It isn't a reason to get all hurt, but steerpike didn't break the FAQ either. Perhaps what she said could be interpreted as dragging wank over, or it could be in response to the wank that was already dragged over by someone else. Either way, I said my piece and that's all I wanted to do, really. If you don't wish to point out flaws in free creator's stuff here, that's totally fine and I see no reason to argue with you about it as I do make it a point to play by the rules in someone else's house. I do think it is kind of odd though, that Pescado says one thing and the FAQ says another. At any rate, there are too many members of both PMBD and GoS to let something like this be a major point of contention. I hate to see people feel uncomfortable at either forum because we see this one issue in different ways.

I don't like it either, Devilfish. Even though I felt slighted by Nouk's comment, I chose not to respond. I don't really want to stir up more drama here or anywhere else, but I don't think it was fair for Paden to call Steerpike names for bringing the drama here when she was reacting to what someone else said. I am also trying my hardest not to say anything mean or hurtful to anyone, even though some of these things sting a bit for me, personally.

I'm sorry, guys, but I've been thinking on this quite a bit all afternoon and am just BUGGED about Steerpike dragging a GoS related incident here and taking potshots, so I have to say this to her: STFU. It is frowned upon to be dragging drama from one forum to another in order to harass or start a fight. Keep GoS happenings where they belong, on GoS. We have enough drama of our own and deal with it adequately. I thought you knew better than that. If you've got a bitch with her, take it to PM and don't attempt to fight another forum's battles/squabbles here. Dumbass.

Actually Paden, I will have to disagree with you on this one. Steerpike didn't bring this drama here, Nouk did, as you can see here:

However in some people's self centered world, if THEY don't care their stuff is slammed, the other person should get over it or get lost. There is no empathy. I'm not saying you should kiss their ass and lie to them that they're great or fabulous, I'm saying people should act normal, like when they talk to someone directly.

If they want to make fun of free stuff, they should, but what's good enough for people outside of the forum, should be good enough for people inside the forum. It NEVER happens though, but not because all their stuff is perfect.

Now, perhaps you're giving her a free pass because she didn't use the actual name "GoS", but it's painfully obvious who "they" are and which "forum" she is referring to. I've kept out of this till now, even though I'm convinced that she's talking directly about me when she said "THEY don't care if their stuff is slammed", because I used myself as an example when I was replying to the whole stupid drama, saying that yes, I had experienced it and no, it wasn't the end of the world. You know what? This is your forum, fine. You can pretend to rule with an iron fist if you like. You can gloss over the fact that Nouk brought the wank here in the first place, as I'm sure you will.

But bear this in mind, even Pescado posted at GoS and said that posting opinions on freesites are not against the rules here or at MATY, which has the same rule set. I considered myself a loyal "pirate" for some time, and I never thought I'd see the day when the terrifying PMBD pirates whined about how mean we are at GoS. I expect to be slammed for posting this, but let's at least be honest about who does what.

According to that site, digitalperversion.net is worth a mere $37303, and I should make more than $50 a day on ads. It is also worth more than MATY and PMBD, but mustbedestroyed.org is the winnar at a cool $75k.

How is it that we are not all rich?

Wait, how did Pescado get admin status? I have a feeling the answer may be obvious, but I honestly don't know. Is there a secret to it?

Simple, Pescado is a sekret admin everywhere. He fixes things, and in return reaps souls and collects admin accounts.

I was thinking the same thing. He probably won't read it anyway and it's making people feel better.  Cheesy

True, I'm all for catharsis. I'm hoping Paden will show up with her letter soon though Tongue

You know, I kind of wonder how big of an impact a thread of macros from people with mostly only a few posts will make (though I think perhaps those gold dollar signs might make an impression). He'll probably figure we're all trolls. It would probably be good if the staff or resident creators made a statement at some point.

better off purchasing a community for a game like World of Warcraft or something, one would think, since everyone pretty much knows what that game is even if they don't play it, and there's no "World of Warcraft 3" coming out that would potentially take away a lot of traffic and members of the community.

