My game is G-rated and will always stay that way. I am not a prude by any means. I have two kids. I had to make them somehow. Still am I the only one who still think movies need to leave a little to the imagination and this game needs to stay g-rated.

Not meaning to start a nitpickery thing, but isn't the game rated "T"? A G-rated game would be one without woo-hoo - you'd have to get all your sims pregnant with cheats.

Granted, there's nothing in the game that's worse than what you can see on daytime television, but I don't know if I'd want younger kids watching soap operas or Jerry Springer either (or even older kids. Or adults. Or anyone).

That doesn't mean I want tits and ass in my game or anything, but yeah - my 14-year old couldn't buy the Sims 2 game for the Playstation 2 without my permission (he was 12 when he bought it), and it's Sims2 Lite, compared to the PC version. God of War 2, I could see needing permission for, possibly. But Sims 2 for the PS2? I don't see it.

The rating is a GUILDELINE for parents who purchase it. It tells you what you might expect to find in a newly purchased game. But it is only for informational purposes. This game is played by an inordinate number of actual adults, who, of course, would not necessarily feel the need to adhere to arbitrary guidelines. Sure the rating tells what I might find in a newly purchased copy, but once I have the game, and it is made customizable, it is not unreasonable to expect that more adult content would be appropriate for my game.

I have a 15 year old who has played since he was 10. He has his version of the game, and I have mine, on my own private computer. I don't feel the need to play the Sims 2 with the standards I would reserve for my minor child.

That said, please save me from those who would seek to tell grown up people what custom content they should or should not put into their game, daschundsbykayandrobin.  Save that shit for the official Exchange.

Depends on what version of Santa you prefer, AW. There is the guy who sits at the mall and holds kids on his lap all day to get the pics taken and does it for what, three weeks out of the year? Then there are the people who give year round out of a spirit of love in their hearts for other people and don't expect a thing back. Look in the mirror, babe, YOU are Santa. What age do they mean with Teen-rated?

I checked my original Sims and it said: 7+
But for the expansion packs, you need to be 12+
How strange is that?
BTW, I live in The Netherlands, I read a lot of games here are rated 12+, whereas in US they're rated 18+ (or such)

Oh, and since this is the "we hatez Carla Niven" thread: that person (if it can be qualified as one) just sucks >.>

You all know what I meant by what I said about CN. I am not saying all of you fine people cannot go and have your game and do what you want with it. I just enjoy my game the way that it came with the censor blur and all. I know how babies are made I have two of my own that are grown now. This all was started when I said that those last two outfits on CN were perverted. I feel there is enough pronography out there without making our game pornographic. I just feel those outfits crossed a line. If you are going to publish stuff such as these you need to make your site a restricted site.

dachshundsbykayandrobin it is restricted - -No $$ no content.  Alot of CN you can't see if you don't have a membership.  You just get to see it here because it is booty.  BTW, there is much worse - Pandora, XXX Sims, etc.  So, Cardrew is really on the tame side of what is available.  And I do think that your description as "pornographic" might be slightly exaggerated IMO.

No, restricting content as an excuse for charging is a horrible excuse for a paysite.

It's a teen game, lingerie is not pornographic, and if your child's too young to see that sort of thing, they're too young to be on the internet alone.

Keep your kids' net-access limited to a communal computer in a living or family room, and parent, dammit.

I guess I'm Prudence McPrude's sister, then, because I think the outfits  are repulsive.  I have no feeling either way about whether they belong on a sims site per se (although the sims is rated T, there  is always the caveat that "experience may change during game play," and I think it's parents' responsibility to monitor what their teens are downloading.)


 BUT--those outfits are pr0n and it always makes me furious when women are demeaned that way.   :evil:

I thought that all content belongs to EA Maxis and there is no such thing as stealing. That everyone who creates for this game originally basically stole their content from EA Maxis if we are getting nit picky here. So who are we to say someone stole something from someone else. Is that not what we argue about on here on this forum? I am not saying it is right for this creator to charge for items. But we all here argue that the items all belong to ea/maxis and that they are not stolen if we have them here. That there is no such thing as stealing content for this game. That anything out there actually belongs to Maxis/EA.

Hilarious.  I have the censor blur off in my game - I mean they're like barbies, and some of my sims (my brothel sims) have invisible clothing.   I can't say though that I go in for some of the sexy stuff though - I belong to most of those sites for the lingerie.

Now, lest anyone get me wrong, I wasn't trying to pick on dachshundsbykayandrobin at all - and whew, that's a lot to type, can I just call you Doxie?

Me, I think people should put whatever they want in their games. I personally make sure that any undies I download don't have ass crack showing, because to me, that's incredibly "eeew", but if someone wants to dress their Sim in G-strings or longjohns, it's none of my business.

My rule of thumb as far as game content with my kids is, if I wouldn't feel comfortable letting them watch a TV show or movie with it in, I won't let them play games with the same, either. Of course, that's a pretty wide range, since I have a fourteen-year-old and a seven-year-old, and it's not really their ages so much as their personalities that affect the calls I make.

And really, if *I* don't even want to see it, I don't think I want to inflict it on my kids - although buttcrack sims are more offensive on an aesthetic level for me than anything else (much like CN's stuff and a majority of stuff on TSR).

But hey, once you pay the money for the game, and it's on your computer, it's nobody else's call as to what you do with it. It'd be kind of nice to have some kind of warning before HOLY SHIT DANGLY BITS! smacks me in the face at a Sims 2 fan site, though.

I was just playing and trying to give you fellow simmers a hard time about the stolen content buisness...:lol:. I also agree that free items you should ask before borrowing a texture or item made and redoing it. I also agree nothing in this game CC wise should be charged for or I wouldn't be here. I am probably the easiest of going people and well although I did think the outfit was a little too revealing for my taste in my game. I also felt it set women back about 20 years.

If I were a younger simmer and in my more wild days and more nieve about the world and what women have had to put up with it may have been right up my ally 14 years. I am sure there is call for it as I remember a site I use to go to when the Sim1 was around that had chairs, and rugs they could woohoo on. It was hilarious the first time you used it but then it was old. I in my old age of 39 I am more prudish and not into that kind of thing. Sure thing about just calling me doxie. That is fine. You can pick on me anytime you wish or use me as an example. It did not hurt my feelings in anyway.  :wink:

There's a woo hoo rug for TS2 also. I tried it once, but it got old after the first time.
