Well, parts of her may still be real. Like, um, maybe her earlobes? The rest looks like collagen, silicone and botox held together with a wad of yesterday's chewing gum.

That's one of the scariest looking human beings I've ever seen in my life. Good thing I'm all growed up and past the nightmare stage. I think. I hope. I really, really hope.

Quote
If being "batshit insane," to quote Steerpike, wasn't the Soup's overriding characteristic one could almost make a convincing theory for her being some sort of paysite double agent. I mean first the deletion of PMBD's forum when she was an admin there, then protecting her favoured paysites so their stuff wasn't put in the booty and finally getting a list of people's RL info by promising them that only she and EA would ever see it and then getting it conveniently hacked.

That said, I subscribe to nuttier than a bag of squirrels rather than actively malicious when it comes to her case.

That's a quote from the GOS link. The reason I'm posting it here is that I've been thinking "Why?". As in why in the world would anyone sign anything started by BlueSoup? If she broke her arm, I wouldn't sign her cast. The woman isn't that far from being another Atwat/CrapDime. Besides the stuff mentioned in the quote- Second Life anyone? She's a nut. I wouldn't trust her with a fake name pulled out of my ass 1000 miles from where I actually live- no matter what she wanted the information for.
I'm sure signing the petition seemed like a good idea at the time. Unfortunately it's turned out to have been a bad idea. The information is out. Now that it's out, arguing about the why/where/how won't get anyone anywhere. You all know that people (Thomass and Atwat/CrapDime and more) from TSR troll here. Don't feed the fire. Don't give them any reason to make up any statements about "the pirates". Don't give them a reason to sit back and point and laugh.

That said..Thomass, Atwat/CrapDime and anyone else from TSR? Want my address? I'll give it to you. Meet you at the corner and be sure to bring a lunch. I'll bring the psychiatrist. The lunch is for me to nom while you all are getting your heads shrinked- that's sure to be a long, drawn out process and I'm sure I'll get hungry. Wouldn't want to ruin my fun by leaving to go get foods.

edited to clarify: By anyone else from TSR, I really don't mean ANYone else. Just the "main players".

Well, it could be considered libel if it's meant to be a list of people accused of being pirates. But, if anyone wanted to take it to court as being libelous, they'd have to prove that being on that list hurt their reputation, their livelyhood. Which would be hard to do. If someone on that list has their own site (for example) and people start posting that they won't frequent that site because of the list, that'd be a bit different but a judge would still most likely throw it out of court.
Now, if that list were to be passed around in your real life- to all your family, friends, employers, etc., with the intention of discrediting you..that would be a different story, too. However, how would being on a list discredit anyone? Even if it is a list of supposed pirates? It's a he said/she said situation. Atwat says you are, you say you aren't. The list itself means nothing that way.

Forget about libel. Kick their asses for making your information public without your knowledge or consent.

Thanks for that link, Cat. Since I don't have TS3..I don't look at or for content for it. That Sim- and the reason she was created- is awesome and the comments show how touched people are.

After reading the statement about tjstreak most likely not being a lawyer- I'd have to agree with that. He/she honestly  thinks that the EULA isn't a valid contract? Hmmm..my neighbor and I could scribble out an agreement on a napkin and both sign it. As far as I'm aware, that document would be binding. Also, as far as I'm aware- verbal agreements are binding. So, when someone reads a EULA (any EULA) and agrees with it's contents and continues with the installation- doesn't that make that EULA a valid contract?
The only thing I can really think of that isn't valid is any contract entered into with someone under the age of 18. Then again, I'm getting old and my memory isn't what it used to be. And maybe things are different outside of the US.

Another important aspect of defamation is the difference between fact and opinion. Statements made as "facts" are frequently actionable defamation. Statements of opinion or pure opinion are not actionable. In order to win damages in a libel case, the plaintiff must first show that the statements were "statements of fact or mixed statements of opinion and fact" and second that these statements were false. Conversely, a typical defense to defamation is that the statements are opinion. One of the major tests to distinguish whether a statement is fact or opinion is whether the statement can be proved true or false in a court of law. If the statement can be proved true or false, then, on that basis, the case will be heard by a jury to determine whether it is true or false. If the statement cannot be proved true or false, the court may dismiss the libel case without it ever going to a jury to find facts in the case.

Statements of opinion or pure opinion are not actionable: This backs up what I previously said.

Libel involves the written word and this includes stuff on the internet. Yes, a person CAN take offense and take someone to court- even if the person who wrote the offending material states that it's their opinion. So, YES, stating a libelous opinion is punishable by law. HOWEVER, in court, the statement has to be proven to be TRUE to be punishable.

So...unless Evi really is a pedophile and is willing to take everyone to court for sayiing that she is or that they think she is...

I'll let the rest of that sentence hang as I'm sure everyone here can figure it out for themselves. Let me state for the record that I've never said that I think Evi is a pedophile or that she IS one. However, I AM of the opinion that something is not right there. Before anyone gets their panties in a twist about that: it could be anything. She DOES seem fixtated on children- that could be because she truly loves children (in a non-gross way) or it could be because she lost a child. I don't know and it's none of my business. I don't like her creations, therefore I stay away from them. I don't go searching for them.

