The one thing I have a problem understanding about EA's plans to lockdown new meshes, which is exactly what it sounds like they're doing because they're money grubbing bastards, is how do they plan to keep anyone interested past the initial game release?

Even with an expansion every 2 months or whatever, people (most who have the attention span of ants) are already used to googling their way to whatever toys they want for their games - for free. Any change in the EULA isn't going to affect those of us that have been sharing files for years, but it will definitely affect the kiddies that are used to a stocked booty and free fansites everywhere. Yea, EATSR may make a bundle of cash initially, but a couple buggy item expansions later I foresee problems.

 Undecided

Hijacking post:

Crunk - I'm excited to get to the point where I don't feel like kicking a puppy every time someone pisses me off Smiley. I'm very very out of character. But the more I hear that it gets better eventually, the more hope I have in my ability to stay off the smokes. This is the beginning of my 3rd day and I will admit, be it somewhat grudgingly, that it is getting better. Somewhat. Thanks for your words Smiley

Giving post back.

I agree with you Devilfish. As much as I hate the DRM, and I haaaate the DRM, I'm honestly more angry about EA milking the kiddies out of as much money as possible. At the risk of sounding like an immature jerk, I'll admit that at 12 I would've been begging my parents for their credit card every time the store updated their crappy stuff and crying myself to sleep because all my friends could afford a fancy new (recycled) expansion pack while I was stuck without. It's the same issue I have with paysites. I was 12 once (upon a time Wink) and I remember what it was like when my only priority was keeping up with my friends. EA, TSR, it's all the same type of thing to me. Greedy people that want money from the most uninformed faction of society. Dirty.

Besides, I'm still fuming that I lost an hour of my life searching for the fixed versions of store stuff and when I finally got it into my game, it was heinous. When EA can give me back my hour of life and promise me that I won't be subjected their fugliness at every possible opportunity, then I will consider arring the Sims 3. Otherwise, EATSR can find their way to the fast train to hell without my help.

** Disclaimer: I quit smoking 2 days ago and am still a little edgy. So if this post seems disjointed, sorry **

I'm of the mind that Atwat is helping Thomass cook up the books. Tax evasion and such. And has been for quite awhile. They might be having hot monkey sex *gagshuddergag* too, but the weird obsessive loyalty that Thomass shows to her hints at something much more nefarious. Either she's got financial dirt on him or helped him dispose of a body. No threats of leaking a filthy sex tape would be worth the pain of constant Atwart (typo that I'm leaving) presence.

Although I could be taking for granted the fact that I live in a no fault divorce state. Either member of a marriage can cheat up a storm, publically and proudly, and it will never be admitted into court during divorce proceedings. Affairs have no impact on child custody or alimony.  Undecided

Just to clarify my statement, I don't think Itunes prices are crappy either. And their copy protection is as easily circumventable (I don't know if that's a word or not, sorry if it offends delicate grammer lovers  Smiley) as a nocrack. What I meant by that is that I think EA's trying to follow the same type of business model and that will not work in the Sims world. Adults/pirates won't pay for it and I doubt the kiddie's parents would go for it more than once. Especially not after they've already spent money to buy the game already.

I agree with every last thing Kenmtl said. EA's going to end up with pie on their face once they realize that noone is up to paying itunes prices for their crappy partnered with TSR borked CC, especially after people already had to pay for their crappy guarantee to be borked game. We've gotten the good stuff for free all these years, they must be on some hardcore drugs to think anyone is going to start paying for it. They'll be lucky to even sell their game in this economy.

EA broke my computer with their devil spyware, lied to me about being all free sharing lovey in their EULA and confused me by sending me to Pes for fixes on their offical BBS a few months ago, then deciding his site cannot be linked to. But this vile treatment of free creators is too much for me. It's disgusting. TfuckingSR? Man. And I'm so mad because I knew this was coming, I just kept hoping in my secret Santa exsists place that it wasn't true.

I decided that I wasn't buying Sims 3 awhile ago, but EA just managed to convince me that Sims 3 will be my first Arr'd game. Then I'm burning it onto a disc & running it over with my car. Twice.   Angry

Bleh. He can have the biggest overcompensating server in the world. He's nothing without the staff and creators. Just another Walt move to point and laugh at.

Pirate Alex - I agree with you about the Sims 3. My point is that no self respecting creator is going to work with Walt at this point. For him to corner the Sims 3 market (which is what I actually think his mastard plan is), he'll have to find himself some decent creators before anyone - sheeple or not - will donate a bloody thing to him. That takes time.

If Walt actually spent the monies on a new server, backed up everything and thinks he's pulling a fast one on everyone, all the more funny in my eyes.

Walt has been slammed throughout the community. Even with a backup, the staff & people that made the site great already got burned, they're not going back. With the Sims 3 right around the corner, Walt's going to have to start all over regardless of what he backed up. Except now he gets to start over with an awful reputation, no staff & a significant lack of creators.

Let's just keep with the "stay off the site until the king is finished" philosophy. No confusion for the 12s. If the staff could possibly come together amongst themselves & figure out one person to keep watch for, say, a minute at a time every 2 hours & then give status updates as needed, we're gold.

Oh & I'm just a lurker with strong feelings on this subject, so feel free to cut me apart. No disrespect intended to anyone.

**I would be secretly excited to be yelled at by the pirates for being a dipshit though though.

tied naked to steel scaffolding and beaten with cement-filled milk jugs? Hum. I think I've just found my new home away from adult Insim.  Smiley

I appreciate the kind words. I'm a longtime lurker & this TSR info sharing situation is one that I'm following very closely.

start rant/
I can't tell you how many jerk collection people insinuated that I was the one that opened the cell phone/gas/ect. in my daughters name. At least 2 agencies wouldn't accept the police reports (I filed one per incident, as did 3 of the other parents who are in the same position as we are) & called me a liar directly. My daughter can't even think about getting a job yet because we'll end up in court every week fighting to keep her check from being garnished. I can't even put into words what a living nightmare it's been on my entire family.

Parents who willingly do that to their own children should be put in jail for a very long time. The US has set up a system that allows those with good credit ratings to be eligable to buy just about anything (even if they can't afford it) and those with bad credit ratings might as well give up any hopes for 7-10 years. To knowingly set up your own children to fail economically is an unforgivable sin in my eyes.
/end rant

Thanks for reading Smiley

I'm unlurking to share my identity theft story. Our local high school had its student db hacked a couple years ago & someone stole all my daughter's personal information. This person used her name to open utilities (gas, water, heat, ect. in 5 different cities), cell phone accounts (4), credit cards(10), bank accounts (which had $5000 + in post dated checks) ect. Since she was a minor, no one was monitoring her credit report & she definitely wasn't opening credit cards, so there was no clue this was going on. It all blew up when she tried to get a college loan.

I will say that Visa/Mastercard/Discover have been very helpful in clearing up the accounts opened in her name. It's the collection agencies for all the utilities/bank accounts that have made life hell. I've been fighting with them for almost 8 months with no resolution and my daughter's credit rating is about as bad as it can get. The people that did the hacking didn't just run up credit card debts, they really did take on the identities of the people whose personal information they were able to steal. It's been a living nightmare for my daughter.

So on that note, I hope TSR goes straight down for sharing personal information. It's a very selfish, very childish, very dangerous way to get "revenge".
