Isn't that just an urban legend? I've heard the gerbil/hamster story many times, but never attached to Gere.  I just assumed people added the name of their least fave celeb (Paris, Gere, whoever) to the story and spread it around.

I always heard Gere attached to that legend originally.  Nowadays, the celebs and species change, but the basic premise that skanky celebs keep small animals in their bums for kicks remains the same.  Whee!
