THANKS THIS IS GREAT

i hate paysites as well all do,  but i have given my donation to mts2. they are ALL free and never hassle me for money and i figured since i have tons of files for this my measley 5 bucks didn't hurt my budget...or do they also use "bandwidth money" for personal gain?  :?

Well it wouldn't really matter with MTS2. Even if he is using it for personal gain. There are no files being held back in exchange for money. You get everything for free that you get if you donate. Except when you donate you get put on a faster server, which I heard isn't all that fast.

Oh and there is stuff on MTS2 that you can't use without paying.  There are several recolours of pay meshes.  Not that it goes into Delphy's pocket exactly, but he could have done more for the antipaysite movement than he has done, if he was serious about it.

I think she's referring to the Delphy/Universal Sims thing.

You don't have any way of knowing if the money you give to MTS2 is meeting bandwidth needs or paying someone's salary, since the financial details of the site are not public.

It is different from paysites though, because all content is free.

MtS2 used to have a bar that filled up as they reached the target amount for a year's worth of hosting and then donations would be closed after it was reached but that's gone now.

We don't know how much money is being given to Delphy and what it is being used for.  What I do know is that when Delphy does try to take a break the site crashes and stays that way until he returns.  He does put a lot of work and time into the site.

However, that does not mean he's worthy of being given money to without question to where it's going.  I'd rather directly pay the host than give him money and so as a result I will not donate to MtS2 or any site anymore.

at one point in time there was a page telling you details about what your donations go to and how much things cost (sort of like a monthly expense report), but it disappeared and hasnt come back.
The content (and the help/tutorials) is completely free and it always has been. So it shouldnt be compared to a paysite which holds content back and wont give you any help or support for their own downloads lol

Yeah MTS2 has actually *caused* two sites to have to go pay to pay off huge debts.  If they encourage sites already struggling to take up hosting with them, and then don't give any basic help to monitor wether their costs are mounting, and then give them a huge bill they had NO WAY of knowing was coming - that is less helpful to the health of the community than allowing the site to fold and start up again elsewhere (on a normal capped but safe hosting agreement) when they are ready.
