If TSR can make packages with EA hand-holding, then free tool coders will be able to download that CC, reverse engineer it, then make free, well supported tools much faster than if they had to do it without sample CC to base it on. Then we'll have a lovely, well built tool to make anything we please.

Well, that's looking at the rum bottle half full. -  But I imagine that if EA should go ahead and hand their favorite Fan/Porn portal site a shiny new tool for creating custom content (which will, no doubt, suck) then TSR will finally have the upper hand legally, and the "debate" will pretty much be over. What disturbs me most about this is that the TSR trash learned their "skills" from the free community and are now secretly maneuvering to completely shut out that community from making any content at all. It really does prove what a conniving and thoroughly corrupt group of shits they are and always have been.

^this.  I hope, as noted by Echo, that her, Wes_h, Pes, Inge, et al. will figure out a way to incorporate meshing into Sims 3.  I also hope that if they do, this time they restrict the usage to free creators/sites only.  That would be hilarious.

It'd be a nice symbolic move, but it's not like paysites and TSR in particular are going to care. Like I said, if they don't mind breaking the law, they won't mind violating a non-binding TOU.

I've decided that I'm going to Arrquire Sims 3 - if they do keep securom and other invasive DRM off the disk, and with the planned leaving of of Ads, if I like it, I'll buy the game - after all, if EA does their bit, I want to encourage them.  I'm just not spending 50 or 60 dollars for a game I don't like.

And that said, with those conditions, I sure as hell am going to be making CC and if I can, I'll help make those tools, even if its just bug hunting on the QA for it.  I know there is discussion of making the AUP for the new tools free use only.  No, it wouldn't stop folks like TSR, but it might stop some new person from becoming pay.

But, I see it this way, unless EA somehow tries to make it illegal to not make a profit on CC, any CC I make will take away from money TSR makes.  And that's fine with me.

I'm with you SoggyFox. I would never be able to make a tool, but if I could help with finding bugs, I would. What Coconut posted, was I suprised or shocked? No, not really. I didn't expect that "legal document" they had to sign, but I'm not surprised by it. And trying to make them the only people that can make and and host content, its not all that shocking. TSR would do anything they could to keep making money. And about them getting special tools from EA, I hope that is just them boosting their ego, and to make it seem like they are the best site out there for content. I would be surprised, but not entirely surprised if EA did do such a thing. But seeing as they have heard the community about the ads, and there is some word pointing to they heard us about securom, I think that they may hear that we are upset about CC, but if they did and gave TSR the tools, then they heard us, and should have used a translator to understand what we said.

I hope Sims 3 is held back for eternity because they can't get the bugs out, Thomass and company are investigated and shut down by the authorities in his country for tax evasion and fraud of all sorts, and Sony gets taken to the cleaners in court regarding their DRM. That being said, I don't really have any curiosity about the new game that is supposed to be coming out. All of this shit has pretty much ruined the damn game for me as it is.

Last night, I was a hair away from deleting my whole game set up on my computer. The disks were in the bin, game disks and DVD's of custom content; the whole lot of it. I was about to just say fuck it all. Ready to walk away and spit on the bastards that have ruined it all. It wasn't anything that anyone had done to me. It was the whole mind set of the company and the bastards that live off of them like a remorra does a shark, a mushroom off of decomposing organic manner or a worm in the guts of a dog. I've had enough of the parasites acting like they are the top of the food chain.

That is all pay sites are. Squash the two words together, change one letter, add another and you have this: pay site = parasite. Somehow, the parasites living off of EA Games have managed to befriend the entity that they leech off of. We fight, we provide proof and still, they are there. Yes, word is getting out about them. It looked like we were really getting somewhere. And then, come the invites to the Creator's Camp and we all see the results of that. Frankly, it scares me that some dumb son of a bitch can run a company like EA and NOT see the damage those bastards at TSR are doing to the game that brought so many people into a community. But, I guess he's so busy ruining the damn thing himself, that he doesn't mind the help.

Oh, why did I stay after all of that last night? Spite, pure and simple. I want the chance up until the end of this community that I get to hack a loogie into the eyes of bastards that would steal from everyone involved in the community, even if it is done just using the means of the electronic venue that is the internet. There is something seriously wrong with people like them, not even going to try and put a name to it. Those are the windmills that become giants. And it's so much damn fun to knock them down and watch them try to claim that they're fine and dandy after we get in a good hit. Piss off, Thomass and others!!

I feel sort of the same Paden.  The sims 2 seems a lot less fun lately.  For me it feels very tainted.  I have thought about packaging them all together and posting them back to EA.  It wouldn't get me anywhere, as they would still have made money from me. Damn it, I bought my games and my voice is just as important as any toerag's from the TSR.  My opinions are purely game related without being tainted by the urgent need to make money from other people's hard graft. The list of why I won't buy the sims 3 in order as I see it:-

Oh Whoa and Misery!  Suffering and Cross Bearing.  Our previously pure and untainted game, designed by WIll Wright for only the purest of motives, with no trace of commercial gain in it's ancestry has been ruuuuuuuinnnned by TSR and EA.  I shall pound my chest in sorrow, and play only freeware programmed by monks who have their bits handcarried down from the top of a sacred mountain by devout peasants who abstain from all eating, drinking and sexual pleasure for at least two years before and after.

I know what you're talking about Paden. It's just been one slap in the faceafter another with EA lately. I usually don't let these things bother me, but the combined wank of TSR and EA is really testing my nerves. All it takes is one more sheep bleating about how awesome TS3 is going to be for me to completely snap.

Yeah I'm with ya there...I feel soo pissed hearing all these things!  Any hype/excitement I felt for TS3 has dwindled into a small heap of shit. If EA gives tsr cc tools, I am out! They have successfully ruined TS2 enjoyment level. When things start getting illegal and shady and can damage and hurt others-yea that's way more than I bargained for. (this goes for everyone) This will just be the icing on the cake if this is true.  What the hell kind of game do they expect TS3 to be if only one set of "creators" can do cc?? (And seriously EA-have you looked at all their stuff? :gives EA a moment: You still seriously think they're the best of the sims cc community!? [TSR must give really good head...] BS.
