About GIMP, if anyone here plays The Movies, they had some awesome tutorials on their message boards about plugins and using the program if you're more familiar with photoshop and the like.  I'd dig up my links but the forums moved when the game went from being distributed by EA to Microshaft and are a real bitch to navigate now.  I'd still be doing voice overs there if I could ever actually find anything on the site now.

But if anyone's interested I can probably find some of them by emailing some homies from there.

There were a lot of comparisons made between the two games, and many of us Movies fans wished the character creation was a bit more like that in Body Shop (and that the fake voice overs provided with the game resembled simlish more because man do the Movies ones suck), but I don't think it was ever billed as such.  I first found out about it from a text based game of a similar nature called Hollywood Mogul and it was always advertised as a Movie mogul style game.  Granted the movie making aspects do lend themselves to comparisons.  And I think a paysite or two may have cropped up for that game but I'm not certain.

I wish I had something to contribute - I'm just bumping the thread, really, so we're not dealing with all the troll threads.

Actually, I have no idea how to do a flood fill in Photoshop.
(Aaaargh! That means Atwa has skills that I don't. Somebody tell me quickly, please!)

Step 1. Open Photoshop
Step 2. Select the item you wish to flood fill
Step 3. Select the Paint Bucket Tool (hint; it looks like a paint bucket)
Step 4. adjust the tolerance all the way to 255
Step 5."Flood fill" the item with color or texture (preferably sick-making)
Step.6  Upload to TSR
Step.7  Wait for giddy TSR subscribers to tell you how talented you are.
Step.8  Believe them
Step.9  Repeat steps 1 through 8 until you are "promoted" to Artist Manager

Much obliged, Snarky.  Smiley

But you know what? My Photoshop doesn't have a Paint Bucket Tool. Or at least it is so well hidden that I can't find it.

Should I send the install CD to Atwa, do you think?

I tried a trial of Adobe Photoshop CS3, and it took ages to find it - I think it was something like Layer --> Fill --> Solid Colour - no bucket to be seen.

Ha, got it! Thanks Cala. I never would have looked there myself. If Atwa is using Photoshop she must have spent hours searching for this feature. Isn't it wonderful the lengths she goes to to bring us her lovely recolors.

The paint bucket on the tool bar may be disguising itself as the gradient tool.

Or just do what Cala said.  Cheesy

The gradient tool was a gradient tool. I was expecting to see the bucket easily - but I think they changed it because they wanted more artsy.

Maybe Adobe people have seen Atwa's work, and hope to save us from it.  Noble creatures.

That's why I like GIMP.  It's tools aren't hidden.  Granted, the first time I loaded up some gimp, I felt like a moron when I couldn't get anything to work.  After I got over that It was pretty cool.  I like how easy it makes layering.  Playing in the GIMP is one of my favorite things.  I don't have any tutorials for how to translate that for Bodyshop or anything, but I have a gigantic book called Beginning GIMP that was given to me last year for a birthday present.  500 pages of how GIMP works.  So if anyone ever hit a snafu with some aspect of the gimp program, I could do a looky loo in my gigantic GIMP book.

Wow, I didn't even know there was a paint bucket tool. When I have to flood fill, I use Edit - Fill - 100% (if that's not technically 'flood filling', I don't know what else to call it).

Sometimes the tools aren't hidden, but I can't find them anyway because I'm two steps away from doofus. It took me half an hour to find Burn the first time. I had no idea I was supposed to look under Dodge. ><
