In our history rulers hired Swedish vikings as mercenaries and guards. They apparently fouded Russia and traveled all over eastern Europe. Trading in amongst other things people from the Slavic countries and thus they became slaves.

Talking about TSR being Swedish, isn't there a way to show what we think of it by gathering some Swedish simsfans for a protest outside of their office or showing our disgust in some other form? Maybe letting the Swedish media know about their copyright infrigements etc.

I don't get it. I clicked the link and saw some fugly tees. But no matter how long I look at them I can't seem to really see what they're about and why I should care.

I'm sure there's a reason, it's not a dig at you for finding it, Capn, one would just think that they'd make something that more pirates would get. How else is it supposed to sting us?

TSR has announced it officially in the newsletter.  A new EULA is up at EA - main change is that they now support paysites, and other changes are mentioned as imminent...

It's a little strange though, because first EAxis said that paysites were illegal, and now they're supporting them? Someone's indecisive.

I think EA is just back peddled. Trying to get out of the pissing match between Paysites and places like PMBD. I really think they don't want to be in it and are trying to give paysites something, and yet not take anything from us. If they had wanted it 100% iron clad, they would have said no filesharing. Until they do, I plan on staying the course. All they have done with this change is muddied the water even more. It is a shame really, they had the opportunity to make everything crystal clear and they didn't.

You will note that the EULA that TSR is linking to is specific to their "Content Manager Tool", which is defined on the Sims2.com as:

The Sims 2 Content Manager is a simple tool that allows you to view modified content added to your game. You can then enable, disable or delete the content from this tool and have this reflected in The Sims 2 game and it's expansion packs. (http://thesims2.ea.com/help/index.php?pid=Help)

There is no part of this description that implies that this tool can be used to create anything, or that they've changed any of their older EULAs. I'll believe it when I see EULAs from the original game and expansions changed to reflect this supposed commercial content allowance. There really isn't proof of much of anything here despite all of the changes that the article implies have already happened or are about to arrive. Not to mention the fact that this EULA still says you can't sell the software.

Edit: I just saw the fansite kit bit in the other thread, but I think my comment still stands. As well, this EULA also says this "Your License is limited to the intellectual property rights in the Software and does not include any rights to other patents, trademarks, copyrights or other intellectual property owned or licensed by EA". It all seems pretty indefinite to me and like Bigtruckgirl said is really designed to avoid having to take either side. I don't think TSR should really be crowing about having absolute rights to sell as yet.

I'll believe that TRS has a right to sell when EA sends me a certified copy of a contract that they have with the rotten motherfuckers. Wish they would quit playing with their balls and figure out that the longer they fuck around with this shit, the more people are getting pissed off and actually saying to hell with them. I'm almost one of them, but.... I still like to build my little houses, have my odd families, and collect my shit to put into the game. But, like I said, until they actually have a press conference where members of rival groups, us as the good guys and TSR as the fuckwit assholes, are told exactly what is and isn't allowed, then TSR can go out and track Gypsy Moths for all I give a damn. I don't trust them and never will. And if EA caves to TSR, I will personally snap with one hand snap each and every game CD that I have made by them. (I know I can do it one-handed, did it to some porn disks of my ex-husband's that I found over the weekend in a box of my old clothing... oooooh, was I ever pissed off!)

I actually think they kicked themselves in the balls a bit with that statement in their newsletter. My first reaction, as a sheepie, would have been "Huh? EA says Charging for CC is OK? When wasn't it ok? What's this about?" One quick search on the search engine of your choice gives you a link to this: http://phorum.mustnotbenamed.com/posting.php?mode=reply&t=192, a lovely discussion including some posters here about the legality of TSR according to the EULA at that time. One of the poster's signatures links to the booty.

Anyways, it's shocking to me. They are, in effect, recognizing that the issue ever existed. This goes against their credo of censoring every single thing that has anything to do with PMBD.

What people need to do if TSR is annoying the hell out of them, which I can understand because the site is a crap-producing waste of time.. is not subscribe. Way back when, before I developed commonsense I used to use my free membership and download there for about five or six hours. The funny thing is, I never used any of it except Suzy's and it got deleted close to straight away once it got in the game. I don't like a site that wastes five or six hours of my time for no good reason.

Tell their friends not to subscribe. And every time you see someone pointing someone to TSR for a specific peice of content, you tell the person where to find the free equivalent out there in the community. The more we encourage people not to spend money at TSR, the quicker they will dissapear into the ether.
