I was a lurker before I ever posted. I saw Nouk's post about the sharing names and addresses thing and gave it a read. And I'd heard about this site from Susim's old site. I was a subscriber at TSR, but let that lapse when I read about what shits they are. The only two computer games I play are NWN1 online and the Sims both 1 & 2, but I woke up and smelled the coffee.

I agree with Paden and Neriana. Thank you for expressing it best.

What we need in order to have Mac instructions for SecuROM is to have Mac people join RYG and help us put them together-if you're prepared to help us, that'd be lovely. It seriously bothers us that we've got nothing for the folks with Macs, but if we can get a couple of you guys to get involved and help us, I'm sure the issue can be resolved.

That's just it. At least for Sims 2, we've never been affected. You'd have to go to other gaming communities to find out if their Mac ports also contained SecuRom. I'm not much of a programming guru and I run on an older Mac, so I'm afraid I'd not be much help for what you are looking for. But thank you very kindly for the offer.  Smiley

I'm going to step in here because first of all with Sims 2, the Macs were not affected with SecuRom. Why? Because thank the Maker Aspyr took the code EA gave them and did only the game port. Because SecuRom was a third party program, they did nothing, I repeat nothing with the code. Yes, there is a Mac version available, but it is not Aspyr's job to mess with the SecuRom code. It is their job to import the code for whatever platform.

So, if you run Windows on your Intel Mac, the instructions are valid from the RYG/Prism site. I can't run Windows because I have a PowerPC Mac which doesn't have the Intel chip so I was never affected by SecuRom. If people really made noise about wanting Mac workable versions of things, I'm sure the programers could look around the Sims Community and find many Mac Users out there who would be willing to help. I know I've found them. It's all a matter of communication. I lived without SimPE, so I found other hacks that worked like InSim and TwoJeff's Blinder.

Thanks for testing it Nightmare/Sblade.

Yikes! Rather glad I don't have Sims 3. Still, I think Thoma$$ and company should be reported.

I know you can have the ads from your ad service tailored to what your client base is. So for instance, if you had a website about receipts and cooking, you'd want ads for grocery stores or online cooking supplies stores (something like that) and if any inappropriate ads popped you, you complain to the ad service and they remove them. But it is your responsibility as the web host to take care of it, not your users.

TSR forgets a lot of basic business common sense. But then this is Thoma$$ we are talking about, so he never makes sense.

I never worked for TSR.  But I was an active member there for quite awhile.  And I think I can explain some of its appeal.  It was a supportive group.  If someone posted about a bad experience or an illness, there would soon be 10 replies.  There's an ongoing thread--it's been there forever--about members with disabilities.  It's a place where they can discuss issues that are serious to them without being put down. Some kid once directed a vicious ethnic slur at me. The admins pm'ed me to see if I was ok.  Things changed once Thomas came on the scene, of course.  But some of the feeling of community remains.  For you tough PMBD and MATY guys, I'm sure this sounds laughable.  But I can see why members--including SA's and FA's--were attracted to the place and why some stay there. (Money issues aside).

I have to agree with dietofworms to some extent. I play Sims on a Mac and there has always been a large Mac presence at TSR in the forums. It's only been about a year/year and half ago that we Mac Users got our own spot on the BBS. I've made some good friends online through TSR and although we no longer hang out there anymore, we still keep in touch.

Now, thanks to many other sites (here, the BBS, S2C, Black Pearl, and many others too numerous to name) we have a great networking for Macs. So thanks to all for their support. And thanks to all my friends.

If you think of TSR in business terms, Steve is the main boss, with Thomas like a supervisor or team lead who has direct contact with the employees (FA's, SA's, etc.). Thomas's lies at first were believed because no one had proof of him doing anything shady and human nature tends to believe and trust at first (most people not all I realize). But then as time went on and people began to catch Thomas's lies or double talk and fortunately keep record of it so that now we caught his lies so many times, he (Thomas) can't keep track of them all any more so now he looks like the fool he really is.

I just hope that no one applies for FA's for Sims 3 and TSR crashes big time.

The Irish have preserved their version of Gaelic. One of my favorite musical groups is Irish and has recorded traditional folk songs and written new songs in Irish Gaelic. Clannad, the band, is fluent in their native language. Enya (who is the lead singer's younger sister) sang with the group before she went solo. And by the way, I am an American (of German, English, Irish and Scots decent).

Anyway, cool bathroom. I am not sure what I'll use it for now, but I will use it at some point.

My husband and I were in Disney World in Florida about 15 years ago on vacation. We stayed at one the on sight hotels and they opened one of the parks early to the hotel guest (a different one each day). We went to MGM for breakfast and were eating outside. One lady got up to get some butter and a bird hopped right up on the table and grabbed her toast. She wasn't gone for more the a few seconds. The birds had no fear of humans and there were many signs posted around saying not to feed the wildlife, but the "wildlife" fed itself.

I'll make some of Darqstar's awesome fudge.  Grin I love that receipt and so does my husband. I've been playing around with things to add to it. Need to make some more again soon.

Thinking about what Cala said I think Thoma$$ may have put Atwa up to "hack" Buggybooz's MTS2 site. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that bubbled to the surface soon too. They want to "gear up" for the Sims 3 which I think is going to fail big time. And what kind of floodfill is T$R going to offer that's so hot?
27  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR: In Ur Accounts, Deletin Ur Stuffs! on: 2009 May 06, 21:45:36
*shakes her head* I really cannot believe this is still happening. Thoma$$ lies to everyone! And Atwat still thinks he is god's gift to Simdom. Those two belong together.

Get better Soggy. Sending good karma your way.

Just remember your double sided tape to hold that costume... er bathing suit in place. Can't have less than PG-13 on T$R you know.

I second what Soggy said and will add we missed you. Glad to see you back.
