Considering the quality of their products, SecuROM and EA's general laissez-faire attitude concerning product support and consumer relations; I don't feel that assuming EA will do the wrong thing is overreacting.  Quite frankly, they deserve every bit of the bad-mouthing and bad word-of-mouth they're getting.

That being said, it is completely true that they've not announced any plans to charge for downloads.  But, they didn't announce they were changing over to SecuROM either.

Good news on the medical front is always...good!  Grin

Isn't that just an urban legend? I've heard the gerbil/hamster story many times, but never attached to Gere.  I just assumed people added the name of their least fave celeb (Paris, Gere, whoever) to the story and spread it around.  Wink

I always heard Gere attached to that legend originally.  Nowadays, the celebs and species change, but the basic premise that skanky celebs keep small animals in their bums for kicks remains the same.  Whee!

I know I wouldn't stand under Paris Hilton's ass.  Shocked

About insim, kathy can do what she likes on her own forum. I'll follow her rules there because I love some of the content there. I'll say what I like here though, not to hurt her feelings or give her stress.

Exactly.  I made my comment here rather than there as an observation, not necessarily for the express purpose of stirring shit.  I stand my my original observation, while simultaneously reserving the right to frequent Insm hassle free.  I don't want to add to anyone's stress.  I like Insim too, but it bothered me, so I said something about it here in a thread that was already discussing it.  However off topic that discussion may be at the moment. Grin

BUT, I think we've derailed this thread a lot. There's no comparison with the disgusting hypocrisy and pedo content of TSR and some policy issues at insim we don't agree with. If TSR was free and had the same pedo stuff, I personally would be just as disgusted. We do need to get the word out. Could we start a thread at MATY perhaps? Then we'd be free to link from any forum, even N99.

Yeppers, this is true too.  No offense, but Insim is small potatoes compared to some of these egregious examples of TSR violating their own PG-13 terms.  I don't spend a great deal of time at MATY, so my questions is this:  Even though it isn't the "evil pirate site," will anyone take heed of things posted there as Pescado owns that as well?

Pardon me for stirring shit, but I felt it was pretty presumptuous to ask for $500 dollars in donations after 5 month absence and almost no input or interest.  I'm not saying that RL doesn't reach out and kick your ass, but that little post Anna X linked to seems to indicate real life wasn't the only issue.

I'm on the same wavelength as most, myself.  I personally like the canvas texture, but the notepad does resemble the more realistic texture of roller painted walls.

Rats are lovely pets indeed.  And mine is April Fresh!

I just had to pull dental floss out of the dog's ass, but at least I'm not wearing Carla Niven.

At one point in time last year, there was a thread at InSim where the booty was mentioned quite openly and links were easy to find. That's how I found this place. Since then, attitudes really changed over there. It was no longer the fun, playful place to be. I'm good friends with Squinge and was part of the wench/dork tribe of posters which was torn apart when some young person kept baiting and pestering and someone blew up and gave him a set down. Well, he went to Kathy about it and things clamped down like a vise. You couldn't even say the words wench or dork any more. Then came a blow-up between Squinge and Kathy; he decided to strike a path to freedom. I've got lots of information that I can't share, about how things went on, but it ended up that I helped him write an email to get his mods taken down and a farewell post. I'm surprised that I didn't get my ass banned over there when I left my own farewell post and let that information out about my helping him.

I visit now and then, but it's not the same warm welcoming place that it once was. I never had a problem with BBB, we used to be good friends, but something changed. His outlook grew darker and he became morose from things that were going on in his life. I felt hurt when he went to TSR, but it was his decision to make. He made it and while his stuff with Marvine stays free, well you know.... InSim was a home for me for a time, the people were there for me when my dad died and my cat, and those happened only two days apart. Many of the people that once posted there have left for greener places and leave behind a bunch of teens who go kind of wild. Back when I was there, language control was strictly enforced but now it sounds like a high school when there are no teachers around to monitor the playground.

