Here is a piece of wall art I made. Well, actually, I drew the picture, but 'elencha' made my drawing into wall art for your sims. Many thanks to 'elencha'.
Our gift to all the pirates, a lovely mermaid to distract them from the troubles of the day.

ENJOY!

edit: noticed that the picture is backwards in the frame, so elencha fixed it:

Cannot wait for you to get this set up Soggy.  I so lurve repository to bedding!  Kiss  I think those tableclothes might just be perfect.

They look really good in the gingham, btw - I'll snap a preview pic with that bedding so folks can ask me where I got the awesome texture Cheesy

Thanks.  I use that texture myself for a lot of mapping.  It's perfect for that.

Cool, the mermaid!

I was reading the other thread where you first posted this and now I do recognize the pose from that model. You captured it well. I think drawing a human and capturing their "humanness" is a great talent. I can't really draw at all so excuse my gushing. I draw storyboard stick figures when I make my sim videos. My stick figures PHAIL!

Nabbed the painting.

As for the trashcan?  Well, I -hope-I assigned the bones and stuff correctly.  It said I had some unassigned.

*faints* That is awesome... I'm going to try this too. Thanks very much!

Thanks!  The tutorial is a bit derivative, but I figure it's a good starting place for those who have never painted/digitally painted anything.  They get a new texture that's pretty usable.

Also, I'm just now getting the hang of doing new alpha work on hairs, myself, so it's a bit early in my experience to write a tutorial on that.  XD

Quinctia, have you put this tutorial up on MTS2 yet?  I didn't see it.  We have Kelly Johnson's handpainting hair tutorial, but I would like to have yours as well.  I figure you or I could add it to the wiki later, next to Kelly's.  I need a tutorial like this because I am not an artist and I'm a total hair painting noob.

I have been a total lazyass about posting any tutorial over there.  I'd been intending to get the genetics one up in some form over there for ages.

Part of this is because I'm unsure about whether they should be posted on the forum and then linked from the wiki, or if I should just put them on the wiki itself, and then whether I need to reupload all the pictures, or whether linking mine is okay.  (I have a permanent LJ account with photohosting, so I'm good on bandwidth and all that, but perhaps another copy on the MTS2 servers is better.)

I think about all of that, and decide I'd be better off actually adding to my tutorials instead, and so we are here. XD

Gah - guys, the trashcan is being a pain - first it wouldn't even show up -and- had overwritten the one I'd cloned, even though it had its own guid.

Now, its not being recognized as a trashcan - I'm guessing I missed a bone assignment or something.  So, I'll try again in the morning when I'm feeling less frustrated and generally pissed [ about something else entirely]

Edit

Okay, so instead of killing things in Wow to get over my mad, I went back to work on mr. trashcan.

He's got one problem, the trash keeps flashing blue.  But the animations are correct, and it works.

Hrmmm - editting a post doesn't seem to let folks know there is new stuff, so new pictures and if anyone has any ideas why the trash wants to blink blue, I'm all ears in the morning.

Incorrectly linked or missing textures is usually the cause.  Are you linking to the original trash liner inside from Maxis?  Or did you create a new one?  If your linking to Maxis remember to skip the ##0xc50000!

But great job on retaining the animations!  I just did my first one of those, talk about stretching my brain capacity.  Wink

Lovely stuff guys.  Grin I'm sure my boyfriend would love to have that mermaid picture if he still had the sims installed on his compy.

Those came out looking really nice.

And I've seen that odd effect with some other hairs.  I wonder if they changed something on how alpha channels work with hair or something, because its a recent issue.

I really liked the "Kelly" mesh set from Sims 2 Play, but I haven't been able to find any recolors for it. I'm not that great at recoloring, but I decided to give it a shot. I don't think these turned out too bad.
