Sad thing is, the Barbie Generation Girls, which just predate Bratz, were wonderful...at the beginning of the decade, Barbie was riding high. Then those pumpkin-headed bitches Bratz come out, with their giant blowjob lips and feet that come off and mini skirts that would look like a belt on a Polly Pocket...and now Barbie's been relegated to the Swimsuit range, cheap 'fashion fever' crap, and princess stuff for little girls. It makes me very sad.

The idea behind the doll is that you create your OWN stories with dolls, you play with them and they have whatever persona you want. But I guess they figure if you need to buy a new doll each time you need a new persona they'll make more $$$

Yeah, even when I was a kid, Barbie was still...like...y'know, different outfits and such were readily available seperately, and she had sort of, an aspirational aspect to her, like the Doctor Barbie, who if you like, modfied her clothes a bit, was all ready for a glamourous night out, or whatever..*sigh*

That's nothing compared to what's happened to poor Sindy though. Up until I was about 11, Sindy was still a proper competitor in the fashion doll market in Britain and had been since the early 60s, with beautiful quality accesories, nice clothes, a healthier sort of shape to Barbie, it was all good, then BlueBird, who made Sindy, folded (taking many toys I coveted as a child, with them) and now, another company has the rights to Sindy, have relaunched her (twice now) and she's the cheapest, tackiest piece of crap I have ever seen, and it makes me sad. I hate when things I loved when I was a child are cheapened  and destroyed.