I had posts reported and deleted because I dared to question why Anna Maria Sims needed donation sets because they had just opened. That bothered me. It was a simple question and never answered. There were nights that I was on MSN yapping with BBB and while he knew that I was a pirate, we agreed to disagree and left it at that. And now this. I don't know what to think any more. I just miss the way he used to be, before being an FA, because back then he was a fun person that you could poke and goof around with on the forum. Once upon a time, I knew him as Yakov. Now, he has become only beosboxboy. The loss saddens me, but time and technology only seem to move forward, so I've left it where it belongs, in the embers of the past.

If BBB were to go back to the way he once was, I'd love it. But it's not going to happen. I'm afraid that I see InSim going into the cave of obscurity due to lack of what they are known for. Some of the members that were there back in my day now create for MIKEY!!! over at M&M Needful Things, the Mule being one of them. Funny thing, Neptune Floozy of T$R infamy has some stuff over there, too. While this may be old news to some, it made my jaw drop... She always came off so squeaky clean and here she is posting smut for sims. Wonder if Thomass knows about her double screen life? And considering the smut posted on T$R that's been revealed lately, why would she go to M&M? Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? Only the Shadow knows, and he's not fucking telling!

I'm with you word for word on that one, Paden.  I was one of those friendly, if mostly anonymous, posters on Insim and the adult site, that shared a post or two with you when your cat and father passed, among other things.  I was actually rightly pleased to see you here, and see that you had gotten your feistiness back.

I too remember the halcyon days when Insim was a friendly place, although I always have felt more at home on the adult site.  Not for the content, but the atmosphere.  I'm still rather active there, but it's not the same.  Several members and admins gone, a general air of dissatisfaction and a new bunch of peeps who think they own the place.  BTW, you have a happy birthday thread mouldering over at the adult site, Paden. Grin

BBB's health problems have robbed him of whatever little spark he used to possess.  I don't know him well, but like Paden, I've noticed that even his rantings seem to have lost focus.  I just hope there is an upswing  soon, because the mood is getting rather dark.

Will somebody clear something up for me? I always thought that InSim and InSimAdult were PMBD friendly. I was lurking around the other day (trying out my account) when came upon a thread were someone was asking for some payshit (I think it was some sexysims animations). Someone harmlessly linked to the booty, and someone else freaked out and asked them to remove the link. So, are we against their policy? What is going on that I'm missing?

BTW: I just got done writing a long-ass paper, so if my wording/spelling is off, be gentle.

I don't think the owners ever had a problem with PMDB, as Kathy and many other Insim members post/ed here quite frequently.  I think they discourage booty talk to avoid complaints and attacks from paysite owners.  They didn't allow linkage to here even before BBB became an FA.  Someone with more insight than I please fill in the blanks. Tongue

Seeing all these massively inappropriate clothes for children puts me in mind of my shopping trips through the children's section.  The way fashions for children are tending toward the "sexy" (I get squicky (thanks calalily) just typing that, but it's true), I keep wondering when they're going to introduce thong underpants for children.  You'll never convince me that someone hasn't already suggested it and been shot down.
Actually, in the US Abercrombie and Fitch already came out with thongs for kids - and they had to pull them from the shelves. Is your faith in humanity gone now? Cuz I think this was the final blow back in 2002 when I heard about it.  Tongue...

Sadly, I am not surprised, nor do I have any faith in humanity left to lose.  Apallling.

By a phorum fave, OpenhouseJack.  Now, I personally don't have a problem with homo-erotic imagery, but it is generally considered a mature theme.

I saw that they're touring again - sadly, nowhere near me. Some day.... some day....

I think that at least one of them, if not I, will be dead before I get to see them live.

It's for people who HAVE donated already.

I can see both sides of it, but it really is heading down that slippery slope.  I too, am averse to the "advertising", although she would probably say it's so people like rome_raven can let her know they didn't get it.

I get the impression that it's meant as a genuine thank you, but it does fall under the heading of donation gift, so...
