Yes, but a quick file of bone isn't going to produce such a smooth finish as an eye socket. Plus, you'd get bone dust all over the brain, and while I'm no expert on the subject, any kind of dust would surely dry out the surface of the brain more, and depending on the size of the filings, may well chafe...

I realize that it is a dead body. How dead though? Are we talking fairly ripe or pretty well into dust? Because that makes a big difference in technique, I would think.

Okay, well I would guess that one freshly dead would not have as many dry shavings to chafe. Seeing as the moisture would still be intact, it may not need that much filing to be smooth.
