I've played Final Fantasy since the beginning, and I really dislike FF12. Not as much as I disliked FF9, because the gameplay isn't as bad (though it's not good either), but I don't give a chocobo's fart about any of the characters, including the one hot guy. The music is kinda bleh too. There's just no heart. I can't finish it. I loved Dragon Quest 8 though, that's from an Enix series, and I'm pretty sure that was after the merger. Plus they're re-releasing almost all the old DQs I never got to play, so I'm happy with that.

In any case I have my Atlus games now. *huggles Personas*

I must be more tired than I thought, I actually almost like the male hair >.>  I plead exhaustion though, or a momentary lapse of reason.

I read that as "I plead extension".

Those lips, her open mouth, her hair, her expression... that's not the kind of lipgloss you buy in stores. That's the kind of lipgloss you can even get paid for getting.

"Thanks for being honest about your initial misrepresentation of something you're illegally and unethically selling in the first place"?

Thank you for mentioning that it's backed by a Streisand song, now I know to mute it before watching.

I didn't recognize anyone in it. Honestly I probably wouldn't anyway, since most celebrities people make Sims of are unknown to me, but they all look like men or aliens or alien men.
50  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: More Smutty Than You: TSR's Hall of Shame on: 2009 August 18, 23:06:44
As a female geek and video gamer, I have often read and even been told that I do not exist. I wasn't actually good at math and science in school. I didn't actually have a crush on first Data, then Captain Picard. The only computer game I actually play is Sims. All my female characters in World of Warcraft are actually played by men. I don't actually spend more on games than I do on clothes.

It's gotten a lot better in the past couple years, but for a while there I wondered, since I didn't "really" exist, if I could get away with murder Tongue.

But why dissuade others from trying civility?  You may consider it a complete waste of time, but it's other people's time to waste, isn't it?

Er... why try to persuade anyone of anything? Because I want others to use their time in a more effective fashion.  I believe this "civility" is counterproductive. I want people to be actually scared of saying they support paysites. I want people who support paysites to feel they will be shunned. They don't actually have the right to buy illegal products anyway. This idea of "rights", when people say "stop being mean to him/her s/he has a right to think that," is always a red herring in social intercourse in any case. I'm not the government.

I joined MTS2 in 2004. It's been 5 years. Nothing's different. If anything, paysites have gained ground. I compare communities where the idea of paysites is anathema to the Sims community. What they do works. What the Sims community does, doesn't work. I'm sick of failing.

Actually, I think that real progress starts being made when part of an activist group radicalizes. All of a sudden the other part of the group starts looking quite moderate and sane in comparison to others who might not have given them a second glance before. And the seeming "moderates" aren't scary, unlike those crazy radicals, so the powers that be start accepting them, and eventually the entire community accepts the activists group's goals. I don't mind being the lunatic fringe Wink.

The thing is, this "high road" stuff is NOT WORKING. It's also completely alien to anyone who's familiar with other gaming communities. You don't treat criminals and con artists politely. You don't respect the opinion that paying for game mods is okay, it's far too stupid an opinion. When people want to destroy your community for their own profit you beat them with warhammers. They don't have the right to sell parts of the game, and they don't have the right to pretend they give the tiniest little damn about the quality of their mods, the game, or anyone else in the community.

I left a site I had a lot of friends on because I was told I'd have to play nice with these fuckwits. Sometimes the "high road" is really just another way of saying "cowardice".

Your MTS avatar kitty looks like it has a dapper, curled mustache and goatee.  Never seen that particular face pattern on a cat before.  It's up there with my friend's rather nifty "vampire fanged" cat, has white stripes on her chin.

Yep, that's my kitty. I've had the same avatar there since I discovered MTS2, which was... well, it was before people discovered how to recolor, before Pescado burninated the jumpbug. I remember an early post Delphy made about how much money TSR was making. Now vets are claiming my cat is "geriatric", even though she can pin down our 2-year old kitty with little effort, and people are still shoveling money into TSR and using the "bandwidth" excuse. I feel old. I wish I could grow a long beard.

