There's some nice pay hair out there, but it seems like all of the major pay creators' hairs have some sort of issue (animation, textures, gaps, insane poly counts, etc). The major free creators don't seem to have those issues (though Helga's hairs aren't animated). I think the sheer amount of variety is what makes sites like Peggy, Rose, and Raon so popular. If you've never seen hair apart from Maxis before, Peggy's site looks like a goldmine. You may not even mind the animation etc. because you're so happy to get something different (at least that's how I was). Peggy especially knows what she's doing. It's not like she makes a sparkly, blinky-covered site with hair inspired by Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton because she's trying to draw the over 40 crowd.  I personally use pay hair for pictures sometimes, but that's it. It never looks as good in-game, unless I have a particularly ugly townie I want to watch being impaled by its own hair. Back on topic, Peggy's latest free hair looks pretty ugly to me, but maybe it's just not my style. Then again, I like Nouk's double pony tails (which are kind of similar), so maybe it's because it's Peggy.  I took a look and thought that was a earlier creation, look at the Texture of the bottom of the bangs and ponytails. Looks worse then when Rose started to make hair. Compare that shit to this beautiful hair texture made by Agustin at MTS2  |

I've pretty much decided I'm not buying any EA shit anymore.  If they don't remove the ability to make CC on TS3 would you? I'm already saving up some money to buy TS3, if it's shit I swear I'm going to go to EA and demand my 20 bucks back. Though I have seen some of the previews for the game on Youtube, they claim you can customize the Sims clothes, hair, skin...etc. |

I actually think you're better off trying to learn Blender; for one thing, it's totally free, and imo, is a much better piece of software than Milkshape is (and one that is more comparable to higher end 3D modelling/animation applications as well). Plus, you might discover that you absolutely hate meshing/modelling and then you'll be out 30 bucks  . However, I'm with Calalily; learning to model and mesh isn't going to be easy no matter what you decide to use, so don't be under the impression that a different programme will automatically be easier to pick up. All 3D modelling programmes, from Milkshape all the way to Maya, have steep learning curves and can be very frustrating for someone who has limited experience, so you've really got to be prepared to deal with that and knuckle down until you figure it out. As for learning Blender, the tutorials on the website aren't the greatest. I'd recommend using The Blender wiki book to get yourself started. Thanks I guess xP I wanted to use Milkshape because MTS2 highly recommends it, they say you can make animated hair or meshes with Blender. So that's what I was concerned with. And seeing as I have Photoshop, is there a special texture I can use for the hair if I ever manage to make a mesh? And how would I make a Mesh compaitble with a Sim head? Blenders confusing me again D: |

Just tell your parents how much you NEED to do this. You don't have to subscribe for it, so I'm fine with my 35 dollar version. *shrugs*
I have yet to make something... :/
I tried to, they think it's a waste of money. I might get it for Christmas and all though, I think I'll stick with MTS2 until then. If you live in America, you can always ask your parents for a gift card that's a credit card-ish. I believe I bought milkshape with that... I think I used a vanilla mastercard... anywho google that. Oh yes! I forgot, I will most likely get 15 bucks from my Grandmother for my Birthday. And probably a Giftcard to Wal-Mart from my neighbor. Now I just have to see how much it costs at Wal-mart. |

I know this sounds n00bish, but can someone link me to a 3D mesh maker? I have no money and my parent's won't let me buy Milkshape. Blender is to complicated for me ><
You've really got no option. For no money, it's Blender or nothing. Oh, and meshing is pretty complex. I was thinking downloading a crack but all the ones I seem to find have a Trojan in them >-o I tried to figure out Blender when I had it.... The tutorial on the site didn't help at all. |
