The programmers are Johan (brother of Thoma$$ and $teve) and micke, a TSR employee. I too was under the impression that they hired outside contractors, but no, it's their own guys. They surely don't need donations to pay themselves.

Thank you, ScooterBabe. I need something to erase the sight of bucketfill and boob grabby hands. *dunks head in bucket of eye bleach* Maye this will give me nice blonde highlights too?
Light Angel - Whaaaaa? He was featured? For bucketfill? Or did he make better stuff after, and got featured for that. Why is he reuploading old stuff? That was already on TSR?

Thanks, kenmtl, for that example. I understand what you're saying about modified patterns. I think "inspired by" would fall under "derivative works", and some folks cover those in their TOUs. There was a pattern in one of the threads here, I'd have to find it, that was a bunch of apples and leaves. Someone at MTS, purplepaws maybe, made one similar. They both used a texture they found online. The TSR creator moved some leaves around a bit. People need to understand moving those leaves did not make it a whole new texture, the original creator's TOU should still apply. ok, found the linkies from our threads, and look, it's another one by Apple warm biscuit bedding, makers of the apple design (unless they got it from somewhere else too, regardless, if someone used a swatch from warm biscuit, they should credit warm biscuit) TSR Apple's apple patternsimcredible apple patternMTS purplepaws apple patternedit: Now, to be fair, not all the free creators credited the apple pattern to whoever, so that weakens the argument that TSR should slightly (though it's still a valid argument). kenmtl is right that the case is strongest when it's a direct copy, like that rectangle motif pattern.

How about we compile a list of several patterns that TSR failed to credit the original artists for, and post it in various forums? With pictures for comparison? And some concise text, nothing too long or involved, something 12s will understand.
- When using someone else's texture, it is only right to give credit. - Changing someone else's texture a tiny bit does not make it your texture. - It is wrong to sell someone's texture when they have shared it for free. - Free creators credit their sources, TSR FAs don't. - TSR loves to boast how they "respect creators terms of use", but this only applies to their own creators, and it really means "don't fileshare our pay stuff"
Would it be worthwhile to contact some of these texture websites and artists and tell them TSR is selling their work? I don't think it would result in a lawsuit, but it might get TSR the bad press they deserve.

Why does she have many patterns in her game that are the same pattern, just made by different creators? Isn't that rather pointless?
If I understand correctly, Sandy did not get texture from the intarwebs, she painted it herself. The TSR thief added a bit more rust, right? Someone needs to point this out to Ms. DOThair.
edit: Textures from teh intarwebz tend to be free. I can't see TSR creators shelling out for textures. So they are profiting from someone else's freely shared hard work and creativity. Yes, the TSR creator had to put in some effort to trace the pattern, set up the color channels, blah blah, but that's not what the sheeple want to pay for. They want the pretty, pretty patterns. When they post gushy comments, it's "your pattern is so pretty, you are SO talented!!!!!", not "some free internet pattern is so pretty, you are SO good at tracing!!!!!!".
edit2: And how many TSR creators actually credit the free sources they used for their patterns? Gangreless and other MTS creators give links to where they got the textures from.

Well Kot Bayun is a talking cat.
Is it from a Slavic folktale? Not Polish, but maybe Czech? Russian? Now I'm really curious. What does "Bayun" mean? Storyteller? Liar? Yes, that mustache is trying to fly away. And why are his jowls so huge? Cats have pointed snouts. Are they meant to evoke the ruff of fur around a male cat's face? Yeah, the idea's not horrid, but the execution is not so great. edit: Google knows eeeverything. kot bayun

Before anyone does that, do we have a screencap of Thoma$$ saying they hired two new people? Or that they paid contractors? That was my impression, before Johan said, no, it's him and micke. I could have sworn Thoma$$ said hire, but I can't find it. Am I imagining things, or did they cover their tracks?
