106  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / an interesting read ;) on: 2007 February 24, 21:45:55
Aw my God...I have yet to decide if the way they feed each other's crazed stupidity is hilarious or plain sad. They sound like retarded dumbasses high on something.
107  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / I dont pay for a damn thing and I'll tell you why... on: 2007 February 22, 21:44:10
I see your point, but after thinking about it even more than I've been doing since the whole paysite issue was brought to attention, I still don't really care what Delphy or other freesite owners do with the money they get from the donations.

The point of being against paysites, I think, is largely a moral one, but it is so because it derives from a legal observation: having people pay for something you're not allowed to sell in first place is not legal. Maxis is the one entitled to mind about it from a legal point of view, and they may decide not to mind at all, we on the other hand are the ones entitled to mind about it from a moral point of view, but our minding about it has a reason to be and is so strong because it directly comes from the fact the selling CC stuff is not legal.

Gah, am I even making sense?? while the toughts form in my head in Italian I assure you I am

What I mean is, I completely support and am interested in the issue of being against paysites only as long as it has a legally relevant reasoning behind it. Otherwise, I'm not interested in the sheer moral issue of what should or should not be done generally speaking by the freesite owners. As long as someone offers 100% free cc content on their site, leaving it up to people to decide whether or not to donate and knowning that donating won't gain them any "special gift", that's perfectly fine with me even if the owners in the end get so much money to sustain their site and live off it. Because while that might sound not moral, yet it doesn't infringe any law, and specifically any of the rules made by Maxis. I guess that's the only confining line I'm willing to consider
108  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Serasim's newest atrocity. on: 2007 February 21, 21:46:55
This thread just brought me to her site...as a result I'm 100% sure that her Robbie Williams is going to haunt my sleep tonight   One might say she has a rather peculiar skill at making freaky scary versions of the original celebs...

I hate paysite owners and their greedy asses, but the way people seem to be willing to go on buying the crappy sims stuff from the crappy sims creators just keeps leaving me completely astonished.
109  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / booty/tsr is 404 on: 2007 February 19, 23:32:34
Earlier today in the booty updates section at BeLessStupid I saw the explanation for the problem, check it out
110  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Elynia. italian paysite :/ on: 2007 February 17, 21:02:43
The banning wouldn't be a problem, I'm currently not a member on any forum besides the PMBD and MTS2 ones, so I'd register on paysites' forums just in order to advertise, link back to here and the booty, then be banned without a single regret

Anyway after the message I posted yesterday on Elynia's chat im thing (where you don't have to register), earlier today I went and advertised  the PMBD robinhood/pirate mission and put a link to the booty too, it's no longer there but it managed to stay for a few hours...although I wouldn't be so sure that anyone actually took advantage of it...my first post was welcomed with outraged reactions and the posters teamed up against me in order to delete my message   When I checked the forum I couldn't help but notice that one of the most updated threads is the one where they praise and drool over Carla Niven's clothes, so they probably wouldn't even know what to do with the the truly beautiful paystuff
111  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Elynia. italian paysite :/ on: 2007 February 16, 23:29:13
I just posted a message on the public chat thingy on her forum telling her she's violating the EULA Agreement and therefore selling Sims stuff illegally (apart from telling her to get over herself since there are tons of much better clothes for free on the web), not that it's going to have much of an impact but I think here in Italy we too have to start from somewhere in order to destroy paysites...

BTW - and sorry because I'm kinda sure this question must have already been asked somewhere else but I can't remember to save my life - would in such cases a link to PMBD and the booty be appropriate?  :?: Because sometimes I feel this urge to spam paysites with links back here, but so far have never let myself go
112  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Fun New Paysite... on: 2007 February 16, 22:43:55
aw God, the FAQ section is so awesomely retarded it's beyond words
113  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / So it begins... Or something slightly less dramatic on: 2007 February 14, 21:49:43
BlackPearl, I think all the issue is really in the way this thing was made. HP never said she'd never give permission, it looks to me she in fact said quite the opposite. She basically said that if someone she knew and respected, like Liegenschonheit, asked, she'd be willing to bend her own terms and give permission. Then what happens is that Liegen shows up and kind of dismissively says ouch, sorry for uploading your meshes without even pm-ing you. Now. I find it so very human and understandable for HP at that point to go "wait, WTF? you already did that?" "  Sad"

Why this seems to be so not easy to understand really is beyond me. Like I've already said, we're just talking about little, very very little signs of respect for FREE creators. Approval and respect don't always come together, you may not approve but if you're fair, you'll still respect, or so I believe.
114  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / So it begins... Or something slightly less dramatic on: 2007 February 13, 23:36:21
You see? What is happening about HystericalParoxysm is quite significant and IMO was absolutely avoidable, if only a little more respect for those who deserve it came to mind more often that not

