How is this any different from the one in game? TSR fails once again

Yeah, that is more than likely the exact same thing as in the game. Most of the comments have to do with it being the exact same thing, but here is one who said how it looks different:

Those were some pretty mean comments it is similar to the bob in the game, but at least it has has more shine and color. Hair is very time consuming and complicated that why we dont get that many at one time.

Ya know you only don't get that many at one time because you don't go anywhere other than TSR. The  creators maybe is using Ja's hair retextures  which do make it shinier, and do give the hair crisper more defined colors, all of my Maxis Edits/Age/Gender conversions from Oepu and hairs from Einfach Simlisch pick up the texture replacements so it is probably not that much different for the TSR base game hair edits.

Well here's the thing. Hair meshes are hard to create completely from scratch but it's relatively easy to edit and tweak (or simply convert) an existing mesh if you have even those most rudimentary knowledge of how to use a 3D editing program. The TSR people take the route of tweaking the existing game hair meshes which tend to make for fairly similar looking hair.

Other creators, like Peggy and Rose and so forth, steal their meshes from other sources like Poser. They appear to have new completely different hairstyles because they took the lame shortcut to rip them off from someone else in some other community. Since those meshes are generally not well known in the Sims community it appears new to us and everyone goes ooh ahhh.

Now I am definitely not one to be a defender of TSR but in this case their meshes look the same because they are using game meshes and not ripping them off from somewhere else.

Of course looking at the hair of the TS3 creators in comparison to Xandher's or Chaz's hairs  for TS2 that is probably cause most of the creators doing hair for TS3 at TSR are new other than Neptunesuzy and she is known for simply editing already in game hairs.

It was a necessary evil in TS1, somewhat tolerable in TS2 as long as it wasn't too extreme but I am sorry this is 2009 and we have better computers and the game engine is meant to be fully 3D and high detail. If you need shape to something either make a mesh or don't do it.
