1  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: New paysite: AnnaMariaSims on: 2008 April 10, 18:09:30
she contacted me yesterday with a proposal to become affiliates Cheesy I guess she haven't noticed the PMBD banner on my page  Grin Grin Grin
anyway I told her that we will talk when she will get rid of her stupid donation sets and if she has no money to pay for her site - she can contact wickednoukfamily.
she contacted my friend today with same proposal and she answered her exactly the same thing as I did.

I was a bit curious yesterday, as I never seen her site before, so I checked a bit her registration info :
Quote
Domain Name.......... annamariasims2.com
  Creation Date........ 2008-04-04
  Registration Date.... 2008-04-04
  Expiry Date.......... 2009-04-04

so, registered only a few days ago and already a paysite  Undecided ? my opinion is that if you have no money for hosting a website then why the hell are you opening it?
and she could at least make her own meshes, as making such clothes isn't hard.

EA haven't confirmed anything official. I know about all the letters, I even wrote them one myself.
So I'm not sure, that we can say  "EA confirmed", before they make say this official, not in private chats.

I've asked them if they are going to make an announcement against paysites.
That's what they replied :
Electronic Arts does plan to make an announcement regarding custom content and pay sites in the near future. Unfortunately, I can't say at what point that will be at this time as we are reviewing all aspects of custom content built outside of EA Tools. However, its say to say that any content created with Bodyshop or Homebuilder would fall under the EA Sims EULA.

It's like neither "yes" nor "no". I guess if everything was so simple - they were not thinking for so long.

Really   ? 'Cos I remember I read this thing somewhere (I believe it was NoukieSims), a letter were this guy from EA said that selling stuff made using EA tools is against US copyright law.

*search for it*

Here it is, Nouk posted it on her site.

"If you use a tool created by Electronic Arts and wish to charge money for the content created with that tool afterwards, then you are in violation of US Copyright Law. Several countries share and/or recognize US copyright law."

I thought the guy was pretty much saying that paysites are considered illegal by EA Games.

It would be quite embarassing for me if I got it wrong, 'cos since when I read that I've been going around saying paysites are illegal.
Erm.

Yes, I read this letter too. I guess they had a talk with some specialists in law after that. Because when I wrote them my letter they weren't so sure about on who's side they would be in their final announcement.
Actually there is one thing. You can't "create" stuff in bodyshop. You can only export and import files. Creating always does in other programs. So I think that's what they are thinking about for so long.
I hope they will announce that all the .package files are their own, and we cannot sell them.
But. I am telling you that we shouldn't be very happy now and yell everywhere that EA confirmed something. We can do that _only_ when EA officially announces that on their site. Not in fanmail.

Thanks, Alia.
Yeah, I guess that my poll won't be reliable at all, after this topic here
At least till someone opens the same topic in some hidden-paysite-owners-community

I didn't mean to skew your results.  I just wanted to make sure people knew about it and I've heard TSR reads us.  Maybe if you leave it open for awhile word will get to the other side?  What site would let the poll be advertised and attract both camps?

Oh, don't worry Cheesy There were enough anti-paysite votes before this topic, so I think you haven't screwed anything.
The poll will be opened for a long time. Even if there will be a new poll on the main page, the older ones are all still available for voting.

But pay sites ARE illegal, no matter what is your view on it. Free creators always said that, and now EA confirmed.

Great poll, Helena! Smiley

Although since you are a known PMBD symphatizer, I think the results might not be reliable. You're bound to have more pirate friendly visitors on your site than paysite supporters.

Now, wouldn't that be interesting if the same poll was on S2C or MTS2. They have much more visitors from all walks of (simming) life, and the poll would reflect the feelings of the simming community more accurately.

Thanks, Alia.

If you wish to comment, please don't use apostrophs ( ' <-- this sign ), because my site engine is so dumb, that it erases all messages with ' ://

well I am not sure how to put this in the booty.. Because the booty list is not actually a html page, it's just the content of everything, that is in the ftp directory.
There is a way though.
Look. If you open peggy's folder of booty and do "save page as", it will be saved to your pc as a html document. now we can open it in notepad or wordpad and replace this

Code:
<title>Index of /booty/peggy/</title>

to the one I mentioned above. Then rename the file into index.html and upload it to peggy directory. So when you go there - you will see this file, looking the same, as when we saved it. all the links should work and so on. except for the title, that would be different.
There is only one "but". You see there are the dates, when the subfolders were last updated. The dates would remain the same as when we created this page.
I'm not sure, that there are no other ways.
There is also a possibility to insert some words in the forum using <description> tag. But I don't remember which file should be edited for that... May be index.php, may be not ... This is even better, because you can insert all the paysites names in it and noone will be able to see it, only search engines.

btw, if you google "peggy booty" we are the first ones ^.^
9  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Peggy... on: 2007 April 11, 08:33:53
look. here's the code, that Peggy uses as title of her page.
Code:
<TITLE>PeggySims2-|Free Sims2 Download|Free Sims2 Objects Download|Free Sims2 Skins Download|Free Sims2 house Download |Free Sims2 Object Download|Free Sims2 skin Download|Free Sims2 clothes earring necklace accessory accessories Download|</TITLE>

that's why google puts her site to the top. if we put the same title - I'm sure, that we will be next to her very soon.

In russian search engine you can buy the first line in search results, so may be it works for google too... I mean it would be cool if we could buy the first line for peggy Smiley

btw, there is a way to include all search phrases into html code of the site, it will work much better, than writing it in every post.

13  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / LMAO off at Vita Sims "donation" celebrity heads.. on: 2007 April 06, 09:34:11
I think we disscussed that in some topic about sera and ugly pay sims celebrities.
Anyway I would be ashamed to ask money for such sims. I tried to make some celebrities myself, but they look much like Vita's, so I don't even upload them for free, because I don't want to frighten all my site visitors.

Yes, it is a step in the right direction. I don't feel bad for anyone who already paid for her stuff, that's a choice they made.

I sign under every word! That's exactly what I was thinking.
