We've had a few letters to the editor in newspapers from Americans about how they didn't know Aussies hated them until they got here - which of course makes us hate them more because they're so damn insular. Our nickname for Yanks here in Queensland is "Seppos" - a rhyming slang insult (Yank - Septic Tank - hence Seppos).
That is really too bad. Americans love Australians. I am an American and I don't hate Americans or America. I just pretty much don't like people. I like individuals, but not people in groups. I hate the whole mob mentality. I can relate, I am an Australian and I don't hate 'individuals' but the mob and sheep mentality of some collective groups is another issue. I have many friends of different backgrounds, and consequently many American friends both here in Australia and overseas... I do find that my US friends living in their home country do tend to be somewhat 'insular and live within their comfortable box of reality' but I can't hate them for that. Australian's are easy going people and all, but tend to like to poke fun at most and don't take anything seriously, not even ourselves.

Don't worry - Australians hate Americans too.
But no one cares. We do? LOL. I wasn't aware of that. Hate is such a strong word for everyone to be using when it comes to stereotypes and generalisations.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Idiot of the year anyone?

Beos also wrote an interesting post in the thread. I guess he fears that EA will ban all CC. That would be stupid of them, since the CC is the only reason why I still play the game. The last part is the most interesting, though: To my mind, this whole enterprise is ill-considered and short-sighted, and bears no discernible difference from any other form of abusive attack or demand placed upon any creator of custom content for The Sims 2. I cannot support it, nor can I support any site that supports it.
So, he is leaving Insim? If he is, I bet he is going to TSR, since he seems to think they " respect the creators' rights" and whatnot. I thought the same thing (leaving insim) when I read that. Back OT, I was not sure if I should laugh at that original poster or pity them with their warped idea's of being a victim of sorts. Arrrrrrgggggh!!

And the plot thickens once again... stir it up and yet the lumps still won't come out.
Guess, I am being a fence sitter on this one, I don't like to throw accusing stones when I don't really know the facts in full.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Free The Sims: Letter Writing Campaign
|

I like Pescado's idea a lot...that MATY screen really throws a lot of people off.
Another idea...wouldn't be interesting to do banners for free sites that show good free items next to similar, crap pay items? Like putting a Nouk hair next to a peggy hair...a Piggis recolor next to an Atwa recolor...etc? "Why pay when you can get the same - or better - for free?"
THAT's the campaign. I think that's an awesome idea, after all it's educating downloaders into thinking is that pay stuff really better or are they just being deceived. I actually think it's never ever better, but some don't know.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / we are now advertised on the insim page, lol
|
I run my own site and have some PMBD items from Booty available there and advertised my site at InSim. It was overlooked for awhile until someone whined about it so now my site has been pulled from the web advertisement section. I feel sorry that there is so much "drama" based around this. The area that got me booted is called Pirate's Cove.
Yeah, I was recently invited to check out your site, and got the message via insim, but it's a shame the advertising was pulled, as I think you have a pretty cool looking site from what I saw. Had computer problems so have not had the chance to look, but I will be back. LOL Others may try and ignore or hide 'the site that must not be named' but they will not totally succeed as people will seek and find the treasure if they want it bad.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Ok, Carla Niven sucks. But what about Simchic?

I am so tired of seeing sleepwear and swimwear meshes with deformed high heels.. like who goes to bed wearing their shoes and I definately do not wear heels to go the beach, unless it's a stroll at night along a boardwalk or something and even then it would not be my first choice of footwear.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / What EP would you most like to see for Sims2?
|
on: 2007 January 28, 04:05:17
|
I don't really want to see a particular EP as such. What I would like is: 1) More (sensible) lifetime wants, aspirations, careers, tuns ons/turn offs 2) Less bugginess 3) More unpredictablity. I don't know if it's the game itself or just the way I play but it seems my sims always follow the same pattern. I agree with you in particular the unpredictability, very rarely does something happen in my game that I go 'wow, look at that.' It happened the other night when I was playing a university and it was really cool. Apart from that, I just want any game modifications that really take advantage of the Season's features, as it looks like this is going to be my favourite expansion.
