There, I did it for you guys, problem freaking solved. Now can we get back to the pretties?
Muchas gracias. Have rum.  Grin

There are hacked computers for Sims 2 that allow you to shop for everything from in front of your computer desk. I believe it's Monique's Moneywell computer and that you can get it from MTS.
Actually, that's pretty realistic, as I buy most of my clothes over the Internet these days anyway. But my fave clothing hack is the good ol' Hacked Coat Hook. Although, I did change its price from $50 to $2500, which seemed more reasonable to me if I was going to get unlimited clothing in return.

*passes rum to El Diablo* Cool avi, I've liked it since I first saw it.

Thanks for the tipple, and glad you like the avi. I forget who once described cats as having "lovely blood-red thoughts," but it fits.

And yeah, I am with some of the others that think this thread needs split, kindly separate Sims 2 finds from Sims 3 because other wise, I get confused and disappointed. I want to be able to find the shiny for my game when I'm in the mood to go looking and so far, haven't seen much in this thread for what, a week or so? Sad

And you may not see much for quite a while, if ever. Sadly, lots of people seem to think there's nothing new to be done for Sims 2. I've even severely curtailed my downloading over the past several months, even before Sims 3. It seems that most of the time I've already got something so similar that it's not worth swelling my downloads even further for some minor tweak. Anything by Adele, of course, goes immediately into the kitty.

I'm not suggesting splitting the thread to curtail moar fight, though. I think it would be a good idea only because it's difficult to tell whether stuff is for TS2 or TS3, and I don't think anyone's a moron for being confused. It all does look very similar. Especially after a few swigs of rum.  Wink

I'm in trouble. I like that Peggy braid. Dr. House, I need more rum! And some of your pills!  Shocked
34  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Your Prettiest Freesite Creation Find: Round Two (Apparently) on: 2009 August 24, 16:50:29
Dr. House gave me rum, I don't forget. So I won't bash her for bashing TS2. Otherwise I may never get rum again.   Cry

But I don't understand the anger. TS3 has some great improvements, and it's turned out to be more fun than I originally thought it would be. And, I appreciate that judging this first release against a game that's had umpteen EPs and Stuff Packs is unfair.

That said, I have to defend those who prefer TS2. Actually, the story progression feature that Dr. House likes so much is the thing I immediately turned off and leave off. So I'm a control freak. I don't want Sims moving in and out without my say-so. I don't want to miss the childhood/adulthood of my created Sims because I was engrossed in another family for a time.

Maybe it's because I'm such a natural hermit in real life and I can stay happily cocooned for days, but I have no problem with my Sims being "confined" to one lot at a time. I rarely take them to community lots, especially after OFB fubared the grocery shopping feature. Getting clothes for them is now the main reason for leaving home turf. In TS3, you don't need to shop for clothes at all, you have access to the entire wardrobe collection via your dresser, which I find even more unrealistic than paying 200 simoleons for a single piece of clothing.

But, to each her own. For me, the best solution is to keep both games installed and play whichever one takes my fancy at the time. At present, because it's still new, I play TS3 a little more, but it's fast becoming old news and the scales are starting to tip back toward TS2 and all those gigs of great content and super hacks. If it's going to take TS3 two or three years, or more, to catch up to TS2 in terms of EP content, interactions and playability, then I'd say TS2 has a lot more life left even for those of us who find much to enjoy in TS3.

Yes, agreed, the landscape graphics are quite an improvement. Terrain paints are loads better, too, looking much more natural. Do I even have to mention the incredible water effects? But, the pool water effect is crappy compated to TS2, and in general I find that the Sims-related graphics are jerky and poorly animated. The way they just wave their arm at something to pick it up, for example, and of course the fade-out effect when they get into a car. Their butts don't even touch the bicycle seats, have you noticed? I can just see the programmers, bleary-eyed at 4 AM with dozens of empty Coke cans and Twinkie wrappers scattered around, envisioning their supervisors coming around in a few hours to demand a progress report. I'd just throw up my hands and say, "Fuck it, that's good enough!" too. EA's misuse of its programming talent is legendary.

