The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: NEW TSR LEGAL THREAT!

Guys, have you seen the new TS3 EULA, (I don't know if it's been discussed here) Even though the commercial clause is gone, it's fileshare friendly.. 4. In exchange for the right to use content contributed by other users through the Software, when you contribute content through the Software, you expressly grant to other users of the Software the non‐exclusive, perpetual, transferable, worldwide, irrevocable right to access and use, copy, modify, display, perform, and create and distribute derivative works from, your contributed content in connection with the Software, and to distribute and otherwise communicate your contributed content as a component of works that they create using the Software, for example, The Sims lots or The Sims videos, without further notice, attribution or compensation to you. You hereby waive any moral rights of paternity, publication, reputation, or attribution under applicable law with respect to EA’s and other players’ use and enjoyment of such content contributions in connection with the Software. So I personally don't think TSR is going to have a leg to stand on in connection with TS3 either.. This is the original link to the most current version of the file in case anyone wants to check it out. http://na.llnet.eadownloads.ea.com/u/f/manuals/eula/en_US/sims3_physical+digital.pdf

I think "doing things you can live with" is a good way to look at it.. It can be things big and small. In Inge's case she will make a HUGE difference by helping the Simmers who are around for Sims 3 by finding ways to mod it. The biggest way is getting information out there.. and I think Pescado said it well, the net sees Censorship (even company driven censorship) as damage, and finds a way to route around it. You guys are doing an outstanding job of ensuring this issue won't be forgotten.

I think a lot of people just don't want to have to decide. I think a lot of this has to do with Sims 3 coming out soon. I commented on the BBS (before I was banned) that like it or not, if you buy Sims 3, you are sending a message that you don't mind that EA approves of TSR, and in your own way, you're helping to support their continued attitude of "We want to OWN all Sims 2 content!"
People don't want to feel that getting Sims 3 is bad, not if they've been waiting for it. They want to get it and play it, and feel good about it. So, they're telling themselves that the Pirates are the bad ones, TSR is the good ones. Now they can get Sims 3 and feel all is right with the world.
This all happening just before Sims 3 coming out, is both a blessing and a curse. Most of us don't seem to care much about Sims 3. But a lot of folks do, sadly enough.
You guys have also got to realise that there's another factor that comes into play.. Things are very tough out there. I've got a semi-serious illness and my weeks are knocking the hell out of me. So sometimes when things are piling on top of you that badly, you need all the releif you can get to just get through your week. There's a million people out there like me that might get Sims 3 (I'm now thinking about it after the announcement about Securom) but we may not like TSR.. We may not say anything on the BBS but if we read enough stuff we get clear that we don't want to visit there or ever engage with the place. And if we open our mouths, we'll still tell the truth about TSR to others because Coconut educates us. It's a world of shades of grey rather than black and white.

*chuckling* Ah Pescado, thank you for making me laugh.. I think that's a fly on the wall I'd love to be on. I remember reading something about the mongrel who hacked us, he got interviewed by some journalist and he's going on about some crap of being a social engineer.. I'm reading this right as we'd gotten hacked and I am turning the air blue at that point..

After that garbage that Prism went through a few months back, Trey has my sympathy with the Sporum. No matter how big or small, no site deserves to be hacked.. On the subject of Thomas, words fail me. I'm not even sure what he thought he would gain *confused*

I am not an F, so I don't feel anything. Besides, I'm not sure how it's AGAINST anything. You are summoned to my office, debriefed and given new orders, and then you are dismissed. That is pretty standard. We are people with a mission here.
Yep, but most other people do feel stuff which is why chats usually take a while. Which is why if you don't have the time it can take more energy than it's worth at times. And it's hard to give orders when you're not paying anyone and the whole thing is voluntary. People are likely to just laugh unless they feel like doing what you need them to do.

Pescado, it's just the way it is.. chat involves catch up and other discussion not involved with the task. It's jsut the done thing. Pescado either may enjoy whittling away the hours in banter.. either that or he might be a get in and get it done person.. It's bad social ettiquette though. You need to have at least a little social banter with someone otherwise they're going to feel slightly used. I do enjoy MSN/Yahoo chats a couple of times a week, I just need to build up my energy and do other things in the middle.

I'm betting that the only reason why the name was changed was because of the owner of CC4Sims complained about Atwa wanting to take her name and create a similar website (didn't the owner of CC4Sims buy the domain name C4Sims just to be sure?)
I've been on forums with Christine.. she's one of Mel's semi regulars on her forums, and she would NOT be happy about this. Especially when it's someone with a bad rep like Atwa.

sigh... every time I think they can't sink any lower, they prove me wrong. And if they want to sue someone for telling someone where something is, they could start with the massive financial paper in the US who openly mentioned "The Pirate Bay" in their paper.. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't something being in Malaysia mean it has to be served in person?

Pescado, you've never said a truer word.. The same thing happened with the Sims community. We used to tear strips off people for using NoCD patches and tell them to go buy their game and use their disk.. If someone gave someone the "it's your own fault you can't build" lecture these days, they'd be laughed out of the room in most places.
