The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Rose Sims and Paypal

I wonder if that has anything to do with her being a "non-verified" member. Which means that her information has not been certified through a bank account. screenshot says Non-US verified. Meaning in another country but verified. She's in china ,right? do they have laws about that sort of thing?

Actually, they dont think they are right either. If they thought for a moment they had a legal right to sell the content the words donation and bandwidth would never even be mentioned. They would all be replaced with the word purchase and business. It would be retailer and customer. There is one site owner that if you say, "I want to buy this set from you" he will respond that he has no sims files for sale and that they are only gifts you receive for donating. There are no purchase buttons out there. They are donator buttons. most of them probably think it's tradition or something like that *shrugs*

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Why do people pay for some of this stuff?

Rating is overrated.
What you need is take a good picture of an object, enough to see its details. Note its flaws as well, i.e. animation is good or not.
For example, for a hair set, you could write if it's:
1) 5 basic colors (a REAL red, please?? not pink!) 2) All ages (Elder color properly done, etc.) 3) Properly binned (eyebrows, family GUID, etc.)? 4) Animated 5) Neck gap
See where I'm going? It's long though... but it's the best way, imo, to write something as objective as possible. Especially a note if the elder is grey or colored, I once was making a video for a friend about one of her roleplay characters and pet dog. I let her help me design the sim, and when I got to the end of the short film, I wanted to do a touching scene with the elder dog and the sim becoming an elder, only to be stunned when she spinned and... almost nothing changed. The hair is the biggest clue to age from afar.

I guess they fail to realize that EA does not support CC. Why would EA give a shit about the creators so called rights. The creators have no rights, period. Of course they support CC. They built in the little CC astrick, and host the Exchange, after all. They support FREE CC, just not paysites (and they also apparently support 12 year olds)

Please do not use this forum to flame others. My motto is if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything. Playing the Sims and all associated with it is supposed to be fun, so let's keep it that way. Also please be mindful that this is a child friendly forum and keep posting and topics sensible.

I was around the Sims community when Livin Large was announced and I can assure you that paysites were not around then. People had already started to create objects, but no-one started charging till Mall of the Sims. The outrage it was huge. Then they all realised there was money to be made and they all started going pay.
When it comes to Sims2 charging was around before hand. WDS was defentitly charging for clothes before we even had the damn game! Most people were against it then and consedering how quickly this site address had spread, most are quite happy with these items being free. OMFG Lauren, you've caused me to have horrible flashbacks. I remembered downloading things for TS1, but until this minute I didn't remember my outrage that MoTS went pay. I was devestated- having never been part of a modding community before I'd not realized this was abnormal, just that I loved their stuff and wanted it badly, but was a broke kid making literally $5 a week when they remembered to pay me. Now I've probably solved half my nuroseses thanks to recovering my repressed trauma! Paysites must die! I'll sue!

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / EA: All Your Mesh Are Belong To Us

Another dirty little secret about meshes is that most of the people who make them use pirated cracked 3D programs to do it. Of course they won't tell you that. I've always wondered if the Exchange the & way the sims2pack files suck everything up like a vacuum was EA's subtle way to help foil paysites. Too bad it's an poorly organized cess pool that no one but lobotomized 10 year olds want to use. the one mesh I made (and no, I won't share it, I don't care to have everyone see what crap I made and what a mess I made out of it firsthand, ya'll can go to my sim blog and see it on a model and laugh hysterically) I used a demo of the program. I figure if I need ot make another, I'll do what I always do with timed demos- bookmark the download site and return once a month ~_^

the more I read the more I'm convinced it's a hoax to make us think paysites are evil..
Pescado? That you cleverly disguised as a paysite-owning whore?

I've seen it happen lots of times, even with free sites. Some premadonna gets her panties in a bunch because some 10 year old inadvertently uploaded something to the exchange with their stuff it in, and they send out their little lemmings to go claw the kid's eyes out.
hey now, that's different. Most of the posts I've seen like that are where the kid claims "Luk @ dis kewl thin i made LOLZ GIMMIE BENES" on something nice, and when asked "Can you credit me because I made it?" they say "U KALNG ME A THIF I MADE IT U SUCK" Blah, the exchange sucks majorly. Again, it's the issue of credit. PMBD gives full credit to people for creating- just not full $$$

It would make sense if people were scamming the paypal button so that they end up getting them for free off an invalid accout...
