16  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Carla Niven must be destroyed! on: 2006 December 23, 21:54:46
I'm kind of developing a weird and maladvised...um some sort of posivite feeling for this Carla/Andrew person.  The site and clothes are horrid, but for him/her/it to come in here and read this thread and not totally have a freak-out drama fest over what everyone has said is kinda cool.  I can't imagine the the owner of Retailsims having such a cool head about such hatred.  I'm still not downloading the clothes though.

Thank you everyobody!! Cheesy I too adore the black hair, blue eyed look...I have to restrain myself or I'd give most all of my sims that combination.  The site isn't mine though, anyone who is a member there can share things that they made for the game.

I don't mind linking to meshes and things, I am just really frustrated by this one creator that says not to put their work anywhere even if you give credits and links.  I have this awesome sim that I so want to upload, but he has a lot of content from that one creator that says no uploading of their content on your sim.  Sad

OMG!!!!11

I'm sorry, but I just have to gloat and squee for a moment!! My sim I made (the only thing I have ever made so far) is on the second page of Bines Sims Revue! Ok, so I am little silly to be so excited about it, but I can't help it! I'm not use to being featured on a page that has featured people like Nouk and Liegenschonheit (right now I am ignoring the fact that Carla Niven gets featured on it too Tongue ).  It is the sim under GaySimsClub2 if anyone wants to check him out! Cheesy

Well I understand the fact that everyone here hates her and so will pick on any and everything about her.  In fact I have a feeling that her odious personality and the fact that she has wronged a lot of people here are a lot of the reason that everyone thinks she is so ugly even though she is just a normal looking person.  And I didn't say not to insult her looks, it's just that when you say things like she's so fat and ugly how could anyone think she is good-looking you are really insulting a lot of people, because let's face it, most people are not gorgeous and do not have awesome bodies.

Why I don't like people insulting her looks is when you talk Lyric being ugly or fat with such meaness then it insults everyone that looks like her or worse.  I'm sorry, but Lyric isn't that ugly.  She is just a normal looking person.  I think the media has really warped everyone's perception of what is ugly.  When we stick to talking about the fact that Lyric is an over-reactive drama queen that likes attention from adoring internet fans then we don't insult every woman here that may have a plain face and weigh over 130.

HeeHee! I'm sure we are thinking of the same person since I know for a fact that we have the same taste in sims and CC.  That's all I'm going to say about that...except that this is the first time I feel a little weird about being incognito.

I would upload the sim anyway, but the site owner at GSC2 specifically asked me not too if I didn't have permission and I respect him enough not to.

Now that I think of it: Don't use my hair in porn movies or on fat sims!

  I've broken that rule many a time Nouk, since one of your hairs looks just like mine in real life...it ALWAYS goes on my fat self-sim! And since the game is about my fantasies it also gets used in what amounts to porn with monsters.

I wanted to upload a sim on GaySimsClub2 which had a lot of custom content in it.  I wanted to be totally fair about it and give credit and respect to all of the creators with names and links to their sites and everything.  Well I came across one creator whose things I had on my sim that said that none of his/her things could be posted on any other site besides MTS2, not even if you gave credit and linked back.  He/She actually specifically said not to link back from another site.  I PMed him/her and asked if I could please use his/her things with credit in a sim I uploaded, but they never responded back.

So basically it drives me crazy, because I thought communities like these were all about sharing.  I understand giving credit where credit is due, but I don't understand this do not upload my CC with your sim under any circumstances.  What is up with that?

OK, I had never really heard of Kingdom Hearts before this thread (although I have seen it mentioned here and there on the net), so I have no idea what it is or anything.  I decided to look at the official site to get some idea of what is was and WTF??!! It looks like a game that my nine year old daughter would love to play.  I don't really get what the game is about, is it something about traveling through all of the Disney worlds or something? Anyway I just want to again say WTF to the fact that people write slash about it. I REALLY don't get it, but um...OK.

You know I think that the poster that said that too many people's identities are wrapped up in their creations is on to something.  Whether it is a game creation, or a drawing, or a story I think people do feel that that is a piece of them out there on the net for all to see and when someone says something critical about it, they feel attacked.  I'm not saying that they should, a wise artist is always willing to listen to others' input, but I definitely see the desire to feel a piece of art is a piece of the artist.  Since I am in a way an artist too (a crappy one at least Wink ), I won't say anything if I don't like the creation.

That being said though there is a big difference between saying that the writer misspelled a word, but you liked the story and saying my god what shit is that, don't quit your day job! LOL! One is helpful to the artist and the other is just mean.  And it is silly for the artist to get mad because someone pointed out a spelling error or grammatical mistake, they should see it as helpful.   It's always good to learn how to make your art better!

That is the direct link to my story.  Just replace the xx with tt.  It does start off kind of shaky, but I think it turns out pretty decent.  And if nothing else do know that I did use correct english and not netspeak to wite it! LOL!

HeeHee! My one sim story was about a vampire since I love them too! LOL! It's called Obsession if you ever want to check it out, although the best version of it is on GaySimsClub2.

It's childish but it's not. There's plenty of crap out there, be it objects, clothing, hair, stories (and even fanfiction), and plenty of sheep who all scream like dying things in order that they might express their worship of the author and their boundless creativity, blah blah blah.

From what I can see, the twits frequently get ten times the praise from the sheeple herd, not because they're good, but because the herd is reading/viewing at their own level.

I've been reading a lot of legacy stories lately. Most of them seem to be written by people with a sub-par IQ and absolutely no command of the English language, but boy do they get praise!

(Then again, even some of those show up as reviewers for my own stories. I'm really not sure what to think.)

I totally agree with this.  There are a lot of stories in the sim community that just aren't that good, yet get acclaim, praise, and recognition all the time.  So you say you write some sim stories with a good plot and correct grammer? Where do I sign up to read these? Wink I have read a few good stories before on the sim sites, but most are just ugh.

So YOU were the one that rated my story a "1"! Tongue

You know I think it should be more about quality instead of quanity.  If people stopped begging for nice comments and thanks, at least they would then know that most of the ones they got were sincere and not because someone felt compelled to push a button to keep them creating.  I will admit to pushing the thanks button just because someone asked me to in their post.  I do try to be nice, but the posts that I actually write are the real deal.  I won't gush over something if I think it is crap.  (I don't say its crap either, I just kind of leave the thread.)

I can see both sides of this issue.  I remember when I wrote a sim story and posted it a few places (sims2community included) I did whine a little because I thought my story was a lot better than most of the stories there and those other stories were getting way more readers and worshipful praise than mine was.  Looking back on the experience though I realize that I was being childish.  People should give praise and thanks when they feel appreciative of the creation and not be forced into it with demands and whining.

I guess that is the part about demanding credit and thanks that bothers me.  My opinion it that credit should be given, but not demanded.  I have no problem with people putting a small reminder for credit on their creations; I just don't like the huge, bold letter, all caps, takes up half a page disclaimer that some of these creators put on their creations.  It just really turns me off for some reason.  I will say thanks and also write a nice post if some is just really spectacular and I love it so much that I can't keep it inside.  Then I fairly gush praise and probably scare the creator a little, but at least they know I am sincere! LOL!
