376  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / You know the funny thing... on: 2006 November 14, 02:16:38
To be honest, I wouldn't mind milking the cash cow a little myself, but I would feel like I'd be giving a big slap in the face to the community, which has provided me with so many GB of gorgeous (and free) CC my game cries out in pain.

And I have no problem with pay sites taking donations, even if those donations exceed their cost and they just keep it as profit.  It's the slap in the face I don't appreciate, along with the issues of the creations only being theirs as far as altering it from EA's work goes.  If that makes sense.  I'm falling asleep here.

EDIT:

Sorry, I didn't mean to interject myself right in the middle of your debate.  I'm just bored.  Feel free to ignore me.

Ignore you? With *that* avatar?

*staring fixedly wondering when he will get a facefull.

Well ignore the text and just have fun with your facial then.  Try not to get any in your eye--it burns.

Wal Mart isn't pure capitalism; their low prices are supplimented by too many subsidies.

EDIT:  I don't know why I even bothered to mention that.  Continue ignoring me kplzthx.

Oh my / MistressofMerlin

What outrageous you must have been when you came across this / and you even wrote a email.....   / wow / that must have been an effort with you .

Okay, stop it. Just stop it. The slash is not a form of punctuation you can just slap down wherever the hell you please. What you want is a COMMA. It is this little thing:

,

There. See that? That's what you use to denote a brief pause in a sentence. The slash is only used in very particular situations, and considering your obviously poor grasp of English, I suggest you forget it even exists.

COMMAS. Know them, use them, love them, you illiterate git.

I am saving this post for future use.

I like this thread.  It didn't get all evil like all the other ones do.

1.  Part of the American dream.  If you make something that others want and are willing to pay for, shouldn't you make money?  Obviously they aren't charging more than the market will bear, or people wouldn't be paying the rates.

They can, and are.  But because the items they're making aren't really theirs, they're also up for grabs.  Kind of.  I'm sure you've already realized how fuzzy this part gets.

2.  Depends.  Should a creator be able to say how and where their creations are posted, and under what terms?  We can probably argue about that one until the cows come home.

They have.  EA [read: the creators of the stuff these people are basing their work on] says we can share their items up the wazoo.  The CC creators can alter the product to make it look however they choose, but the product is EA's.

3.  Not only wrong, but actually got me pretty torqued, and I plan on sending a note to PayPal detailing just how unhappy I am about it.

I'd pay to see all the complaints PayPal is getting over this.  So many people have said they're going to complain.

Oh BLESS!! Lizard just can't stay away!! That's so sweet. I feel loved. I feel touched. Touched in a wrong place, too. Aww.

And the way the Lizard tried to create a WHOLE NEW identity for themselves, too, so it wouldn't take credit for all the love. That's beautiful, man, that's beautiful...

Brings a tear to my eye.  *sniff*

I'm assuming English isn't their first language.  As such they've never heard a "yo momma" joke.
