I also like EA/Maxis items. There`s just not enough recolors of their objects, so it's quite limited. That's why I adore HolySimoly, their texture are awesome. I don't really like ReflexSims, PeggySims or VitaSims for the objects: their meshes have potential (some aren't though), their textures look bad imo.

I totally agree! My main beef with Maxis things is not that they don't look good (because I personally think they look great), but that I would like more recolors and furniture in the matching sets.  They have gotten better at this.  There are a lot of nice recolors for the furniture from OFB on.  And would it kill them to make a couple of more curtains? LOL! Yup I also agree that Holy Simoly's furniture is just as great looking as Maxis furniture.  I think I have all of their furniture sets in my game.  The Arizona set and the Basico dining room set are must haves for me.

The thing is a lot of sites' items look great on the site...such as VitaSims.  Yet once I download it and get it into the game the textures are just ugh! That is one of the many reasons I don't feel bad at all about getting this stuff for free.  I got all of the VitaSim sets that I wanted for free and then promptly took them all out of my game because they just didn't look good to me.  I'm so glad I didn't waste my money paying for them.

Is he the sim with elf ears on the first page of NoukieSims? If that is him I admit he is pretty cute, though I wouldn't send someone an annoying PM filled with, "I must have him!" LOL!

That is my biggest complaint about a lot of CC.  Most of the CC I have come across does NOT look as good in game as the Maxis stuff.  I hate the pasted on look and wonky textures that so many of these clothes and objects have.  I recently did a major overhaul of my downloads folder and got rid of everything that didn't look great and serve some function in the game (I mean honestly how many deco items that are supposed to be things like toasters or soccer balls does one need clogging up the sculpture catalogue?).  And guess what, there is very little left.

It probably doesn't help that I don't like the sparse, monochrome, modern looking furniture that seems to be a favorite among CC creators.  I don't have that kind of stuff in my real home and I don't like it for my sim's homes either.  I like nice traditonal furniture like LovingTouchDesigns has.  And I would never pay for clothes since there are SCADS of them for free (I adore your site liegenschonheit.  Yup, I like gothy clothes and make-up for my sims and traditional homes in my game...it makes for quite the combo!).  So in a nutshell I agree that the vast quanity of CC is not worth paying for (I don't think we should have to pay for any of it, it's just that most of it is crap on top of that fact)...just my opinion of course.  Wink

34  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Retail Sims on: 2006 November 07, 14:22:13
I can't believe that someone (the owner of RetailSims) is making such a big fuss over a game! Yes a game! As much as I enjoy the Sims2 I'm sorry, but the world would hardly end tomorrow if every creator took down their sim creations.  Either people would continue to play the game with what they have, or they would decide that they do not like to play without new mods and then wouldn't.  Anyone who expects me to start sobbing and begging for their creations to be reuploaded is going to wait a long time.

Plus I use to have RetailSims objects in my game earlier this year when I first discovered custom content and downloaded everything I saw.  Basically they just clogged up my Buy catalogue and never got used.  The reason is because while her store sets may be in useful for someone making a movie or shooting pictures for a story, they serve no actual purpose in the game.  The vast majority of her objects are just deco items and long ago I got rid of everything that doesn't look great and serve some sort of function in my game.  Otherwise my game takes forever to load and has a clogged up catalogue for no purpose since I never use these things.

And that whole rant about how everyone that donated and downloaded her sets is of average and below average intelligence?! Yeah, not only is calling your loyal customers stupid not really going to go over well, she just basically said that only average and stupid people want to download her crap! LOL!