In the community I am a mere downloader, I do not run a site nor have I any remotely artistic skill whatsoever, but somehow I do understand how creators must feel about their work, and the point remains that when the mesh is FREE, comes from a FREE SITE and is easily accessible, including it in the recolour or whatever without asking and against redistribution policies is a tastless and disrespectful thing to do. C'mon...we downloaders might be lazy but we definitely should not complain at all when it comes to FREE STUFF, even if this means go and follow link after link in order to get a mesh. Which, BTW, hardly ever happens after all...most of the times I just click one link and find the mesh I need, AND when I don't it's hardly ever a mesher's sloppiness to be blamed: it's in fact mostly because the recolor uploader has posted a general link to the mesh site's homepage instead of the specific link needed.

And even in the worst scenario - mesh corrupted, site down, etc. - we can't say junk is not easily deletable from our game  Deleting it  might be boring and all, but if a choice has to be made, I'd rather keep the respect of FREE stuff creators than treat downloaders like spoiled kids and satisfy their every childish whining. We're talking about little signs of gratitude for the free creators, so why step over them too?
115  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / So it begins... Or something slightly less dramatic on: 2007 February 13, 21:26:20
The greedy downloader lurking (lurking?!) in me immediately thought yeah this is great news!, and so I voted yes, but what I had in mind were in fact the paysite meshes. I actually think that to include meshes would be absolutely fair, in our piratesque peculiar way, as long as paysite meshes are concerned

That said, I really don't see the reason to include free meshes against the freesites' creators' policies. I mean, why offend the freesites creators? These people do deserve and should have from all the community that solid respect that no amount of whining from us, the downloaders, should justify to prevaricate.

Besides, for me it's like HistericalParoxism just said, when you have to go get the mesh you are also offered the opportunity to take a look at stuff you may never have seen otherwise. Sure, I often so roll my eyes at having to go seek for the mesh, but many times in just that exact way I have stopped at the site where the mesh is and have started browsing through stuff, even forgetting about where I got there from, and thus finding out about great creators whom I would maybe never had a chance to know if I had found the mesh included (um...consecutio temporum? verbs?? help! )
116  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: OFFICIAL THANK YOU THREAD on: 2007 February 08, 13:08:33
You are the most adorable pirates with a Robin Hood syndrome that as a Sim player I could ever dream of crossing path with, I'm downloading the impossible and I officially and whole-heartedly thank you for everything you're doing here for the community and against paysites. Cause paysites must be destroyed, arr!

And yeah I know, as pirates we despise words like "adorable" but c'mon, just for once
117  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / I Hate N00bs. on: 2007 February 03, 20:21:29
I’m new here, I don't have a vast experience on other forums and English is not my first language. For these very reasons, I took my time and read almost the entire forum before even thinking to register. Some people, for my same reasons, choose to do the opposite and the second they receive their confirmation of registration, jump in whatever thread or start a new one asking silly/irrelevant/irritating/useless questions. Even I find it annoying. So I guess it’s not a matter of n00bs but a matter of stupidity, which probably kicks in more obviously during the n00b stage
118  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Working on solution on: 2007 February 01, 22:06:24
No matter how civil and nice your effort, I seriously can't see why this side of the issue (=us) should even consider taking one step back like you suggest we do. Sims paysites are illegal and a daily offence, why we should even remotely care about reaching any sort of agreement with them really is beyond me   . Paysites simply have to cease to exist, because when it is proven that there are lots of valid alternatives to having subscriptions, and these days there's also a lot of help available out there in the community as to how to successfully turn a paysite into a free site (just take Delphy of MTS2 - for God's sakes I never had a site but after reading just a few of his advices on how to turn a paysite into a 100% free site without losing money, even I would know how to do it if I decided to do it tomorrow!) you really have no excuse for still running a paysite. The point is, most paysites obviously refuse any advice because what they truly want is to make money, not cover bandwidth costs. So I honestly do not understand your point of view, because the idea of compromise should not come from this side of the issue.
119  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / What EP would you most like to see for Sims2? on: 2007 January 30, 20:58:21
Personally I would like something that drastically adds new aspects to the Sims life. Pets is fun, Seasons would be interesting, Vacation could be fine, but what I feel the need for is a real improvement in the Sims behaviour. The game becomes predictable after a while no matter where you take your Sims, otherwise. Not sure what I want could be in an EP though, because I don't mean new scenarios or change of locations or whatnot. What I mean is more like Sims developing bad habits, having them to deal with tougher situations and that possibly don't work out in one Sim day, having events really change their personality or influence the choices they will make, having jobs and careers make a difference in their mood and their inclinations, generally a wider difference personality-wise and the way it shows in the game. Sounds easy, huh? :p
