I love the classic biggest-artist-on-the-web-at-least-I-think-so hint:
No other software than Photoshop is capable of resizing images and you must be burnt and tortured if you dare to mention some other tool.
:roll: Hell, my ancient (unpaid for) ACDSee resizes images just fine. |

MSPAINT also resizes fine. All my (crappy) graphics work is done in MSPAINT. All custom graphics from this site are either made in, or graffiti'ed crudely on in, MSPAINT.

I hate how a simple photoshop image can end up being over 300k saved as jpg but doing the same thing in paintshop ends up with a ~75k image You can lower the quality a bit, not much difference and the filesize will go down. |

2 out of 3 JPEGs saved in Photoshop turn out corupted for me.
That's why I love PSP... though I save images in best quality there, then open and save them again in IrfanView with higher compression. I find it has a fairly better output than PSP, just my taste...

You can lower the quality a bit, not much difference and the filesize will go down.
Yeah I know about lowering the quality, but some images they're stupid on. I had to lower it so much there were jpg artifacts but when I gave up and just did what I was doing in paintshop instead it still looked great at a fraction of the file size  |

Don't know. I've never had problems with Photoshop myself. And I'm not saying this "because I am an artist who thinks everything besides photoshop is crap". I'm not.

It may really depend on the version of Photoshop and Paintshop, also.
I had Photoshop 6 on my old computer and it had a really useful "save for web" function where I could compare and contrast my current work file vs. up to three different compression methods. I could tweak percentages or file type and all of that. So, on that computer, I would always save Paintshop projects as .psd files and compress them to jpg, gif, or png in Photoshop.

When I save an image made in photoshop, the saved image is actually darker than it looked in photoshop when I view it in another program.
I think I accidentally changed some of the settings because it didn't use to be that way.

I love my Photoshop CS2. It is a perfectly legal copy that came bundled in a package of Adobe goodies with Creative Suite. I didn't pay for it, but it was given to me under a license bought by a company, it's registered and everything. So clearly, I should be charging for my sims content since it was made on legal software.
But yeah, previous to this, my Photoshop 7.0 and CS were totally pirated.
