*raises hand*  Band geek here too, from 5th grade through 10th.  Flute and Clarinet.  I was even geeky enough to join the marching band for 2 years.  I loved it though, *sigh* I wish I had continued on in my junior and senior years too. Oh, we had to be in marching band if we wanted to be in the regular band. I was enough of a geek that I was a squad leader junior year, when normally only seniors were squad leaders. We had to wear polyester uniforms and hats with big ol' phallic plumes on them. I was in band from 5th through 12th grade, then I did 2 years of the orchestra for non-music majors in college. I should pick it up again. I need a new flute though. |

My flute is in desperate need of repair too. I hated those polyester uniforms, itchy and very hot.  I hope to get a saxophone one day and learn to play it just because I want to.  I love learning to play new instruments.  Stupid me sold my clarinet years ago and want to get another one, someday. |

Wow.. Miss Angelica is back --- I was never in the school band but I wanted to be.. unfortunately for me, my family was too po'broke at the time for me to pursue it.  My friends were all band nerds so I was a band nerd by association and got treated like one.  Yeah, junior high was a really great time.   |

We had an extremely lazy band instructor, so we didn't get to have band camp . |

I can't even sing. That's how musically challenged I am.
I sit at my friends baby grand piano and pretend I'm Nick Cave.

Then I get attacked by their dog.

I hated my school. It was an all girls catholic school and I used to get thrown out of religion class all the time.
 ..and music class.

Wow. Miss Angelica smiled at me

Most of my friends are in the band and choir (sp?) I always snigger when they tell me they had soooo much fun at band camp

I've heard stories about what people do with their flutes at band camp  But they're probably just stories.

I so love threads like this. They're perfect to play a lil' relaxing game in the middle of a workday: you go and read the first message, then jump straight to the last one and try to come up with a chain of events that lead from 'wah it's broken' to school bands. |

I was a choir girl. No really, I was. First soprano even.
Of course, I was also the resident "goth chick"(tm), so I think I had notoriety for that, and less for the singing. Poo.

I played the tenor sax for a year before the band teacher's kid tried to strangle me, and after a teacher saw the bruises on my neck, the band teacher basically would verbally abuse me. Then, his kid went on to hit a friend of mine (who is a girl) Rylie. Who the fuck hits a girl? |

This reminds me, when I was a teen...you know, all EMO and stuff, I used to save my tears in a bottle. *snort*
I found it a couple years ago. BOY oh boy did that thing smell BAD.

I just threw up in my mouth a little - srsly.  :!: Hehe. You know why it smelled so bad? Because, in addition to all the bacteria that has been incubating in that bottle, tears are diluted urine.   BTW, I was in the choir, I'm (or at least was ) a soprano too, and I took piano lessons for almost 10 years. Edit: Plum! Ohmigosh! I've missed you. And seeing your avatar still cracks me up. Post MOAR!Edited to fix the quotes. |
