 Um, yes. Thank you so much for that information there, Harlock. We had no idea. It's so comforting that you come in here with things we know nothing about. What would we do ................

It's quite apparent that you dislike Harlock, but that doesn't give you an excuse to jump him/her after every post s/he makes. I figure s/he was just trying to be helpful, so relax a bit. :p

I can't tell you how glad I am that I grew up before the emo craze - it fills me with joy everyday, so I don't have to look back and see that sort of stuff. *Loves being old (RELATIVE to all of you who know how old I am, and will say in the next post "Well if that's old I'm ancient").
I KNOW I'm older than you, Cala, and I distinctly remember painting my room black, wearing black clothes, being fascinated with vampires, listening only to AC/DC and Black Sabbath, thinking my parents were evil and stupid, loving a guy who was a "poet" whose poetry nobody understood (I know now that is because it was bad emo poetry) and believing that the world was coming to an end because of the Viet Nam war. I also cried at the drop of a hat. And didn't want anyone to look directly at me. Plus I had the added bonus grievance of being black and under the thumb of "The Man."
If that ain't emo, I don't know what it is. But we called it Typical Teenage Angst. It's a phase. Thank goodness. Like horse-love when you're 9.

You're not alone. I left for a while just to not rip him to shreds and hoped Paden would take care of him for me. I don't really have time for the drama anyway.. my sister's baby is only months away from being born! We still have things to do before she comes.

That isn't 'emo', sparkle. Don't you know emo is a new thing and none of us old people would ever understand? You were probably chronologically closer to goth (though from the sound of it, a bit before goth even), but with much different music. I was pretty much the same way, except my taste in music ran to The Cure, Depeche Mode, NIN, Sisters of Mercy, and anything else I could cry to.
I just never really outgrew it, and I am still terribly emotional. >.>
A whois can be very useful, if you want to know where to send the hate mail for example, but doesn't tell us a lot of useful information in this case. The domain does appear to be locked, but that doesn't really tell us why or what's going on. Also, that's dangerously close to exposing personal details on the forum which is not really encouraged (though yes, anyone can go look it up).

Wow.. Miss Angelica is back
Nothing agaisnt crying, nothing agaisnt people's musical tastes/preferences. What I have a problem is with an emo girl crying her eyes out because we've sold out of issue 2 of the Umbrella Academy.
And then looking at me and treating me like I just told her I sodomised her mother while her little brother watched.
It happens too often. And with the same comics.
With 500 different girls/boys. Who all look the same.
Its like the upmost definition of sheepie.
Thats my two cents.. Im leaving it there!

I think I'd have preferred being a teen in the 'Emo' years over what I actually got instead, which was the 'really fucking bad-hair 80s' years.
This is close to what my "80s hair" looked like:
maybe a little more crimped and higher teased bangs.

I had bad 80s clothing circa 13 - I had a Boy George outfit. And 80s hair was really easy as my hair is naturally really curly (I am older now, and force it into submission
)

Oh, I did that - wearing black (blue jeans entered my wardrobe about 4 years ago) listening to Metallica and Henry Rollins. I preceeded the gothic trend here, and was what was known as "swampie" - which was a lot more down to earth (and I might say a great deal less expensive - I know gothics who spent $900 on a pair of boots for gods sake) than the later gothic and emo trends. I never did the emo things of keeping my tears in a jar, and other stupid shit you have to admit to - for which I am eternally grateful.
And Harlock should henceforth be considered King of Redundant Knowledge that everyone knows, that is no use, and has no relevance, but is greatly condescending and stupid.

There was always something more in the metal/goth/alternateen stuff than there is with emo, imo. Emo also seems to be a lot more commercial and polished, which adds to my annoyance with it.
I never wore all black or permed my hair or was otherwise part of any trend. Unless "band geek" was ever a trend .

That's what gets on my nerves - the commercialism. Most of those "trends" were anti-commercialism. Now they've been co-opted by commercial sellers - and adds to my annoyance. Not that I'm saying emos are bad people - they're just teens - but all of teenage-hood seems commercial now.
Band geek - you now have American Pie.

I was the girl who hung out with the punks and goths, but looked normal. Even, I dare say, adorable.
Of course now most of my friends in high school are in jail or OD'd so maybe that wasn't as cool as it seemed back then.

I am currently the "normal" girl that sits with the "weird" group. I take out group name as a complement, as all the other girls in my grade are sluts and whores you get drunk every weekend, get high and sleep with as many guys (and girls!) as possible.
What a charming, private all-girl catholic school I attend
