Echo has one, super easy. The only option is to open and extract.  I don't know where it went now that Simlogical is down.  I uploaded to file factory, I think she would be ok with it?

That lovely toile pattern recolor is by sesame, she made it as a gift for Amaranth new site.  She does awesome work.  You can find MOAR of her at Sims2Artists.  Seriously that one is the tip of the iceberg with her.  But don't visit if your downloads folder is on a diet.  Wink  She also gives gifts and recolors at BPS.  Her latest SIP recolor has me seriously re-considering my no shabby chic rule.

Well hell, I am going to go to TSR and get paid too then.  And I will make MOAR money cause I can do an entire palette of solids.  Cheesy  Screw this meshing bullshit and finding the stinking footprint.  Solid color palette's are soo much easier.  And apparently profitable.

Yep the thumb for furniture is in the thumb png in the package. Smiley  Patterns seem to only use the icon png in the package when it is installed via the launcher and a sims3pack.  I took a pack made from the TSR tool and extracted and placed in my game.  It has the icon with the TSR thingy in the package, but doesn't show in game.  If I install that same sims3pack with the launcher, then the pattern icon from the package is used and I see the custom icon.

It seems the launcher is required to get that custom icon to show.  I may still be doing something wrong but I also deleted my thumbs after fiddling with a package, I am going to look at a few more there has got to be a way to make the game read the icon in the package.

Yep it is the TSR tool.  I downloaded a pattern from simplan-x and exported to a package using echo's package extractor, then looked at it in postal.  It does have the TSR icon.  Wonder if Delphy would consider adding this feature?  A png for an icon.

I think the only way is if the pattern itself has a small signature on it.  My second window I did just that, because I missed knowing if something was custom or not.  I realize right now people might be able to remember, but once the EPs start coming there's no way.   If patterns use a custom thumbnail like objects do, then the creator could add it.  I noticed a couple of patterns had a png in there, but I don't know the why or what for.

Although, somebody else is creating patterns in sims3packs.  I don't know who it is, maybe someone else remembers, but if you install those via the launcher do they add some sort of custom marker?

I added a picture for the tutorial. Smiley  Feel free to let me know if anything doesn't make sense or needs clarification.  Wouldn't it be cool if we could add categories?

Awesome!  Glad it works, and your welcome.

I will go put up a tutorial for it, because I do think alot of people will like to recategorize their patterns to suit them.  I will dig into the actual names used later so I at least appear to know what I'm talking about. Cheesy

lol  Sorry I don't mean to confuse.  I wasn't searching for *you* just who was looking how to change the category.

I just want to make sure I was clear though, when you open a pattern I meant the *one pattern* you want to change, not any type of global patterns package.  The ones I looked at only had a single xml category.

Holy fuck do things get off track, took me forever to find who was looking at how to change a pattern category and where it was posted.  Tongue

Dr House I think I found it for you.  I can't test for sure as patterns make my game crash.  I suspect crap video card.  Anyway.

Download Postal - See previous link
Open Pattern in Postal
Double click the xml - Pattern List
Look below at xml
See the line... <category name="Theme">
Change what is in quotes to what you want.

File / Save As

It should work.  I also would guess proper capitalization is required.  I don't know the exact names of all the categories, it will take a bit more digging.

Avast never warns me about TSR, nor do I have any infections when I scan.  Try adding in Adblock Plus.  I have three items that are auto blocked:

##[class^="skyscraper"]:not(body) - hidden
hxxp://ads.pubmatic.com/AdServer/js/showad.js - script
hxxp://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js - script

I have no idea what that first one is nor why it is considered a hidden item, but one of those three are probably where the virus is coming from.  While technically they are not from TSR, they are responsible for it since it is there site putting the ads on so indirectly they are responsible.
