I have not fired up my game in 2 weeks. Why wait for Sims to do something entertaining, when the online Sims community offers instant gratification?

Like totally, word. Note how the geeky Sims stuff like hacks, what need a bit of computer savvy, are all free. That's because regular gamers have some decency.

When I started playing Sims, the first thing that shocked me was precicely a discovery of paysites...although no, that be second, first was "Why in hell this game is so tragically dull and so addictive at the same time?" Anyway. "Baldur's Gate 2" has a couple of huuuuuge mods, and these are bloody worlds, new weapons, storylines, characters and whatnot. All, naturally, free. And there you have losers charging for a coupla rags and a wig.

All other computer games offer an escape from reality in big doses. The Sims gives you a choice of escape from reality or simulating it too closely for comfort. Some gray, in between mixture seems to be most popular. The addictivness  was inevitable.

ps, thanks for reminding me how to spell "savvy"! Getting old is not for wimps.

You know what? I think that, e.g. using the crapper without pulling your pants down first is quite a serious escape from reality. Almost as serious as nuking the Aztecs or going at someone with a BFG, albeit not as deadly as those if you tried it in real life.

Well now you've gone and concisely summed up the whole problem.

If you consider that The Sims and TS2 is the biggest selling game of all time then maybe you could offset the sheeple percentage wise?

So the solution is to kick the normies out of the fandom? Here here!

Anyone who doesn't know what a critical hit is, has never played a RTS game, or who watches "Desperate Housewives" for the thrilling subplots should leave immediately!

Agreed! I'm sure Pescado will be happy to lead the Inquisition and Gamer Cleansing.

Yes, but watching them swim for hours and then get carried off by death would satisfy my morbid side.

As an alternative, we could place them indoors with a fireworks set and no means of leaving (a classic from TS1).

Murder in TS1 did seem simpler. Ah, how I yearn for the good old days.

Funny you mention this. I have been trying to make a ghost for a haunted house and THEY.WILL.NOT.DIE!

I can't kill the bloody things. I wanted a fire to take them out and for an entire sim week, I couldn't get anything to catch on fire.

Take away the door. Leave the phone so they can keep ordering pizza that will never reach them.