I didn't mean to sound like I was dissatisfied with MTS in particular. I just think the entire Sims community is afflicted with terminal "niceness". Niceness is great for keeping the status quo, and the status quo sucks.

Cute picture on that thread, but it's kind of an insult to monkeys. Wink
55  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Oh EA, you money-greedy bastards. ): on: 2009 August 18, 03:48:35
My theory is, and has been for a long time, that EA's right hand doesn't know what its left hand is doing. Imo, the people who interact in any way with the community are in TSR's pocket. Everything consumers try to say to EA gets filtered through them. EA doesn't give a crap so long as the game keeps selling. The only way to get them to wake up is to boycott their games. Just download Sims 3 products for free if you want them. EA's already voided the contract through its actions, you can't be held to it.
56  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Oh EA, you money-greedy bastards. ): on: 2009 August 18, 03:02:16
I'm not a contract lawyer. However, I think that if EA doesn't even attempt to enforce its EULA, then the EULA is null and void in its entirety. EA's agents are running about explicitly helping entities which break the EULA. Therefore the contract is completely and entirely worthless. Go ahead and "pirate" the game. Reverse engineer it too. That EULA you click on agreeing not to do these things has been voided by EA.

TSR's bottom line is more important to EA's moderators than EA's is. I find that rather interesting. I wonder what EA's lawyers would think.
57  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Your Ugliest Paysite Creation Find: Round Two. on: 2009 August 17, 22:50:23
I love how a TSR FA runs around acting like a child on MTS (and you know he won't be berated at TSR for it), TSR bans all mention of MTS on their site, and steals things from free creators at MTS, and hacks accounts, and makes personal information public, but people who defend TSR at MTS, or anywhere but here basically, are treated with kid gloves.

In any other game community I've been in, anyone defending any paysite, even one without TSR's horrific history, would be properly ripped to shreds.
58  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR charging for bucketfill on: 2009 August 17, 22:43:59
Looking at the MTS thread with someone defending TSR without being properly eviscerated (well MTS has to be NICE right?) reminds me of why I basically only post here and don't bother with anywhere else unless it's purely about the technical side of the game. I've seriously had it. If people are so stupid they can't read about the bullcrap TSR and other paysites regularly pull, if on the official site they're so stupid they're willing to defend EA's right to be completely unethical, then let them be stupid. After years of this stuff I just don't want to see it any longer.

Also, did Thomas just claim that someone could accidentally submit a pattern, and it could accidentally be approved, because of some kind of automation in the system? As usual, his explanation is worse than the truth. But Thomas is still the perfect leader for TSR, because the basic requirement for being the community manager or whatever he pretends his job is, is to have no conscience at all.
59  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR charging for bucketfill on: 2009 August 17, 08:58:48
I think this might deserve a thread of its own. The other thread is about ugly paysite creations. Since this is just a color, it's not really ugly, and it's sure as hell not a creation. It's a TSR Atrocity, really. Just beyond anything I thought even they would do, and I thought they couldn't surprise me any more.

Is anyone else surprised that it's not pink, btw? Tongue
60  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Your Ugliest Paysite Creation Find: Round Two. on: 2009 August 17, 01:37:14
That's PAY? Uh... can we please not put solid colors in the booty? I mean, I guess it'll have to go there, but it's ridiculous! I bookmarked this when I was playing with the Sims 3 design thingy: http://web.njit.edu/~kevin/rgb.txt.html

That color looks like EEB422, or very close to it. You can't own an RGB value!

My Digital Color Meter spit out D5AB3F but yeah, I hope those 102 people who paid for a subscription and downloaded that are having a serious time of reflection.

Thanks for mentioning that application, I went to Google to look it up. Apparently it comes with Macs? But I found http://www.nattyware.com/pixie.php for PCs. It gave the same value.

Chaz is hilarious. I seem to remember that he was a young teenager, but that was a while ago. He's acting 6. Have the TSR "FA"s actually started to believe they're somehow important in the community? Cuz, um, they're not.
