Perhaps the reason Coconut uses LJ is because you don;t need to be friends to view it?

You don't have to be "friends" on IJ either.  You can set your posts as public.  But if you have to ask to read my journal, a certain someone will have a much harder time getting it removed.

The problem with sites like Livejournal is that their TOS allows them to circumvent the first amendment (and any equivalent laws guaranteeing the right to free speech). And yes, there is something in there saying that they can suspend/ban for whatever reason. It really sucks. I hope they do the right thing.

Yeah, I know. It just pisses me off when someone who, to me, is obviously in the wrong gets their way.

They had some sort of scheduled maintenance going on. I thought it was just last night, but either I got it wrong or the maintenance didn't go so well.
