The second point is when I tried to explain briefly to my housemate what was going on here, this then led to me trying to explain the sims 2 community as a whole, something which I utterly failed at. How do you explain what sort of positions Delphy and Pes have? I ended up with 'you may not agree with them, like them, or do what they say but you have to respect that they have a position in the community that you can't ignore and have for some time... this new guy can't come in and assume he'll have a similar or better position just ebcause he owns a site, even if he knows such positions exist...' acommapnied with much arm flailing as I find it hard to express myself. Basically I got a blank look. My housemate doesn't play sims or take any part in any gaming community, but she is familiar with online communitiesn so she's kind of in a similar position to Walt. If we had been told that this was about to happen we in the sim community probably could have predicted one or two of the things that have happened because we understand the groundwork. But there's no way Walt could ahve seen any of this coming, and probably doesn't understand why it has happened. He's probably got that same blank look. it's not him thinking 'why won't they like me?!!!' or 'why won't they give me monies!!!' it's 'what the heck is going on?' Sorry, have gone on. Will summarise. We Simmers are a strange lot. You've got to be us to understand us. Sorry Walt but you really should have lurked for about... what do guys think, year? two?... before trying to step in and take over a huge chunk of a community.
