I'm retexturing an old XM hair here using Nouk's textures, but I'm having problems with the blonds. 



These are the three I have so far.  The first two were supposed to be platinum and strawberry blond, but they look kind of yellow to me now.   Does the last one work as dark blond, or are the highlights too light?  Or is it closer to light brown than dark blond?

Would anyone even want three blonds (or four, since I don't even seem to have a regular blond yet)?  I've never made anything except for personal use before, and I tend to make loads of colors because I like to have non-standard ones as well (probably because my own hair color is one of those that never gets made ), but I'm not sure anyone else would care.

Carla's back?  I though he was gone for good!  I shouldn't be as happy as I am, but it's probably because everything he does makes me laugh.

Theria, I think it's darker because it is see through, and the torso it dark because the model's skin is dark--the bottom and top are lighter because the bottom is over the shorts, and the top is hopefully over a bra. 

See, Cardrew has finally learned that his models need bras.  He has improved!

Now he just has to work on creating clothes that aren't completely fugly.

Janna is still making CC?  I think I had that hair in like 2005 (back when new hair meshes were scarce, I downloaded pretty much anything ).  Even her new stuff looks like it's from 2005--seriously, who's paying for that?

I remember being annoyed by the Reflex stuff too.  Luckily, the free sets were enough to convince me not to pay for anything.

Sunair seems to be coming to realize that all of her sets look exactly the same, and has hence begun draping fabric over everything, whether it makes sense or not.  At least that one's a bed.  She's had a couple of sets with fabric draped over chairs and paintings and things.   I think the SunairBot is running out of steam.

Yeah, I haven't dowloaded Peggy hair in ages, but I downloaded that too.   Please forgive me.  I still haven't seen it in game, though, so I bet the animation is terrible.  It usually is.

I agree--it does look a lot like Rose.  Hmm.  I wonder how absurd the poly count is.

This isn't the worst I've seen, but I can't stand most of Liana's stuff.  The photoskinned wrinkles, that pixelated belt thing (actually, I'm not sure what it is), and the waistless mesh make it pretty bad overall.


As a bonus, the models are wearing that Peggy hair!

Those sims are so creepy.  Who likes those?  Seriously, who would actually put them in their game?  I think I would have a heart attack if I were on a community lot and one of those...things walked by.

Well, her skintone looks orange and gritty, more or less.  Why you'd want a skintone like that, I don't know, but there you go.

That Justin Timberlake sim is going to be in my nightmares tonight.   Damn you, Chaz.

What I want to know is who EA hires to make this stuff.  You'd think they'd hire people who are experienced/talented with 3D meshing and good with texturing, but a lot of the things they crank out look like they were made by someone who'd never meshed/textured/whatever before.  Their clothing textures have gotten a lot better, but a lot of the hair meshes and things look like the stuff made by fans in 2005.

They're probably a lot like TSR where they don't give the creators enough time to fill a quota, and the work turns out looking like crap because they don't have time to finish or test it.  But a lot of the stuff was ugly to begin with (like the furniture and a couple of the hair meshes) and should have had to pass through some kind of quality control before they, you know, decided that it was worth paying for.   Greed at its finest, I guess.

I know everyone's picking on Buntah, but I found this the other day, and I don't think it's been posted before.  A pay file from her site:

If that's not enough, there's also an entire skintone, but it's free.  At least with that one she admits that it looks like "chicken pox" or "measles."

A lot of the furniture looks floodfilled.  And ugly.  It looks like they were trying to be retro, but most of it is badly done and just, well...ugly.  

Why in the world did that woman go out and buy all of that?

I just downloaded a bunch of stuff from the site Tridently posted and all I have to say is ick.  I don't have all the EPs and have none of the SPs, so I'm not sure what came with what, but I'd feel pretty screwed over if I'd actually paid for this stuff, especially a lot of the hair.  This in particular has to be one of the worst hair meshes I've ever seen:

It's just so...stiff and clumpy looking or something, and it gives any sim you stick it on an elongated forehead (one of my biggest pet peeves).  Definitely DO NOT WANT.

I also love that they're selling these two separately, despite the fact that they're both exactly the same except that one has a crown and some bangs tacked on (and the bangs aren't even the same color as the rest of the hair ):


The rest are mixed, some icky and some fairly nice, but I don't think there's one I haven't seen done better for free.  Too bad so many people don't realize that.