On another note, I'd like to echo others' comments about the similarities between pictures of Sims 2 and Sims 3 content and suggest that this thread be split off into a separate Sims 3-only version, to avoid confusion.
36  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Openhousejack on: 2009 August 24, 15:13:21
"Twat" is a vulgar term for the female genitalia. specifically the vulva. If you called her Atwit, (stupid, foolish, annoying) that would be in keeping with your stated intention. The purpose of calling her Atwat is to be insulting in the most derisive way. Ditto referring to Thomas as Thomass. The word "ass" is not used here as a shortened form of "jackass," which is generally taken to mean someone who is dull, stubborn and stupid. It is used as a reference to the buttocks, as is, in even more graphically insulting terms, "Openass Jack."

I don't come here to lecture anyone on how to use the English language, or indeed whether or not they should or shouldn't pervert people's names into vulgar insults. Just don't insult my intelligence by saying you didn't mean it that way. 'Course you did.

R.I.P. I shan't comment further.
37  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Openhousejack on: 2009 August 23, 15:24:14
Yeah, but I can see Motoki's point. Getting even ever-so-gently slapped down for the sort of posts that are pretty much sanctioned all over the rest of the site is enough to put you in a negative state. I reference the multiple assaults on Atwa, Thomas, DOT, etc., especially Atwa and the insinuations about her sexual relationship with Thomas, the unflattering pictures of her, the snickering about her mental state. She openly posted the material that was re-posted here, just like Openhousejack freely posted his. I'm not saying I like it, in fact the personal assaults on people are what I dislike most about PMBD. It's not going to ruin my day, I'm just saying it's silly to claim that PMBD adheres to a higher moral ground when you go around making vulgar versions of people's names (i.e. "Atwat," "Thomass," "Openass Jack") and theorizing about their sexual activities with one another. And then, to chastise a fellow member for repeating what the "targets" themselves freely reveal?

Like I said, I see Motoki's point. But I also think it's foolish to flounce just because a few people chided you. Tell them, thanks for the input but you don't agree and move on. Sticks and stones, mate.

Just a quick drop-by Smiley
M.Calero posted a set of 3 new shoes for YA&AF at GoS.

Arg, this pair is so beautiful that my head is gonna explode!
Grab the shinies here: http://www.digitalperversion.net/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=13893.0
LOL at the teasing "Top by me - coming soon" Make it quick, damnit!

This gorgeous pair also included:

And you can also get them at MTS2: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=362444

God, I can see where this is going... People say loading TS3 is soooooo much faster than TS2 with all its recolors and years of CC, but my game's already slowing down with the severely limited CC we've got so far. Not that I'm complaining, no sirree! Bring it on!

Engelchen made some beautiful recolors of the Shakerlicious kitchen.
Everything she makes is full of WIN!

OMG, thank you so much for that link! Fantastic recolors of what's become one of my favorite kitchen sets.

Well, it does actually look like Rupert Grint, which is more than you can usually say about Chaz's crap. Well, sometimes you can... "Hey, Chaz did Britney Spears, and whaddaya know, it actually looks just like Rupert Grint."

Jasmine posted two new living room sets at Sims in Paris

Living Room 6- http://www.simsinparis.net/living.php?start_from=5&ucat=&archive=&subaction=&id=&

Living Room 7 - http://www.simsinparis.net/living.php?start_from=6&ucat=&archive=&subaction=&id=&

Sadly according to the news here- http://www.simsinparis.net/news.php this is probably going to be the last update for the site - nothing has been indicated as to whether they are leaving BPS or not though Jasmine is no longer listed in the creators section.

Thanks for the links! I haven't visited SIP for a while and missed these. Very sad to learn that they might not be around for much longer, but alas, I think with Sims 3 we may see more sites devoted to Sims 2 going bye bye. People seem to feel after all this time that there's not much left to offer creatively for Sims 2, it's all been done before.  Sad

LoooL it's Sims 2 you silly people! Grin

Ha ha, you're right, Dr. House! No wonder the faces at least looked human, and not like the Pillsbury Doughboy with a coating of Cover Girl.

I haz bin had!  Grin
45  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Your Ugliest Paysite Creation Find: Round Two. on: 2009 July 21, 05:08:48
Yeah, but the faces look... good! How the eff did they do that? Hair texture and color look worlds better than the EAxis defaults as well, and I'll confess I've had little luck improving any of the hair with the customization tool. It's a right shame the style is so craptastic. At first I thought it was a Peggy special.