Actually, no, he wouldn't be better off buying a game for another game, especially WoW. Sims is an aberration in the game community, there is no other game out there that has a fan base that is willing to spend money on fan created content. In fact, when this phenomenon is even mentioned to most other gamers, they laugh their asses off at how fucking stupid the sims community is for letting that shit happen. I say it wouldn't work especially for a game like WoW, because as an MMO everything is run on server side, and so all mods are cosmetic or user interface related at most and don't even effect game mechanics in any large way, other than maybe where you put your buttons.

On most game sites, the only way people are able to run large fan sites is through advertisements, which are annoying but cost players nothing, or voluntary donations which generally do not get them extra content, except perhaps extra features on the site. Sound familiar? What we're basically fighting tooth and nail for is normal everywhere else in the gaming world. People aren't supposed to profit off of fan sites.

They've obviously messed with the contrast and added shine in those kitchen pics. I do have a question about the wall that came with it, did that rock wall come with the actual set? Because it isn't anything like the advertised picture.

I keep meaning to ask Nouk if its okay if I use her hair textures for the maxis male hair.  I just.....some of the styles are okay, but the textures are awful.

Nouk has an awesome TOS:
Quote
You can upload my texture files with your creations, as long as you credit me and link back. 100% free sites only.
You can edit and re-use (parts of) my textures and recolor them, as long as you credit me and link back. 100% free sites only.

That's why so many people have been going nuts and putting her lovely textures on just about everything under the sun.

I played several excellent custom scenarios for NWN. Some of them are just amazing, with rich details and intricate storylines, you can only wonder how much love the creator must have poured into creating them. And did they charge even a penny for their contents? Hell no. Free sharing of custom game contents is the esprit de corps in video game fandom, and I detest vehemently those greedy bastards who corrupted it in Sims community for good.

I used to love the NWN mod community! I did a few retextures and put together a few custom maps and things, but nothing like what some people could do. I think because a lot of people who play the sims aren't big gamers or modders outside this community, they don't realize how much time and effort other communities put into making fantastic game mods, and all of them for free.

I'm so glad this happened. It's one thing to fight against EA on the internet, but it's another thing entirely to drag them into a legal battle. It makes me with I had the money to hire lawyers and do this kind of thing myself.

Dude, GoS isn't emo.

You're gonna make me cry if you keep calling me names  Wink
12  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Habitat43 News! Sharing Information! on: 2008 September 17, 02:02:09
Maybe it's just me, or the people over at GoS, but I thought we had all already come to terms with what was said in the past. I seem to recall when Aikea and Gelydh went free, we all hashed it out and admitted to saying mean, uninformed things about one another and agreed to let it rest. I know that didn't really happen here at PMBD, but I for one am willing to agree that we've all said and done things that seem awful in hindsight. Fallen Apple is just bringing up old trash to get us to turn on one of our own, and I won't do it.

I wrote an email to paypal telling them I was concerned that TSR is sharing the private information of their customers, and asking what recourse we might have if our information is given. It is a legitimate concern, and I hope paypal takes it seriously, given that they promise privacy and safety.
13  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Habitat43 News! Sharing Information! on: 2008 September 16, 21:47:47
We knew this was going on, back with Rose and TSR and LyricLee. I don't see how this is startling new information, but it IS proof to show paypal that can be used to get their status revoked.

I'm still a goth kid. and I'm 26. We have a way better style than emo, I think. And better music too. I get annoyed that there are people that don't know the difference, but then, I suppose to the mainstream we all look pretty much alike.

And I don't particularly want to cut other people. Unless they really, really deserve it. But still, that isn't really part of our "thing".
15  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Free Content Pwns Paysite Crap on: 2008 August 06, 20:16:02
I don't really care one way or the other about gay-underaged-incest crap. I've read doujinishi for long enough to know this is pretty par-for-the-course when it comes to fetishes. The thing about that photo that bothers me is actually the teacup in the mouth thing. If you grabbed a teacup by its handle with your mouth, it would have spilled pretty much immediately, unless the person carried the teacup up there in his hand and transferred it to his mouth just for dumping... In which case it seems all rather silly, don't it? Tongue

Also, that second boy has a teabag in his mouth. Have you ever tried to suck on a teabag (try not to read into that the wrong way)? Teabags are super concentrated. They are NASTY. You wouldn't want one in your mouth, they are very bitter.
