Yes. I hate it when I find a good outfit and I can't get the mesh, because it's from a site that has closed or something.

I ran into the same very thing this morning when I found some skirts with boots I wanted and the mesh is on a site no longer there...

Well, with this update on my site, I've switched to a mesh-included policy for all of my downloads (yes, the creators still get credit and links and all that). This includes meshes with TOSes that say "DON'T!" and paysite meshes. All the constant site going up and down thing and people pulling their shit or making it pay pissed me off, and the fact that it was getting too hard for downloaders to get to the meshes they needed prompted me to just go ahead with it.

It's a good thing. It would be even better if more sites would adopt a policy similar to this one >.>

ahem *hint hint* Smiley

err, before people ask, www.digitalperversion.net

I approve too, some times I just get so irritated downloading then find I out I have to search for the mesh somewhere else.

3  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / What EP would you most like to see for Sims2? on: 2007 January 29, 23:20:55

What, is it a rule that every sims forum HAS to have this topic? Can't we just be happy with what EA gives us? WTF does this have to do with paysites?

Why should I be happy with what they give me? I want something that will make my game fun again and magic will do that.  With seasons that will make it perfect for a magical ep for my medieval fantasy neighborhoods and countless hours of fun in my game once again.  My sims will be complete and I can play my game in my sims world.  I loved makin magic, it was and still is my favorite ep.  Don't get me wrong, I do like superstar and vacation, but they just don't take the candle to makin magic and they just don't hold my attention or have the fun factor as makin magic did.

Well, on MTS2 there's already magic stuff, so a sims2 magic EP would be void.

Why would it be void? That's a second party creation.. I don't want that. I want a magical ep from Maxis.  I want one where the game recognizes the magic being part of the game not done by using modification that may cause problems with the game later on.

The new EP Seasons is releasing soon and there is talk about a Vacation EP being next.

What EP (if any) would you most like to see for Sims2?

Magic!!!  I don't want a vacation one next.  My sims need magic.  I need to turn some sims into toads.. and have fun with my game again instead of being bored with it.

Where have they all gone? Where are the updated ones? They aren't in the TSR folder. Have they been moved somewhere else?

I was just skimming the "Why do people hate paysites?" thread at S2C, and I found myself getting infuriated at Delphy.  The holes in the discussion where posts have been edited or completely burninated got worse and worse as you went on - some sort of intellectual Swiss cheese!
I've collected all the "holes" from three pages of the thread.  It's rather disturbing in its length, let alone the reasons given.

Page 3 of thread:
-Last edited by Delphy : 12-15-2006 at 08:27 AM. Reason: Justifying something as a "test" still doesn't make it right to re-distribute things without others consent

Some of us are saving this thread, to encapsulate one of the rare moments that honest, free speech and healthy debate was allowed on S2C!

A lot of people in this thread are anti-Paysite, but the thread starter posed an interesting question which deserves both sides of the discussion, not just one.

I would like people to therefore explain why they like paysites, and why they pay money for them. Note this that this does not mean you can just say "I like (insert site here)". You have to say "I like (insert site here) and I support them being a paysite becuase of X and Y and Z". In other words, clarify your ethos. Let's not have this all one sided with the nays, shall we?

I am watching what people say here, and any discussion that strays off the topic will be dealt with accordingly, as will specific bashes against people and linking to sites that promote theft of intellectual properly.

With that said, I will leave this open for a while longer to see where it goes - this topic gets raised every couple of days it seems, so in the holiday spirit, I wont lock it down unless you lot cause trouble.

"You have to say..." "I am watching what people say here..." GRR the bastard makes me angry. And of course the very next post was a sheep thanking him for bringing order. *sigh*
Back to the list (still on page 5):

-This message has been deleted by Delphy. Reason: Off topic
-This message has been deleted by Delphy.
-At this point is something very confusing: Delphy eloquently presents many of the arguments Blue, Surelyfunke, and Pescado had been using.  He makes excellent points.  I agree with what he says.  *shakes head*
-This message has been deleted by Delphy. Reason: Why not just *ask* the site in question instead of cluttering up this thread. He was probably justified in deleting this one, looking at the other posts by this dumbass sheep.
-A post by the afore-mentioned dumbass sheep:

Well said Delphy. Wow, I never heard an admin curse before on a Sims 2 message boards. As for atavera's custom instruments, I am angry. Nobody cannot get his downloads anymore because he deleted all of his post. I was really hoping to get his stores, now that I could unzip them. But of chorse he deleted them before I could even save them onto a disc. Why?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh.  There's another ass-licking at the end of this page (STILL pg. 5!):

I hope that you consider this on topic, but I bow to your superior knowledge.

Okay, 5 pages is about enough for folks to get the idea.  I just wanted to put things into perspective.  I also wanted to vent to people who WON'T delete my posts or lock this thread (or ban me).

BTW, the entire 35-page piece of Swiss cheese is still online: http://forums.sims2community.com/showthread.php?t=30984&page=1&pp=25

Yeah, my post was one of those many that got deleted by that tyrant with a statement telling me to stay on topic.. I was on topic. He just didn't like what I said.

Pets just about finished Sims for me. Such a small Ep and they couldn't even get that right. Really pissed me off. I don't even have the game loaded right now. Haven't played in a month? But I want to play now and then so I will probably reload it after the patch comes out.

As for Seasons: oh hell no. Great concept, but EA has more than proven they will allow it to ship all fucked up and then we'll have to wait more. Screw that crap. I'll buy Seasons when it goes for $10 AND a patch is available! lol

It is kinda fun to to watch everyone get all swept up into the EA spin on it...Sheeple.....

I haven't had the problems with pets that everyone is experincing.. I still have all my downloads and they still all worked but one, and it has been updated it and it now works.  None of my stiff disappeared.  I am satisfied with how my game is running.

How bad was the earthquake? Hope they get out ok.

Well, apparently it was largely uninhabited there and only two people died, which makes it somewhat of a nonevent.

Sad to hear about the deaths, and glad to hear it wasn't a bad one.