Hey Paden and everyone else:

Here's how you can avoid arguing about Evi and any tendencies she may or may not have...say "In my opinion..." before you mention pedophile. Why? Because here in the US, I could walk up to a cop and say "In my opinion, you're an asshole" and not get into a speck of trouble about it. Why? Because I'd be stating my opinion. Which in the US is not punishable by law in any way.  Wink

http://www.blackpearlsims.com/showthread.php?t=31513 - laundry clutter posted at BPS. Is this one a Sims 3 version? The one at BPS is for the Sims 2, I think.
39  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR: IN UR COMPUTER, VIRUSIN' UR FILES! on: 2009 October 07, 03:01:37
I've been trying to post a response to all of this for the past hour. I keep deleting it. Why? Because what I've typed isn't the answer I really want to post. The answer I really want to post is this: Grow up. Wake up. Realize that the secret that was posted has merit and instead of arguing and fighting AROUND the issue- come to an agreement. Either pitch in and do something to change how people perceive PMBD these days or abandon ship. It's that easy.
Sorry, but there are a lot of people who think this place is going downhill. It's too bad they're not all brave enough to actually come here and post their feelings instead of making posts elsewhere, talking about it elsewhere or making anonymous replies to a secret. As long as nobody is willing to let their true feelings be known, nothing will ever change.

Most of the pages since the link to the secret have nothing to do with that secret. This has went from "Did you see..", to a stab at talking about it to wondering why people aren't posting here anymore. Ok. Think about that for a moment. Paleo and Darqstar aren't the only ones who've been quiet lately. There are quite a few people who don't post anymore- or do so rarely when they used to be fairly vocal. One person getting caught up in real life...ok. Two people- still believable. When you get to double digits, I get skeptical. I can't speak for any of them since I haven't asked any of them why- but I can't help but think that some of them just don't want to be associated with PMBD anymore. (I'm mainly thinking of people who I KNOW are still active in the Sims community because I "see" them elsewhere.)

There IS way too much fighting amongst members lately. Which is a shame. Fighting rarely solves anything. Especially amongst those supposedly on the same side. It's more likely to cause division amongst the people involved- which in the end will just widen the crack pointed out in the secret to the point where PMBD will be the kid nobody wants to play with. If that's what you all want to see happen- don't change a thing. If you all don't want to see that happen, stop harping at each other about stuff that has nothing to do with destroying paysites and pitch in to get PMBD back on track. (I'd love to stick around and help out with that...but the internet is an endangered species around my house.)

Well said, dee.  Smiley

Since dee already said most of what I would've said (what I was trying to say in between kids interrupting me and pushing buttons on the phone) the only thing I have to say now is this:
Krumpet, while I applaud you for posting an intelligent and fairly well thought out post, I'm left wondering how old you are. The whole "geezer" thing, and the way you seem to think there's nothing wrong with pirating software. It IS wrong and getting caught has serious consequences- your way of thinking is rather 12.
If you really think that pirating software is alright- check out the "Show us your games" thread here. You'll see that most (if not all) of the established members here have paid for their games. The most "pirated" thing asked about is a no-cd crack. And that's only to protect one's computer since EA thinks it's alright to put undisclosed programs on their discs. I use a no-cd crack. I don't want SuckyROM on my computer.
This site isn't about pirating software at all. It's not even about the booty. (Meh. Sucky pay-site stuff is still sucky no matter where or how you get it.) And being known for pirating software IS a negative attribute.

Ignore it and it'll go away. Feed it and it'll hang around the back door forever...like some stray dog. An ugly, unlovable dog. With fleas. One eye. Half a tail. 3 legs. And warts.

*nothing against dogs, I love dogs actually. Smiley

simsrocks (and anyone else) you can donate to MTS at any time, not just during a donation drive. Smiley
43  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR charging for bucketfill on: 2009 September 10, 01:26:33
Who the hell are you Act? I don't get what you're trying to do here, really. First you intimate that MTS doesn't really check the stuff that get's uploaded, then you say that the content at MTS is consistently good.

Ah, I know. They turned you down, didn't they? It happens. They're actually pretty strict- and that's from someone who has stuff available there. So, grow up. You're in the wrong place to whine/cry/battle/bitch/whatever about MTS or any other free site.
44  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Sirona Sims Adds Pay Section? on: 2009 September 05, 05:42:17
The only thing she realized is that nobody was willing to pay for content that had been previously free. She knew bloody well what she was doing when she went pay. It wasn't an accident. She knew what she was doing. Whatever. That quote (the link is no good already?) is full of funny.
45  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Sirona Sims Adds Pay Section? on: 2009 August 31, 01:48:29
I have a feeling she read too many negative posts, emails and comments about going pay and changed her mind about it. Even though she hasn't said a word about it anywhere, that doesn't mean she didn't read what's being said.
Personally, I could care less what her reasons were for going pay. No reason is good enough. If you need a bit of help paying your costs, add a donation button and explain why you did it. Don't just flip from free to pay without saying a damned thing.
THAT'S what gets my goat. No explanation whatsoever. Yes, an explanation was owed. She's been around long enough to know better than that. Any explanation given now would be pointless. Nobody will want to hear it.

It's a good thing that she went back to being free. It's a better thing that none of my money ended up in her pocket.
