166  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / And here she goes again... on: 2006 November 21, 08:17:05
HCHANGERI I order you to jump.

(Has she jumped yet?)

Maybe Pescado should tell her to jump.
167  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Game, 'Translate the EULA' on: 2006 November 20, 12:52:00
Taken from EA's EULA.

Quote
At EA's request, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless EA from all liabilities, claims and expenses, including attorneys' fees, arising from any breach of this License by you and/or your use or misuse of the Tools & Materials.

Translation

Do not come running to us (EA) when you fuck up and break the terms of this agreement.  we want no part of your stupidity.

Well aren't they brave/stupid (choose most applicable).

Using the word 'purchase' for Sims content.

Ooh, naughty.
170  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Carla Niven must be destroyed! on: 2006 November 20, 09:00:49
Slightly late jump into this discussion.

Good on Carla Niven.

Giving a preview of the shitty animations before I don't part with my hard earned money.
171  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Rose Sims on: 2006 November 19, 11:15:53
I was a little bored, so decided to google Sims 2 sites.

This made me LMFAO when I got to RoseSims.

Highlighted emphasis by me.
172  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: OFFICIAL THANK YOU THREAD on: 2006 November 19, 00:31:37
Cheers everyone.

I agree 100% with the cause of this site, yet I have not one download in my game.
173  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Interesting post on Sim2.com on: 2006 November 18, 23:59:39
If EA decided to enforce their EULA, and go after the paysites, they would only need to make an example of one.

They wouldn't need to challenge them all, the rest would dive for cover.

Either that, or re-word the EULA.  And  I presume that would be a mighty headache, with all the copies already installed on peoples machines.  I admit I am ignorant where EULA changing goes.
174  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Businesses in Britain charge VAT on: 2006 November 18, 23:50:31
At the very bottom of this very sludgy barrel, is the fact of EA's EULA.

'Non commercial' etc etc.

VAT should not even be entering the equation.

Take Sims away from TSR, = no business.

For my subscription I would receive.

Access to certain Sim related downloads that non-subscribers don't have.

Use of the download and install wizard and download basket.  (Sim related again).

Advert free browsing of the site.

Unlimited bandwidth.

*These are from memory, so I may have missed something.

Out of curiousity is that VAT the same for all your paypal purchases or is this a cost that TSR is adding themselves?

I wouldn't know, I don't usually go through PayPal.

The incidence in this matter is through debit card.
177  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Businesses in Britain charge VAT on: 2006 November 18, 15:32:11
Just out of curiosity, I went through some of the subscription process for one of the paysites.

Bearing in mind, all I am contributing to is upkeep of the site.

I got to this page.

Notice the VAT charge (I am British so have to pay VAT to businesses)

I looked up the VAT rates on the official Customs and Excise site.

Official Site

Does anyone notice any discrepancies between the official VAT rates, and the VAT rate the site is using?
178  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / just random thoughts on: 2006 November 18, 13:29:10
This is where the Roman numeral system comes in handy. Cheesy
179  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / How much does bandwith cost and how much could they be using on: 2006 November 18, 09:36:27
<--------- wonders how many people have had refunds for bandwidth they
               havn't used while subscribing/donating.

"here you are, I noticed you havn't downloaded in over 3 months and you paid for 6 months, have half your sub back"

Yeah right.
180  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / On a more serious note. Paypal concerns. on: 2006 November 17, 17:23:41
BlueSoup, thanks for the advice, will pass that on.

As far as me saying alleged, I feel obliged to, as I havn't actually seen this proof for myself (not that I wish you to parade your evidence for all and sundry to see), I have to cover my bases.  As far as I am concerned at the moment, although well corroborated by others, I have no specific proof to channel back to.

It would be great if I could link back to all the evidence, an outsider may have a lot of clout in this matter.
