THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I started a social group on MTS for people who like doing repository stuff, or having it - so folks can discuss ideas and techniques.  And I just don't believe that no one ever thought about it before - makes matching a cute nursery easier, especially with some of those other cute recolours out there Smiley

Using Calalily's tutorial, I made a Cosmo!

...okay, that's not actually why I'm here.  I've retextured a PeggyG hair, and I'm very happy with the way the texture itself came out, but I'm seeking some feedback/reassurance on the reds.

Basic idea of the texture.  In the past, the stuff I handpainted looked maybe a little too close to the Maxis-match end for my personal preferences, though it looked well for that.  I'm really happy with how this one came out.  I think I got it just shiny enough for my tastes, and it looks pretty sleek and fine.  Okay.

I'm waffling on this red.  I'm not sure if it's too bright...or if it's okay.  Especially if I am also offering this red:

Which is darker, and I'm really happy with it.  I'm thinking the lighter one would be a bit much if it were the only red I had, but if I have both, they provide a nice contrast.  I'm just not sure.

I much prefer the darker red to the lighter red, however, they all look good!

I use darker reds - but you could always do what Nouk does, and make a darker and lighter colour pack - I love that.  I download the darker pack.

Your cosmo looks great!  Kiss

I usually dl the light & dark packs & pick 'n choose which to keep in CAS, but I do rather prefer the darker red here...both quite nice tho!

To my taste, the lighter looks a bit too orangy, if you could manage more of a copper penny colour i'd love it though - the textures are great, its just a shade issue with me.  And I love the cosmo myself.

Quinctia, prefer the darker red to the lighter!  Kiss That may be more of a personal preference though, I generally prefer darker auburn reds.

The hairs look great, and I agree that the darker is preferable to the lighter.  Both are nice, though.

And I am loving that cosmo!

I prefer the darker red, as well. When did you say that we could download this? Grin

Thanks for the feedback!  I am intending on doing two color families with this, although the lighter one will lack a black because I'm so picky with black, and I don't like having nearly black hairs in my black bin.  I even have two grays for once!

But it looks like I will go and tweak the lighter red shade a tad, it's a wee bit bright, so I will turn down the saturation and possibly make it lean more towards red than it is now.  It's always a bit of guesswork making texture colors with only bodyshop lighting to go by as you're working.  Well, if I'm making a neon, I can usually tell if it's neon enough in Bodyshop, but that's not qutie the same.

Once I get it to my satisfaction, I have to bin the things and go take some real previews in another neighborhood, with more skintone diversity than the S4 females in the new legacy and my self-sim.  XP  So maybe tomorrow or so I'll have it up.

As for the cosmo, I'm glad it doesn't look horrible, but that's thanks to the tute.  It also needs to be scaled down and textured better for me to want to keep it in my own game.  You should probably wait for Calalily's upcoming set, which she is working on, if I'm to believe what's stated in the tutorial.  XD

Thanks Spunkysim, glad you liked them!

Quinctia that mesh is quite cool! Are you able to make the glass look more transparent too? I wouldn't mind meshing, but I'd need to get the significant other to download Milkshape and it's tool on to this herePC, as I am not an admin on it (I'd download lods of crap for it if I was Tongue)

The darker red seems more realistic to me.  To me, the lighter red looks like a dye job gone bad.  It's not quite the red/orange natural color, too light for that, yet it's too dark for a true strawberry blonde.

Well, I did the mesh with Cala's tutorial, and the way we set up the mesh in that, the transparency is determined by the level of transparency in the object's texture.  So it can definitely be made more transparent, I'd just have to go back into the layered version of my test texture and make the layer I put the glass on even more transparent.  Cheesy

And I'm going to let you all in on a little secret.  I generally don't post things fishing for compliments, I post things to get reinforcement on the stuff that I am being critical on, to see whether I'm being overly critical or not.  XD  In this case, I wasn't.

Here's a shot of the set that the toned-down light red is in:

And you can get it here.
