Having dating site ads in general is not really appropriate for a site that claims to be family friendly, regardless of what orientation they're geared towards.

If those same ads were on MTS2 I would not give them a second thought because they do not preach about being all righteous.

I think most of us would have the same reaction if it had been the "Meet singles in your area!"  ads.  And remember, this is TSR we're talking about, the site that is about as funky and unconventional as the National Republican Convention.   Considering Doc got his ass handed to him there once for having a set of Tshirts with the pictures of serial killers on the front and the FBI logo and date brought to justice on the back, I can imagine there are people who frequent TSR, handing over their money, that would be pretty upset.  Remember, most of their customers live in the USA, where violence is peachy keen, but sex is TEH EBIL!

 Both ads, graphic wise, are tasteful.  The lesbian ad is really tasteful, and it doesn't pop out at you.   The gay bear one?  That could lead to issues.

The condom one? Again, you don't expect to see a condom ad in The Happiest Sim Fansite in the World!

Again, if those ads were about anywhere else, I don't think there is anyone here that would care.  They seem fine.  But if you're TSR, trying to present yourself as the Disney Land of Sim sites.  "It's all friendly and happy here!"  then those ads are wrong. 

The only thing that would be worse, are the ads for actual porn sites, where they show closeups of kitties and roosters, if you get my drift.

Agreed Darqstar. You get warnings at the BBS because you mention InSim which *gasp* changes the PG13 rating of the game. Yet, I have seen nothing at InSim (the main site not ISA) which could cause the parents to go screaming and saying "You have smut on your site!". Yet, that is why we have this thread when you look at the content that screams this is not PG13!

TSR claims to have the happy rainbow glittery pretty pony site where all is lollipops and daffodils. Children can play and run free in the grass and no smut on our site! But when you look at the content, it makes you wonder what they consider PG13.

As for the ads, it makes you wonder what ad service they signed up for. Not knowing anything about the ad services for web sites, shouldn't there be some kind of filter to block certain kinds of ads on your site? And no, I am not against gay dating, just the hypocrisy of TSR claiming to be oh so above the common masses that wallow in the mud of smut.

You WON'T see those ads on InSIM, I know that for damn sure. Also, before the Piscean Revolution, Walt had signed up or was already with the same ad company as *The Sims Resource and they were beginning to appear. Dating ads are all well and good, but not on a site that has twelves running around underfoot. I think the main outrage about the mod seems to stem from the fact that you can choose to cancel a pregnancy, should you not wish for your sims to spawn just yet.

As far as the BBS goes, they can suck it. There are plenty of sites that offer fixes for the game that actually work and you can air ideas and have civil debate without some SM or Maxoid breathing down your neck like a demented gorilla trying to steal the cup from the hand of Bugs Bunny. Some of the adults at the BBS share the same mentality of the children that hang out there, as well. Please note, I said, "some" which does not mean that I think all of them do.

*The Sims Resource was typed out in full due to some folks using the phrase THE TSR, which annoys because it's rather redundant. Either type it all out, or just say TSR, pwease?

I have to wonder if Captain PC here is actually gay and thus in a position to be offended by this perceived slight. Because I've done the whole lesbian dating thing and I'm not the least bit offended by the way people here raise questions about these ads. It's almost always the twitchy PC lefties who jump at every perceived slight towards the minorities.

And anyway, we're not talking smutty, we're talking PG-13. Nuances: they matter.

Here's a suggestion from me to you: take some muscle relaxers, washed down with your favorite liquor, to help calm you down a little. Now go warm up in a hot tub and feel those angry thoughts drift away.
